As the strongholds were created, it was also the moment for Yuolrt to swoop in and take care of the flora and fauna, gathering samples of each, preparing to environment to transition for living to undead and also preparing the new species that would be introduced, this last part was certain to be to the tastes of the feasters as the minor lord had an immense catalogue of undead wildlife at her disposal, from cute pets to the ugliest creatures in existence.

The life barrier had been taken down a while ago and instead replaced with another to prevent the miasma from flooding in immediately, but once all was done and settled, it was allowed to wash over and permeated the entire continent, having already surrounded the place and turned many of the living inhabitants into undeads, the miasma was quick to truly mark Belliste as the empire’s property.

From the very moment word of their champion’s and his vanguard’s conquest reach the mainland, the entirety of the church of death gave long prayers as celebration, the many admirers of Loimos demonstrated their relentless fanaticism, chanting his name for hours at a time.

The ones who called themselves the ’sons of Loimos’ were especially ecstatic, the people as a whole were so proud of this achievement that all the way throughout the empire, be it the mainland, the underground, the oceans or the islands, all experienced a sort of baby boom as they felt like their glorious nation needed to expand, partaking in the alternative creation of new undeads like never before.

For the vanguard itself, this victory meant that a time of relative stillness would settle in, with the conquest of Belliste, life had once again grown stronger, progress would grow even slower than it was before, the advance of the miasma will only keep on slowing down, expeditions would begin to be made without cover of the miasma nearby, they knew this.

However, this time was not for now, first came the proper control of Belliste, which would not happen in the snap of a finger, and even after that, their general would probably not rush in, after all, without the miasma, the dragon of Dragonnerie would be an incredible threat, and Loimos needed to see whether or not the other continents had been fooled by his display of honour.

He had made sure to cover up for any actions that could point to the contrary, but not knowing everything about whatever means of surveillance they may have, it would be best to speak with them again and gauge the situation before sending anyone out of the miasma.

Though, at this very instant, it was all about overlooking things on Belliste, finding missions for the minor lords and the usual activities, he had expected for Maliah to show up quickly relating to that trident dagger design, but it would appear that One had already dragged her off to somewhere else.

Well, only after fawning and trying to climb inside of his ribcage following the duel with Irlke Combuscrus, but that was rather typical One behaviour.

Instead of waiting around, Loimos scrunched himself up into the likeness of a perfectly healthy bird, taking flight in search of particular places or perhaps other passages into other realms beyond the miasma, so far, he had only found missions for Ourlon, Yuolrt and Herlbe to take on.

Apart from Verdoyante, none of the continents he knew were a good fit for the rest.

Ridfoirn was already a decent leader, being more akin to a teacher to the mages that followed him, and amongst the minor lords, he was a hard one to put into a tough situation since he had made great progress into perfecting his once rather simple zone, coupled with with a corruptive mana trait, what Loimos needed to find for him to challenge was a place where magic was practised in a completely different manner, a way that he would need to dissect and understand.

Alkayne on the other hand, the zombie was a military leader through and through, a powerful and resistant knight who had once served within the royal crypt before being promoted to the rank of minor lord, wielding a powerful innate ability, he needed to be challenged on the basics.

As for Prikrip, although the title of strongest was taken amongst the minor lords, he was deceptively agile despite his crooked body and physiology that made wielding a blade difficult, his own innate power coupled to the technique he had developed also made him a force to be reckoned with, unlike Alkayne who had formed a small army capable of great autonomy, his own forces were like himself, quick and murderous- Due to his powers, trying to find him challenging opponents would be difficult, so instead, Loimos thought it would be best to test the minor lord’s patience.

And then, there was Ir’Houwl, she had greatly improved her ability to create and manipulate red sands of varying capabilities and unlike the others who had created their personal troops to either serve as a flexible army, to resemble themselves, or for carrying out specific tasks- She had instead greatly marked her troops with a very specific type of biome in mind, deserts.

Being originally from Pezerx, it was the environment she was most familiar with, having served as a personal bodyguard to a long gone emperor of this subjugated nation, it had only been after her death that Ir’Houwl stepped out of the great desert for the very first time.

Clearly, be it consciously or not, she longed for the desertic plains of sand, for the incinerating heat of a bright sun to be nearly constantly hammering its light down upon the land, vast stretches of nothing…

The minor wanted to be the first possible pick in case of any desert being sighted and needing exploration.

She loved sand so much that there were lines of glass containers to be found in her personal quarters, each containing sand coming from different places, having personally visited and gathered all of them whenever there was time.

So it only made sense to challenge Ir’Houwl to demonstrate what sort of desert expertise she possessed.

Flying under the guise of a regular bird, his appearance changing to imitate that of other avians, making sure that he never seemed out of place.

Passing by many islands, some large, some small.

Certain being effectively empty.

Rocks protruding from the waters, great beasts and monsters lurking far below or much too close to the surface, he even encountered islands that were actually just the backs of giant creatures, some with entire ecosystems living upon it.

Some of those small land masses also floated in the air.

Catching sight of crashed vessels, be it in mostly intact shapes as they were beached, or in the form of stray pieces of debris floating upon the surface…

Nothing of what Loimos was looking for yet.
