PAMPERED BY MY THREE BROTHERS: THE RETURN OF THE NEGLECTED HEIRESS-Chapter 1814: So, will you just die for everyone’s sake?
Chapter 1814: So, will you just die for everyone’s sake?
"For you, who had been giving your all and making her death your goal, how did that feel?"
A moment of silence fell upon them as their eyes locked.
For Nathalie, who wanted nothing but to win a war against her sisters, it surely didn’t sit well that Naylani was conceding. That Naylani found something else more important than leading the Zorken Family or the Shadow Order.
It must have been a slap to her face.
"Isn’t that why... even when Naylani conceded, you still thought of ruining her life?" Zoren continued, his voice calm, but his words clear and sharp. "Because you cannot accept that... you’re the only one who wanted to win this war so badly. You didn’t win, Nathalie."
He shook his head. "You killed her and my father; lied to them and hurt them—but me, being here, only proves you didn’t outsmart Naylani." fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
Because, in the beginning, Nathalie believed Zoren was not truly Naylani’s son. That Zoren was just a child she swapped so she could hurt Naylani in a way she knew would devastate the latter.
Wasn’t that the reason Nathalie was compelled to lie to Zoren during the last moments of her first life? Because that was the only thing Nathalie could do to hurt them all.
"Naylani gave you a satisfying show to keep you full for years, and by doing so, protected her son, whom you thought was just somebody not worth your attention," he added, his voice dropping. "And you took the bait just the way she planned. So, between you and your sister, who was the fool?"
The smile on Nathalie’s face slowly faded until it was gone. For some reason, Naylani’s last moments flashed in her eyes, and the faint chuckle Naylani made before she finally took her last breath.
That laugh, that was full of mockery, which Nathalie thought was Naylani’s last retaliation.
"And tonight, I’ll fix that." After a moment, Nathalie’s voice was heard once more. "You, her, your father... I wonder if you’ll ever reunite or still remain broken, since we both know Enzo Pierson and Naylani went to different places."
She shrugged indifferently. "And you? I don’t know. Maybe you’ll be in hell or heaven. But at least, you won’t be an orphan... I hope."
"And you say that with so much certainty?"
"Pfft—" Nathalie stifled a laugh, covering her lips with the back of her hand. "Of course, I say that with certainty. Zoren Pierson, you walking in here... I assume you know you’ll not walk out of here alive, do you? Not even in a body bag."
She tipped her head to the side. "I brought some of my favorite pets to this place. I’m sure they’ll love every piece of you."
"Now that I mention it, you and I have something in common," she added in a slightly livelier tone. "I own a few pets, and you own... a panther. I guess you got that from me."
Zoren raised his brows a bit as he leaned back comfortably. "I do not like how that sounds."
"A little bit of appreciation for your aunt, as I am the only one on your mother’s side that you can truly call family."
Hearing that, Zoren couldn’t help but let out a shallow chuckle. His reaction caused her brows to rise.
"Do you hate the idea that much?"
"Not really," he chuckled, shaking his head. "I am simply astounded at how the word ’family’ sounds so different from people."
"Oh?"
"Family... you are correct, we are, technically, family," he tilted his head, just thinking of the idea. "I didn’t consider that until now."
Nathalie chuckled as she raised her chin. "Zoren Pierson, do you want everyone to survive tonight?"
Her sudden shift of subject from casual family talk to tonight’s happenings almost took him off guard. She smiled, cocking her head to the side.
"I’ll spare them—all of them," she continued. "All of this that is happening will come to a stop just from a word from me. All I need is to say a word, and just like how you came in here so easily, I’ll let them all in as guests."
Zoren arched a brow. "Intriguing, and what do you want in exchange?"
"Your life." Her answer was quick. "Your will—everything you own."
"I never thought everything in my name was worth anything to you."
"They do not, but it’ll serve my amusement." She shrugged. "What do you think? It’s not like I have any plans for letting you live tonight, but isn’t it better to make your death worthwhile? I don’t think your insignificant little life is worth everyone else’s."
Another wave of silence blew past them as the two of them stared at each other. The words that escaped her mouth were so casual, but sincere. And somehow, Zoren didn’t doubt her offer.
Why?
Because he knew that in Nathalie’s eyes, Zoren’s life was akin to that of an insect. A life that had no value in her eyes.
"What I find amusing, though, is that for some reason, Jonathan didn’t want Penelope Bennet in all of this," she continued with amusement, now bringing up Penny just because Naylani and Enzo didn’t move him. "I find it strange, even though he said the Smiths are the better fit. Although I must admit, his plans were quite effective. He’s such a fickle person."
She paused, her taps on the armrest slowing until they stopped. "All I’m saying is, save your wife, Zoren. In the past, you didn’t save her, and even if you were able to clear her name and take down every person involved in her death, she died."
"Do not let her face the same fate again," she added. "This time, do not be the sole reason she dies."
"Give up yours, and I’ll make sure to spare her," she encouraged, nodding at him. "Your life may mean nothing to both of us, but hers? I believe her life means something to you."
She stopped again, assessing the look on Zoren’s face. "Save the poor girl, save everyone, because there isn’t a code for you to claim anymore. No one else is coming, Zoren."
"No one." She shook her head, leaning once more until her arms were resting on the edge of the table. Her eyes locked with his, nodding at him as if to emphasize her words.
"So, will you just die for everyone’s sake?"
