Path of Alchemy Mastery-Chapter 26 The Whereabouts of the Mu Family’s Ancestor
Chapter 26: Chapter 26 The Whereabouts of the Mu Family's Ancestor
Mu Can, upon hearing that Purple Cloud had made a discovery, forgot about his headache, and flipped over to sit upon the jade stone.
He scrutinized the characters on the jade stone once more.
Perplexed, he asked, "Sister Yun, what did you find? I can't understand the characters on this jade. The Alchemy Technique of the Mu Family has long been lost."
The Mu Family was originally known for its Alchemy Technique; the Fire King Cauldron was their famous Alchemy Cauldron.
However, since an ancestor of the Mu Family left with the Fire King Cauldron, the Alchemy Technique of the Mu Family has been lost.
Not only for the Mu Family, but the Alchemy Technique of almost the entire Human World seemed to have regressed tens of thousands of years at that time.
Although Mu Can did not know what happened in which era, he only knew that later the Mu family lineage moved to Pingyun City with the Fire King Cauldron.
After settling in Pingyun City, the Mu Family's Alchemy Technique might have declined, but they still became the top family in the city due to the strong foundation of their clan.
"What if I told you the Mu Family originated from the Immortal World? Would you believe me?" Purple Cloud did not answer his question, but instead posed a question to him.
"How could that be? Even if we had an ancestor around, our strength now would only make us a third-rate family," Mu Can had a good understanding of the Mu Family's strength.
With just a Martial King Level expert in charge, that was sufficient to dominate a small city like Pingyun City.
Once outside Pingyun City, in the midst of some larger families, the Mu Family was nothing at all.
"The Alchemy Technique of the Mu Family has never been completely severed; it's just that you never discovered the hidden Elixir Book," Purple Cloud said as she casually waved her hand, and a golden book was thrown out from the Reincarnation Pearl.
Mu Can only saw a flash of golden light, and a golden glittering book appeared before his eyes.
The Elixir Book dawned the entire Altar in gold. Mu Can squinted his eyes slightly, intensely focusing on the Elixir Book before him and asked.
"Is this the Mu Family's Pill Book? Sister Yun, where did you find it?"

Today's events felt too bizarre to Mu Can; the Mu Family's ancestor had disappeared without a trace, only for Sister Yun to have found the long-lost Elixir Book of the Mu Family.
The tradition of the Alchemy Dao was carried on by the Elixir Book, which could only be written by Pill Masters at the Great Alchemist level or above.
The higher the ability of the Pill Master, the more prestigious the Elixir Book they could pass down.
Judging by this Elixir Book of the Mu Family, it would require at least a Pill Master of Pill King Level or above to have written it.
"Yes, your blood dripped onto the jade just now, and then this book appeared," Purple Cloud said somewhat hesitantly.
"My blood? How did I start bleeding?" Mu Can reached up to touch his face, found no wounds, and asked in confusion.
"Why do you care so much? In any case, it was your blood that activated this jade stone. The book was originally sealed within it," Purple Cloud spoke as though she was a bit angry.
She didn't want Mu Can to know that it was because of her that he had suffered severe injuries and vomited blood.
Mu Can rubbed his still somewhat aching head and asked again.
"Then Sister Yun, how do you know that the Mu Family comes from the Immortal World?"
Purple Cloud looked at the Elixir Book floating in the air above the altar and said lightly, "Because this book belonged to me back when I was in the Immortal World."
Mu Can looked at the quietly hovering Elixir Book in shock, finding it hard to believe as he spoke.
"Purple Cloud, are you saying that this book belongs to you?" Mu Can knew about Purple Cloud's origin and wore a look of surprise.
"Yes, this book was something I stumbled upon. I don't really know its specific origin, but because the Alchemy Techniques documented in the latter part of this Elixir Book are too evil, I have kept it in my Book Collection Pavilion all along," Purple Cloud explained. Even she felt the malevolence when mentioning the Alchemy Techniques recorded in the back of the book.
"However, I have no idea how it appeared in the Human World. It takes a great price to enter the Human World from the Heavenly Realm, but the style of this Secret Land seems like it is the handiwork of the Immortal World," Purple Cloud continued.
"Alas, now that the ancient ancestor is missing, I have no clue about the actual situation," said Mu Can, troubled.
He had thought that entering here would allow him to meet the ancient ancestor, or at least ask him a few questions. But now it seemed that all was wishful thinking.
Yet new questions had piqued Mu Can's curiosity. What exactly was the background of the Mu Family? Was the ancestor of the Mu Family dead or missing?
Why had he left words carved on the jade, warning descendants of the Mu Family not to cultivate the Mu Family's Pill Book?
"I have a guess. He probably discovered the Elixir Book within the jade, and after studying it, underwent some kind of unpredictable change. Judging from my earlier experience, it was likely something I have seen before. Before the change occurred, he left inscriptions on the jade. This green strand of hair should be a piece of evidence, but I still can't figure out what actually happened. However, one thing I can be sure of is that you might meet him again in the future," Purple Cloud shared her speculation.
Although he didn't understand what was going on, Mu Can instinctively felt that what Purple Cloud suggested might be very close to the truth.
In thinking so, he forgot about his headache. Mu Can slapped his head and then grimaced in pain.
"What's wrong? Kid? Why are you going crazy?" Purple Cloud thought that Mu Can was possessed, seeing him slap himself like that.
"I remember a place, there might be some clues," Mu Can said, disregarding the pain as he spoke eagerly.
"Which place?" Purple Cloud asked, puzzled.
"The Mu Family's Martial Pavilion," Mu Can revealed a place that was most likely hiding secrets.
The Mu Family's Martial Pavilion contained various Cultivation Technique Books collected by generations of Family Heads. Most importantly, the family's genealogy was also inside the pavilion.
The pavilion was divided into nine levels. When it was constructed, it had consumed a huge amount of the Mu Family's effort.
Its defensive capabilities were in no way inferior to those of the family's Secret Land, and only the Elders, second in status to the ancient ancestor, oversaw it.
"How could I not have thought of it? Even if the family records don't mention it, the Elder guarding the pavilion is not permitted to leave unless the Mu Family is at risk of extinction,"
said Mu Can, excitedly. The events of the day had made him forget about the existence in the Mu Family, second only to the ancient ancestor.
He still remembered, before he went to the Ancient Academy as a child, how he frequently visited the Martial Pavilion to peruse those books.
However, he had never been to the ninth floor of the Martial Pavilion; according to family rules, only the Clan Leader had the right to ascend to the ninth floor.
Purple Cloud looked at Mu Can as if he were an idiot, "You haven't said where the Martial Pavilion is?"
"Right, don't move just yet. I'll collect this strange strand of hair. It might be useful in the future."
With that, a suction came forth, and the green hair instantly vanished within the jade.
"Then let's leave," Mu Can nodded and said after seeing the green hair being taken into the Reincarnation Pearl by Purple Cloud.
"Are you still going to cultivate here?" Purple Cloud asked.
Mu Can thought for a moment and said, "I've already gone through it once; there wouldn't be much effect a second time."
"Then let's go," said Purple Cloud. She was now very curious to find out the true origin of the Mu Family.
