PATH OF THE STAR HUNTER-Chapter 519
519 Chapter 519 Territoriality
Although it sounded a bit strange, Desmond had more than one type of tendency more akin to beasts than humans. Perhaps it was due to how incredibly strong his instincts were or some other innate characteristic of him, but on more than one occasion, Desmond acted with the savagery one would see in beasts like wolves.
Part of the reason the moniker of the black wolf of the south became so popular was that it quite fit the wild grin seen on Desmond when fighting. With his blue eyes and hair as black as night, Desmond’s smile was not unlike the gesture of a wolf showing his fangs.
Interestingly, Desmond shared another trait with the wolves: his sense of territory. Desmond was incredibly territorial; he was a person with a great sense of his surroundings and a great need for control over it. One could imagine Desmond’s emotions becoming violent at the sight of some asshole yelling defiance from the rooftops as he stood on the rubble of the Astryd residence hall.
The urge to rip limbs off the man in front of him filled every corner of Desmond’s mind. Still, in his anger, Desmond had in mind the consequences of getting carried away and committing a murder in the middle of the city in full daylight.
Barely holding back his homicidal urges, Desmond stormed out of the house to confront the arrogant, screaming asshole. “You have ten seconds to explain your intentions and offer an apology for ruining my driveway. I’m going to break a bone for every extra second it takes you to apologize.”
Truth be told, it was hardly surprising that Desmond’s first words were a threat; It was good enough that he wasn’t dismembering the other person. Who would know that there would be people who don’t know how to spell the word death? Utterly oblivious to the danger, the young man in the doorway didn’t take Desmond’s words seriously.
“I guess you are the famous Desmond Astryd. You don’t look like much.”
Desmond had to clench his fists and teeth to bear his anger, but the idiot didn’t seem to be finished. “I had heard that you are a fierce person to the extreme; I didn’t expect you to look like a pretty and delicate boy.”
Desmond had always been attractive, but he had never been called a pretty boy for obvious reasons; he didn’t expect some random idiot to tell him such a thing. This was probably because, not expecting any visitors and planning to do some training before leaving home, Desmond was wearing a set of black and gold martial arts robes that completely hid the chiseled muscles beneath it.
.....
At this point in the discussion, Desmond had decided to kill the fucking asshole and worry about the consequences later. But when Desmond was about to move on him, things worsened.
Hearing the commotion outside, not to mention Cecilia and Revna, who were nearby, even Claire and Sasha got dressed before heading out to see what was happening. And so, four unique beauties, each with their own special charm, walked out of the house one after another, a sight to be envied.
It was there that things took a step in the wrong direction. Had a historian been present, he would describe the following scene as the stupidest suicide of the century. The name-yet-to-be-announced subject made a bold statement about what could only be the result of a cerebral embolism.
“God has to be blind; to think he will allow you to have such beauties. On second thought, God works in mysterious ways, maybe this is his way of telling me to hurry up and defeat you, so these beauties can see how pathetic you are. Don’t worry, girls, you will soon see what a real man is. More importantly, soon, I will make you feel what a real man is capable of.”
Since he never got to give his name, the person he became known as the nameless idiot, didn’t even finish moving his hip in a vulgar way before a purple energy dagger was shot out in an attempt to amputate his hand. 𝒇𝚛e𝘦wℯ𝑏𝓃𝑜νℯ𝒍.co𝗺
However, the nameless idiot was more capable than he seemed. Being a high-level aura user, dodging Claire’s attack wasn’t too tricky. Still, that was just the beginning of the end for the nameless idiot.
With a gesture full of anger, Claire formed a fan of purple blades in an instant around her before shooting forward. Showing quite sharp reflexes and a high degree of martial training, the nameless idiot managed to use his speed to avoid being impaled by Claire’s fit of rage, but not before shedding a bead of cold sweat.
As the face of the nameless idiot turned serious, Claire managed to mutter a few words through her teeth. “Insulting my Desmond was your worst mistake.”
The nameless idiot was barely thinking of an answer when a cold and dangerous feeling ran down his spine. The sense of danger came from a red-haired woman with an explosive figure who emerged from the shadow of the nameless idiot. As expected, in Revna’s eyes, a spiral of insanity and murderous intent was all that could be seen.
