Chapter 29: Chapter 26: Beating Up Three Jerks

Downstairs, the chairman’s three bodyguards burst through the training center’s gate. The old gatekeeper chased after them, saying, "Sirs, who are you looking for? You can register at the entrance before going in. There’s no need to barge in so recklessly, is there?"

The lead bodyguard, wearing sunglasses, looked at the old gatekeeper with contempt. "Get that filthy Zhao Rong out here."

Hearing the sunglass-wearing bodyguard’s arrogant words, calling the training center’s own Zhao Rong ’filthy,’ the old gatekeeper immediately retorted, "Sir, you shouldn’t be so blind to the truth. Zhao Rong isn’t just a prominent figure at our training center; he’s our most respected young hero."

A bodyguard in a suit, trailing behind the leader, laughed aloud. "That ugly, short runt who looks like he’s begging for a beating is your prominent figure and young hero? That’s hilarious. I suppose all the other prominent figures and heroes in your training center must be dead, huh?"

Unable to contain his anger at the slander, the old gatekeeper fired back, "Sirs, you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover! Here at our training center, Zhao Rong has taught the bully Da Sha a lesson, caught the Rainy Night Maniac in the woods, beaten the provocative Killer King Wang Jingang, and even captured the Black Mountain Old Demon and the Snake-shaped Monster that were terrorizing the area."

"That’s just child’s play. We can do all that, too," the fat bodyguard said, spitting on the old man. "Now hurry up and call Zhao Rong out. We’re here to make him leave so we can personally protect the chairman’s daughter, Miss Lili."

The old man wiped the spit off his clothes and kindly advised, "I’m warning you, you’d better not provoke Zhao Rong. You’ll regret it when you’re spitting up your own teeth."

Hearing this, the fat bodyguard whipped a dagger out from his belt and threatened, "Old man, you must have a death wish! Get Zhao Rong out here now, or I’ll stick this knife in you and pull it out bloody."

The lead bodyguard in sunglasses added, "That fool Zhao Rong is standing in the way of our payday. We have to get rid of him."

The bodyguard in the suit chimed in, "If it weren’t for that kid, the 1.5 million for protecting Miss Lili would’ve gone to the three of us."

Facing their threats, the old gatekeeper showed no fear. "There’s no need for me to call him," he said. "Zhao Rong will surely come and teach you three a lesson himself."

Hearing this, the three bodyguards roared with laughter. They started shouting, "Zhao Rong, where are you, you coward? Get out here! He must be too scared to show his face! If he dares to appear before three top-tier bodyguards like us, then he’s got guts, I’ll give him that."

Just then, a nimble figure leaped out from the stairwell and landed directly in front of them. However, Zhao Rong had come out in such a hurry that he hadn’t had time to change. He stood before them in flip-flops, oversized shorts, and a tank top, holding a cracked washbasin.

Seeing the young hero and prominent figure the old gatekeeper had described so grandly appear before them dressed like this, the three bodyguards burst out laughing. The one in sunglasses mocked, "This shorty is supposed to be a bodyguard? He looks more like a sissy to me."

The fat bodyguard looked Zhao Rong up and down before insulting him directly. "You country bumpkin, you hick. You’re not here to protect the chairman’s daughter, you’re here to swindle her, aren’t you, you little con artist?"

The suit-clad bodyguard spat on the ground and said, "You idiot. Looking like that, who in their right mind would believe you can protect the chairman’s daughter? Scram if you don’t want to die."

Faced with their mockery and insults, Zhao Rong didn’t get angry. He spoke calmly, "Sirs, I know you are all very formidable bodyguards, and you obviously haven’t come with good intentions. Let’s talk this out. There’s no need for weapons, and no need to get hostile..."

Before Zhao Rong could finish, the lead bodyguard cursed at him, "Kid, cut the crap! Hand over the 1.5 million the chairman gave you and get lost!"

Compared to the three burly men across from him, Zhao Rong’s frame looked as frail as a newborn chick’s. He continued politely, "Sirs, I earned that 1.5 million with my own abilities. Why should I give it to you?"

The bodyguard in the suit sneered, "Because the three of us are taller, bigger, and stronger than you..."

The fat bodyguard added, "Because the three of us have received professional bodyguard training..."

The bodyguard in sunglasses was even more blunt. "Because any one of us could beat you until you’re a whimpering mess, spitting up your own teeth..."

Listening to their shameless boasting, Zhao Rong set the washbasin down. He sighed and said, "Fine. Tell me, if I don’t leave and I don’t hand over the money, what do you plan to do?"

