Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead-Chapter 713 - Instructor Loimos
713: Instructor Loimos
713: Instructor Loimos
Death was dispensed all over the fortified city, and as a result of it all, the amount of death force rose sharply, which Loimos used to invite the greatest form of death in, an action which wouldn’t even be a mere suggestion from most, but Death’s Chosen Champion was naturally more able to do something of the sort, and eventually, it was like four gentle arms that perfectly embodied all that death was were wrapped around him, and then, something invisible happened, a pulse went through the realm, nothing changed visually, but it was clear to Loimos and the restless that something had gone for the better.
After this change happened, Loimos manifested a black crystal needle and swiftly had Alistel turned into an undead before Loimos got to work personally having the slain livings returned as undeads as well as putting the destroyed restless back together by fetching their souls, the influence of The Graveyard wasn’t quite present just yet, or rather, it was here but not yet in function, so Loimos did the equivalent of a worker having to make a normally automatic machine run by the sole strength of their arms.
The process of having livings become official citizens of the empire through undeath was made swift thanks to Alistel’s cooperation, whose authority was to the people here as ingrained in theirs bodies as was the need to breath in livings, though, those that were still alive were not yet granted the blessing of undeath, instead offered an important mission and duty that would certainly earn them much respect once they renounced life.
One might first assume that living soldiers were not seen as much within the undead empire, but considering that they were always heavily conditioned and led through strong propaganda to truly believe that undeath was the best thing ever and that serving the empire was an honour, so they were certain that dying would do them good, it didn’t matter if at the moment of death they were overwhelmed by the sensation that all livings felt in this instant, when they rose again as undeads, their beliefs would be confirmed.
If anything, it was admirable for them to keep on existing as flimsy livings to aid the empire when the natural reaction would be to drive their own blades through their hearts to die immediately.
In any case, Alistel had the people living in spread out houses throughout the side of this realm brought to the city that was still mostly in ruins as the mad architects and builders of the empire had not yet gotten there to do what they called art.
Although death had spread out, the passage between the realms wasn’t quite stabilised enough to ensure that other undeads wouldn’t encounter problems when entering, so Loimos oversaw the developments in person, accompanied by Maliah and the two living women she dragged around with her against their will, or well, Aliata was clearly unhappy that was for sure, few could hope to read anything from Alielil with her unchanging, creepy doll-like expression.
Aliocen and Aldaii were beyond grumpy at having died just to still lose, whilst the restless generals were the exact same as they had been before, for undeads, nothing had really changed after being destroyed and put back together, the new undead that was the most sour however, was definitely Bilistam, who had spent a little while as a wandering soul only to get snatched by the same guy who had murdered him and pulled into a much uglier version of himself with the skin all deflected and a head of atrocious hair.
But Loimos wasn’t directly taking charge, merely checking that Alistel and Irlanx Xacobus were doing a proper job, and being competent as leaders long before the pure undead showed up, there really wasn’t anything to say about their job, so instead, Loimos, who still wore his flesh of living suit for certain reasons, was busy instruction a group of little girls in view of making them murderer to send into the Emerald Realm when they were grown up to commit murder, and probably get murdered as well.
He didn’t mention all the details just yet, but they were looking pumped about it, Bellah was the head of the group, and she seemed to have imprinted on him like some sort of baby bird that had just broken out of its shell for some reason.
Loimos hadn’t even feigned affection for the youngling, but it seemed like his charisma on livings had shifted from pure infliction of terror to something else since he had put on a flesh suit.
It was still a bit odd that he seemed to have an in-built living appearance despite having never been alive, but it seemed like it had its specific usages beyond just allowing him to walk around this realm without problem.
Having understood how to carve his soul glyph, he was instructing his little warriors on how to do the same, they were all eager to do it, but after having believed their whole lives that they would spend their existence locked underground, some were easily distracted by the smallest of things.
Loimos had actually never worked with children, he had spent some time at Toordefer Academy under the guise of Osworth, but that hardly counted, the students there had been older and more mature than this, and the undeadling he had meant by be technically children, but as undeads, they hardly behaved like kids.
These girls needed to be watched, praised and scolded to get anywhere with them, but thankfully, they all wanted to imitate their older sister, and Bellah was trying her hardest to do whatever Loimos wanted, so the process was relatively smooth.
Though, it was undeniably a weird sight to see Loimos trying to teach stuff to a bunch of children all garbed in matching white outfits that made them look like they were already high ranking members of the military, which wouldn’t be wrong as the undead had already declared the Soror as a caste of the vanguard.
One could only wonder if that training was how he had first instructed Tilmiel and the first few nightbirds as well.
As he instructed them in where the vital areas of a living were to be found, he also worked on the ways of powers of the realm as well, although all of the soul ones were of interest, it was still the outlier that was most interesting.
It was unofficially dubbed ‘Restrictive Abilities’ for now, Siften Steppe, Moural and Boult were in use by the livings here, and they were restricted in the sense that the way the ability functioned was strongly set in stone and also due to the fact that one needed to be of the same species to use them, Loimos had gotten around that via possession.
But what really mattered was to take hold of it and develop sets of abilities that the majority of undeads would be capable of using without problem, and perhaps have it interact with Orderly Ranks if possible.
Naturally, he also intended on extending it to the living soldiers, the regular kind that were already stationed in the Emerald Realm were in a strong need for actual power as they were just too weak to do anything themselves, it wasn’t their mission to inflict damage, but it would certainly be welcome if they could fight a bit and not just serve as meat shields forever, especially when other realms with similar restrictions might appear in the future.
