Chapter 499: Chapter 499: Someone

"Thank you for your kindness," An Yin mumbled softly.

The man’s solemn tone, like a promise, made An Yin feel uneasy.

That night, even when it was close to bedtime, An Yin’s mind was still lingering on the man’s words.

The next morning.

An Yin woke up very early, perhaps because she had too much on her mind. After getting up, she swiftly went to the bathroom, and when she came out of the bedroom, she saw the man already sitting on the sofa in the living room.

"Morning!" An Yin greeted the man awkwardly.

Seeing the man so early in the morning made An Yin feel a bit uncomfortable, and her speech was tinged with a bit of shyness.

"Let’s have breakfast together."

Bao Shaojin stood up, his tall figure appearing next to An Yin.

An Yin’s eyes flickered as she looked at the man’s serene and cold profile, "Oh."

The aunt had already prepared breakfast. On the dining table, there were both Chinese and Western dishes. However, considering that the young girl had just been discharged from the hospital, Bao Shaojin made sure the breakfast was as bland and simple as possible.

The two sat side by side.

An Yin had just settled in when she saw the man take out a small chip from somewhere.

"SIM card," he said in a clear voice.

Though An Yin knew the man was true to his word, she was still surprised at how quickly he acted. She looked down, her eyes fixed on the small chip, feeling extremely excited.

"Thank you." Her lips parted slightly, and her voice trembled a little as she spoke.

"Take out your phone," the man ordered.

Moving slowly, An Yin took it out, and before she could hand it over, he took it from her.

An Yin looked at him with a bit of surprise, "What are you doing?"

Bao Shaojin ignored her startled expression, glanced towards the aunt, and said, "Auntie, help her install the card."

"Okay."

The aunt respectfully stepped forward, taking the phone and the card away.

Fortunately, the girl’s phone could hold two SIM cards.

As the aunt gradually walked away, An Yin tilted her head, her gaze lingering where the aunt had disappeared.

Seeing that all her attention was on the SIM card, Bao Shaojin said in a deep voice, "Not hungry?"

An Yin’s thoughts were pulled back. The man’s tone was stiff, as if he might really let her leave on an empty stomach if she said she wasn’t hungry. During her hospital stay, she had been eating things like porridge every day, which made her feel quite frustrated.

Finally seeing the delicate little pork buns on the table, her focus shifted to the food.

"Hungry," she muttered softly, puffing out her cheeks.

Seeing the young girl was about to pick up a pork bun with her chopsticks, Bao Shaojin reminded her with a frown, "Drink some warm water first."

Knowing she was careless and ignorant of such matters, as he had learned about gastrointestinal precautions from the doctor, he had to keep an eye on her.

An Yin retracted her hand and followed the man’s instructions.

In a daze, An Yin always felt that the man beside her was like an elder, his words tinged with a lecturing tone, making her feel nervous and anxious.

An Yin absentmindedly finished her breakfast.

When she came to the living room, the aunt had already returned the phone to her.

The first thing she did when she turned it on was to save a phone number. However, when entering the contact name, her fingertips hesitated and hovered over the screen. After silently contemplating for three seconds, she entered two words.

Someone.

She was too unfamiliar with the man to call him anything other than "Someone" for the time being.

When she typed those two words, the man unknowingly stood behind her. With a casual glance, he took in all the information on her screen. Since this involved Aunt An, the "Someone" she entered likely had some special connection to Aunt An as well.

Bao Shaojin didn’t want to speculate further because this was the young girl’s family matter.

The new SIM card only contained one number. An Yin stared at it for a while before remembering that she had classes today.

In her flustered state, she turned around and accidentally bumped her elbow into the man’s side, causing him to grunt in discomfort. An Yin was startled, "Sorry, I didn’t know you were standing there. Are you okay?"

The young girl’s bright, star-like eyes fell on the man’s face, her eyebrows slightly furrowed, showing genuine concern that she might have hurt him.

The man’s waist couldn’t be touched...

Bao Shaojin’s deep gaze fell on the young girl’s fair neck, his gaze gradually becoming deep and dark. Since he lay down last night, he felt a rush of heat running through him, the whole person becoming hot and restless. Even after taking two cold showers, it couldn’t quell the agitation within him.

As long as she was around, even with a wall between them, he couldn’t sleep.

Last night, he probably only slept for an hour or two. When he got up, he spent another hour in the gym to push down the desires in his heart before coming back to the living room.

Now, with the young girl so close, he could even smell the fragrance emanating from her body. Instantly, Bao Shaojin took a deep breath, feeling his body undergoing some subtle changes, ensuring she didn’t notice.

He turned away with a stern face, "Stay here, I’ll take you to school later." With that, he walked briskly towards the bedroom.

The man’s firm steps suggested he had something urgent to deal with. An Yin retracted her puzzled gaze and quickly turned her attention back to her contacts.

An Yin waited for half an hour.

When the man finally came out, An Yin couldn’t help but look at his somewhat damp, tousled hair a few more times, wondering: Did he take a shower early in the morning?

Such a private question, of course, An Yin didn’t dare to ask him.

After tidying up a bit, An Yin followed the man downstairs.

From Jiangjin Garden to T University wasn’t far, just a few minutes’ drive.

When they arrived at the underground parking lot, An Yin saw Assistant Lin already waiting by the car. Before he could speak, she called out with a smile, "Assistant Lin!"

Her smile was sweet and charming, even her voice soft and gentle.

Assistant Lin looked at her with slight trepidation. Noticing Mr. Bao’s indifferent and distant cold expression, Assistant Lin immediately and coolly greeted, "Mr. Bao, Miss An." As he spoke, he had already opened the door to the back seat, his eyes very disciplined, not daring to look back at An Yin.

An Yin’s enthusiastic greeting was met with a cold response, so she awkwardly retracted her gaze. Perhaps, after spending so much time with Bao Shaojin, his chilly and imposing demeanor rubbed off on those around him, so she wasn’t too surprised.

After all, one turns black by being near ink!

An Yin couldn’t help but mutter inwardly.

Not long after getting in the car, it started to move.

An Yin looked at the back of Assistant Lin’s head, her gaze shifting several times, but she didn’t speak.