“No one but the Master can be considered a real man; the rest are scum.” After letting out a somewhat insane statement, Revna finished with something even worse. “.”
The nameless idiot tried to use aura to bolster his defenses, but the dark mana on Revna’s delicate fingertips was too dense and sharp. Revna’s hand met little resistance as it swept across the side of the man’s torso before emerging on the other side.
Ignoring the small, dainty hand that was now protruding from his ribs, the nameless idiot showed that he had at least some guts, and ignoring the pain, he spun around to try and punch Revna with an aura-filled fist.
Everything happened incredibly fast; in less than two seconds, things went from insults to attempted murder. Still, what confused Desmond was that he usually was the one trying to kill others; this was the first time he had seen the girls jump on the offensive in such a frenzy.
Seeing the current state of affairs and that Revna was about to be hit by the idiot’s counterattack, Desmond prepared to intervene, only to realize he was one step too late.
Before Desmond made his move, the aura-filled punch traveling toward Revna stopped in its tracks. Cecilia stepped in ahead of Desmond, using a barrier to protect Revna. Desmond found it unheard of, but that golden shield in the shape of a four-pointed star could only be Cecilia’s doing.
As if that wasn’t enough, contrary to what Desmond expected, Cecilia didn’t intervene to stop the fight; instead, she blocked the attack and let the battle continue. Desmond looked back to find a pair of four-pointed stars shining deep in Cecilia’s pupils and the vermilion fire whip in Sasha’s hands. Desmond made the wise decision to shut his mouth and watch in silence.
Recognizing that her opponent’s reaction speed was higher than expected, Revna changed tack, using feints and shadow casts to overwhelm her opponent’s senses. Revna’s change of strategy proved effective, and little by little, the nameless idiot began to experience death by a hundred cuts; Or so it would have been if his only opponent was Revna.
As soon as Claire sensed a breach in the nameless idiot’s defenses, she launched one of her daggers of concentrated telekinetic force, which found its way to her opponent’s right thigh. When the dagger pierced his flesh, it collapsed in a burst of telekinetic power that nearly severed the leg from the rest of the body.
After the nameless idiot lost a leg, what followed could no longer be called a fight. Claire and Revna basically took turns torturing the nameless jerk until he was knocked unconscious. Contrary to Desmond’s expectations, they did not kill him. 𝘧𝑟𝘦𝒆w𝚎𝙗nov𝘦𝗹.𝐜o𝓶
Truth be told, Desmond even felt a little sorry for the nameless idiot, though that feeling faded when Desmond remembered what the idiot had been yelling at.
What made Desmond speechless was all the violence and savagery displayed by the girls. Leaving aside Claire and Revna, the perpetrators of the barbarism that occurred, the surprising thing was that the usually calm and peaceful Sasha and Cecilia were ready to join the slaughter.
In hindsight, to understand what happened, one only had to pay attention to what the girls were screaming as they tortured the nameless idiot.
“You piece of shit, how dare you to insult the Master? Compared to the Master, all men are scum.” (Revna)
“Do you want to compare yourself to my Desmond? Is your brain rotten? I barely feel my legs from what he did to me last night. It takes you a thousand years to say that you are a real man.” (Claire)
“I don’t like violence, but I can’t forgive you for coming and destroying our home.” (Sasha)
“Without understanding the weight he carries on his shoulders, how dare you judge him?” (Cecilia)
Leaving aside the strange details in the insults, the situation could be summarized as follows: An idiot came and insulted a man who was loved by a group of dangerous women; the idiot suffered.
Looking at the pathetic excuse of a disfigured person lying on the ground, Desmond lost heart to deal with the matter, and with a call, he tasked the Garden girls to deal with the mess.
In addition to Desmond’s realization about how dangerous the women living with him were, Desmond was thinking about what had caused the whole incident. Although this might seem like an isolated incident, Desmond saw through it and understood that this was just a tiny symptom of a larger problem brewing under the surface.
Having thought this far, Desmond shook his head; since those things were beyond his control, the best he could do now was to deal with the problems as they arose.
“I should have known that the peace would not last long.” Desmond had no idea at the time how prophetic his words would prove.