The bodyguard with sunglasses looked at Zhao Rong. This guy looks so frail, one punch would probably kill him. I might as well just do it.

The bodyguard in the suit assessed Zhao Rong. If this guy can beat the three of us, then pigs will fly.

The fat bodyguard looked at Zhao Rong’s innocent face. He looks so gentle. How could he possibly be a skilled fighter?

Finally, the bodyguard with sunglasses chuckled. "Since you have a death wish, we’ll be happy to grant it."

With that, he threw a heavy punch straight at Zhao Rong’s face. The bodyguard was extremely confident in the power of his punch; he had once killed a bull with a single blow. If he could kill a bull, how could Zhao Rong possibly survive?

Facing the heavy punch, Zhao Rong instantly activated his Special Abilities: cat-like agility and lightning-fast speed. With a nimble dodge and a quick foot sweep, he sent the bodyguard tumbling into a nearby hedge.

Seeing their leader get tossed into the hedge by the skinny-looking Zhao Rong, the fat bodyguard pulled out his dagger and lunged, aiming for Zhao Rong’s stomach. Zhao Rong leaped into the air and delivered a flying kick, knocking the dagger from the fat man’s hand. He followed up with a 360-degree roundhouse kick that connected squarely with the man’s chin, knocking him out cold.

The last man standing, the bodyguard in the suit, pulled a nunchaku from his pocket. "Kid, I didn’t see that coming. You’ve got some moves," he said, brandishing the weapon. "But no matter how tough you are, you’re no match for my nunchaku!"

He charged forward, swinging the weapon wildly. Facing the nunchaku, Zhao Rong remained calm. He snatched a wet towel from the basin on the ground and, with incredible speed, dodged behind the bodyguard. He wrapped the towel around the man’s neck and executed a perfect over-the-shoulder throw, slamming him onto the ground so hard he was knocked unconscious.

Just as Zhao Rong had dealt with the second and third men, the bodyguard with sunglasses scrambled out of the hedge. He pulled a machete from his belt and yelled, "Impossible! How can a no-name bodyguard like you beat three top-tier bodyguards? It’s impossible!" He swung the machete, aiming to cleave Zhao Rong’s head.

Faster than the eye could follow, Zhao Rong casually picked up the washbasin and threw it at the bodyguard’s feet. The man was so focused on swinging his machete that he didn’t see it coming. He tripped over the basin and took a spectacular face-plant. Not only did he fall, but the machete flew from his grasp.

Although he was down again, the bodyguard refused to accept defeat. Defeated by a washbasin? No way!

But just as he was scrambling to his feet, Zhao Rong flicked the bar of soap that had fallen out of the basin under the man’s feet. The soap was wet and extremely slippery. The moment the bodyguard stepped on it, he lost his footing again before he could even react. This time, he fell and cracked his head hard on the concrete, knocking all the fight out of him.

When the three burly men had been defeated by the slender Zhao Rong in under three minutes, the old gatekeeper clapped and cheered, "Well done, Zhao Rong! That was brilliant, simply fantastic! That’ll teach these three arrogant fools who don’t know there’s always someone better out there! This is what happens when you don’t listen to your elders!"

Meanwhile, Miss Lili, who had been worried that the three bodyguards would beat up Zhao Rong, came rushing out of the dormitory building. When she saw the three powerful men lying on the ground, defeated by Zhao Rong, she was once again left in awe. She clapped her hands and said, "Zhao Rong, you’re just too amazing! I swear, there isn’t a single villain in this world you can’t defeat!"

Following behind Lili, Yu Lan and Xuelian also ran out. When the two beauties saw Zhao Rong’s display of power, they couldn’t help but say in unison, "If I’m going to marry someone, it has to be Zhao Rong!"

The old gatekeeper walked over to the man in the suit and taunted him, "I told you Zhao Rong was tough, but you wouldn’t listen. Now you’re all battered and bruised. Satisfied?"

Next, he went to the fat bodyguard. "I told you he was the hero of our training center, but you insisted he was useless. I guess his fists proved he really is a hero, didn’t they?"

Finally, he stood over the man with the sunglasses. "I told you that Zhao Rong had taught Da Sha a lesson, dealt with an Assassin, and caught both the Rainy Night Maniac and the Black Mountain Old Demon, but you didn’t take him seriously. I bet you take him seriously now, huh?"

Just as Zhao Rong stood over the three fallen men, Miss Lili’s father, the Chairman, arrived with his own people. He headed straight for the spot in the training center where the fight had just taken place.
