PAMPERED BY MY THREE BROTHERS: THE RETURN OF THE NEGLECTED HEIRESS-Chapter 1787: Are you this trusting?!
Chapter 1787: Are you this trusting?!
Penny’s plan was simple.
To catch if there was a mole. Thus, the three of them just idled on the island. Penny, Shawn, Slater, and their three hostages stared at the sky until a helicopter finally came into view. They tried guessing who was inside the chopper, with Penny even wanting to put a bet on it.
Obviously, neither Slater nor Shawn agreed with the bet. So, in the end, she forced the other three hostages—including the unconscious one—to have a bet with her.
And just like that, they started counting all the aircraft that passed by them before sending their own.
To do that, Penny devised a plan to make the chopper fly on its own without anyone in it. Using some extra gauze, they wrapped all the handles and buttons. But to start it, someone needed to be inside and get it to the sky.
So, Shawn volunteered—or rather, Slater forced him to do it.
With that, Shawn maneuvered the chopper until he was above the clouds, spinning around the area without alerting anyone. Once everything was set, he moved it and fixed it to the hill. However, before it even came into view, Shawn already jumped out with a parachute strapped around him.
By the time he reached the ocean, Penny and Slater were already in the smaller helicopter—the one Slater used—and picked him up from there. They then made their way to another island closer to their target, and from there, they stole a raft to bring them to the next point.
However, when they reached the next island, they almost got caught up in a battle between two groups. Hence, they ended up in this small hut somewhere near the main road but far enough to avoid getting noticed if someone drove past them.
And somehow, Penny wanted to stay in this place.

[Present Time]
"No! You’ll infect my Tiana!" Penny yelled, erasing Slater’s drawing with her foot. "Stay away from us."
Slater yelled back, "Why do you keep erasing my drawings?" He then extended his long leg and erased half of the girl’s stick figure.
Amid Penny and Slater’s nonsense bickering, they paused when they suddenly heard a loud rotor sound. Looking up, their brows knitted as they caught sight of a chopper flying in the distance.
Slater got up on instinct, eyes locked on the aircraft that was flying low over the island.
"That’s got to be Mint," he said, turning to the other two. "We should start moving." freewёbnoνel.com
Penny blinked and sighed a bit. "But didn’t we agree that we’d go to the mansion first?"
"Infiltrating the mansion right now, with Homeland Security touching down, will give us enough of an opening," Shawn said, nodding at them. "However, that’s still not a guarantee that we’ll get in or even survive."
A moment of silence fell on them, mainly because the reason they were idling was that they were waiting for the party to turn up. By that, they were waiting for Mint and her team to turn this place upside down.
With Mint making her grand entrance, the enemies—whatever they were—would divert their focus to their group. And Penny, who was supposed to be dead, would have more free time on her hands.
"Okay!" Penny dusted her hands off as she got up. At the same time, Shawn also rose to his feet. The three of them looked at each other and nodded to themselves.
But just as they began to move, they paused at the noise from behind them. Shawn and Slater, armed with rifles, quickly pointed their rifles at where the sound came from. Penny, on the other hand, just blinked and looked back.
The three of them furrowed their brows, eyes falling on an elderly woman standing just outside the hut.
"Huh?" Penny cocked her head to the side. "Granny, were you inside the hut all along?"
"Penny."
"Miss Penny." Shawn and Slater spoke at the same time, their tone giving her a warning.
Both men kept their rifles aimed at the old lady, a part of them scanning their surroundings as well. After all, even if the person in front of them was an old lady, they wouldn’t lower their guard.
"We checked the hut," Slater added, reminding Penny. "But there’s no one in there."
The old lady frowned as she eyed the three of them before her gaze landed on the young lady in the middle.
"But there weren’t any lights inside," Penny mumbled. "Who knows? We might’ve missed her."
The old lady’s face twisted in displeasure. "Yes, I was inside, and you two had been so loud! Can’t you young ones see it’s nighttime?!"
Slater frowned, while Shawn didn’t react, still holding his rifle at the old lady cautiously. As for Penny, she slapped her hands together.
"Sorry, Granny! We thought no one was inside—" she stopped as her complexion slowly paled, her eyes widening.
Her sudden pause made Slater and Shawn glance at her. Seeing the horror on her face, they quickly turned their attention to the old lady. In their minds, Penny must’ve seen something they hadn’t. But then, Penny gasped.
"Granny, are you even real!?" she asked in horror. "Or are you—are you a ghost?!"
Shawn: "..."
Slater: "For crying out loud..."
The old grandma frowned deeply, clearly not pleased by Penny’s comment. "Young lady, you come here for a second."
Penny flinched and leaned back, shaking her head. "My body’s not good for possession."
Slater, holding his rifle at the grandma, spoke. "We don’t want anything in here. We are leaving."
"Do not do anything suspicious, or we’ll open fire," Shawn backed up. "We do not want to hurt you."
"Hey, stop pointing that at the old grandma," Penny frowned before turning to the old lady. "Grandma, just let us go, alright?! These two don’t have much patience, and they might hurt you!"
The old lady’s frown deepened just looking at Penny. "Even with a tank pointed at me, I’ve lived a long life. Ending it now is not so bad."
"Oh." Penny nodded. "That makes sense."
"Now, you come here." She waved at Penny. "Fast, young lady!"
"Penny, don’t," Slater warned.
"Everyone on this island is a master of weapons, Miss Penny," Shawn added. "Don’t trust her."
Penny blinked and turned to her left and right. When her gaze landed on the old lady once more, she cocked her head to the side.
After a second, her smile stretched. "It’s alright!" she mused and walked toward the old lady.
"Penny!"
"Miss Penny!"
Both Shawn and Slater stepped forward, but stopped as Penny looked back at them with a smile.
"I think she’s a good person," was all she said, stopping when she was in front of the old lady. "Granny, you’re quite small—ack!"
"Miss Pen—" Shawn stopped while Slater furrowed his brows, watching the old lady slap Penny’s shoulder.
"You young lady! What do you think you’re doing with two men at this hour, huh?!" the old lady scolded, slapping Penny’s shoulder once more. "And why would you approach a stranger? Are you this trusting?!"
Penny winced as another slap landed on her shoulder. "Ouch, Granny!"
Meanwhile, Slater and Shawn just stared at Penny and the old lady, thinking,
’What in the world is going on here?’
