Chapter 556: Chapter 556: Cyan Demon

The enormous, grotesque arm extended slowly out of the abyss, stirring the winds and clouds for miles with a single slight movement.

Chu Nan saw a cyan monster, towering a hundred zhang tall, climb out from the abyss. Although humanoid, it bore a ghostly face, with hands hanging down to its knees, and shockingly, its palms and arms were of equal length!

It walked with heavy steps and slowly moved behind Huo Mingxian, exuding a terrifying aura far beyond Lu Yao’s many times over.

The moment this monster appeared, Chu Nan felt the surrounding world frozen, as if time itself had stopped.

Since he embarked on the path of Martial Dao, he had never encountered such a fearsome monster.

"Cyan Demon, years ago, you followed the Sword Demon to attack the Celestial Crossing Realm, committing heinous crimes."

"It was I who pleaded for you, sparing your life."

"Back then, you promised to fulfill a request for me. Today, I’m here to have you honor that promise!"

Huo Mingxian urgently addressed the Cyan Demon, but her eyes remained fixed on Chu Nan, as if afraid he might flee.

Though a monster, the Cyan Demon could speak human words. Gazing at Chu Nan, it slowly said, "Kill them, and our grudges will be settled. Agreed?"

"Agreed." Huo Mingxian hesitated for two breaths before finally consenting.

Though reluctant to uphold this agreement, she found herself left with no choice but to summon the Cyan Demon at the last moment.

With the exception of herself and Huo Jiantang, all the powerful individuals she brought were dead.

If the Cyan Demon didn’t intervene, even at her peak, she would surely fall. This choice was one made out of sheer necessity.

The Cyan Demon’s eyes shone with an abyssal blackness, revealing a gaze that seemed to see through everyone. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Under its stare, Chu Nan’s hairs stood on end; the monster before him was one he could never contend with, and even escape seemed a vain hope.

"Senior, what do we do?" Out of desperation, Chu Nan sought help from Lu Yao.

Lu Yao’s eyes narrowed, contemplating something unknown, and finally, with a heavy tone, she said, "I’ll try to delay him, you find a chance to escape. Leave the rest to me; I have a way out."

Chu Nan’s eyes brimmed with anxiety. Though Lu Yao was unfathomable, he couldn’t fathom what method she might have to handle this monster.

The appearance of the Cyan Demon was completely unforeseen; even the arrival of Emperor Qin was within Chu Nan’s calculations.

But who could have imagined such a powerful being, beyond the Ninth Heaven, lay hidden within the Cyan Demon Mountain Range? Wasn’t it said that the highest realm in the Celestial Crossing Realm was the Ninth Heaven?

"Huo Mingxian, from now on, we owe each other nothing!"

In a hoarse voice, the Cyan Demon spoke, pointing with one hand. Though the aura emitted wasn’t overwhelming, it was enough to make one’s skin crawl.

An emerald light blossomed at its fingertip, and Chu Nan acutely sensed that if he were struck by this attack, it would obliterate him, leaving no remains!

He fully activated the Zangba Evil Body while preparing to retreat towards the horizon at any moment.

"Beast, when I was at my peak, I could squash you with my finger, and today you dare put on airs!" Lu Yao cursed in anger to mask her inner unease, as her body surged with Sword Qi, turning into a radiant arc, charging decisively at the Cyan Demon.

She became one with the sword, her entire being akin to a holy Spirit Martial, shattering all things in the world.

This strike could pierce through the flesh of any Ninth Heaven Martial Artist, or even kill them.

To protect Chu Nan, Lu Yao went all out, wielding the strongest Martial Skill she could currently muster.

Chu Nan watched with anticipation; if this sword hit the Cyan Demon, it should at least injure it, right?

Such would create an opportunity for both him and Lu Yao to escape.

But to Chu Nan’s disbelief, the Cyan Demon faced Lu Yao’s strongest blow without batting an eye, merely flicking a hand, and Lu Yao’s gathered Sword Qi disintegrated completely.

Her body transformed into a stream of light, like a meteor, was sent flying back, disappearing at the edge of the world.

Witnessing this left Chu Nan dumbfounded; though Lu Yao’s Cultivation Realm hadn’t fully restored, her physical body was tremendously strong.

Yet even her full-force strike couldn’t wound the Cyan Demon, instead being casually swatted away by a mere finger.

Huo Mingxian saw this and burst into satisfied laughter, "Chu Nan, to tell you the truth."

"After the split of the two realms, the Celestial Crossing Realm became the Cyan Demon’s domain. He is the hidden ruler of this realm."

"He set the Grand Array, preventing anyone in the Celestial Crossing Realm from breaking through to the Unity Realm."

"He’s the one who blocked the only entry to the Heavenly Balance Realm, aside from the Sea of Suffering."

"No matter how prodigious your talent, how limitless your means, you cannot withstand the Cyan Demon’s power. In the Celestial Crossing Realm, neither Strong Race nor Royal Family can shelter you, not even the Ancestor Sect."

"Following the Cyan Demon is the only choice!"

In her eyes, with the Cyan Demon’s intervention, Chu Nan had no chances of survival. Many things she’d said were merely declarations, as he wouldn’t have the opportunity to spread them.

Most importantly, Huo Mingxian wanted to showcase the Cyan Demon’s might, seeing despair grow in Chu Nan’s eyes.

What she didn’t expect, however, was that faced with such a hopeless situation, Chu Nan’s demeanor slowly calmed down.

Because he knew, anger and unwillingness were pointless. Even in death, he aspired to die honorably in battle!

Clenching his fist tightly, he summoned the True Martial Holy Hall and grasped the Dragon Slaughter Tower, prepared to face death with courage.

Upon seeing the Dragon Slaughter Tower, the Cyan Demon squinted, murmuring softly, "World Vein Dragon Tower... seeing this detestable thing, you indeed deserve to die!"

He pronounced Chu Nan’s doom with a chilling tone.

Then, slightly spreading his arms, a gigantic mouth full of fangs emerged from his chest, spewing a stench that turned the earth beneath to a pitch-black color.

Chu Nan felt a force gathering in that mouth, a monstrous power he was utterly incapable of resisting.

Just as he awaited death, a long unheard voice suddenly resounded, "My dear disciple, it seems you’re in trouble again?"

Hearing Kui Guang’s voice, Chu Nan shuddered, hope igniting once more amidst despair.

Though Kui Guang was but a remnant soul, Chu Nan believed that if he intervened, he would surely resolve the current crisis!

"Master, the disciple truly has gotten into big trouble!" Chu Nan communicated through Spiritual Sense, his tone earnest.

The appearance of the Cyan Demon was too unexpected; who would anticipate such a formidable figure behind Huo Mingxian?

With disdain, Kui Guang remarked, "Cyan Demon? Just a trifling grasshopper haphazardly hopping about."

Hearing this, Chu Nan was overjoyed, incredulously asking, "Sword Venerable Master, can you kill him?"

"I am merely a remnant soul; how could I kill him?"

Kui Guang’s words brought a tinge of disappointment to Chu Nan, but he soon added, "However, I have a way to make him not dare to kill you."

Seeing the Cyan Demon about to strike, Chu Nan urgently asked, "Sword Venerable Master, what method do you have?"

Kui Guang transmitted a segment of Divine Thought into Chu Nan’s Sea of Consciousness, and after reading it, a subtle change crossed Chu Nan’s face, filled with skepticism, he asked, "Sword Venerable Master, are you sure this will make the Cyan Demon stop trying to kill me?"
