Chapter 498: Chapter 498: SIM Card

At parting, An Ying repeatedly instructed Bao Shaojin to help send her daughter to school.

However, after An Yin got into the car and it drove into the neighborhood, she suddenly realized that the complex in front of her was none other than "Jiangjin Garden," which wasn’t far from the school!

That crafty man, two-faced when in front of mom!

An Ying sat in the passenger seat, her small mouth pouting high, clearly showing her discontent.

However, what intrigued the man was that the little girl didn’t resist? She hadn’t even uttered a single complaint? That was odd.

After parking the car, An Yin cheerfully followed behind the man, taking the designated elevator upstairs.

Her lively eyes blinked as if she were thinking about something.

The little girl was petite, with her head down, and at this moment, she looked just like a little puppy, extra cute and obedient.

Arriving at the door, Bao Shaojin unlocked it with his fingerprint and changed shoes at the entrance.

An Yin followed behind him, like a shadow.

The auntie was just coming out of the kitchen with fruit. Seeing the two of them, she wasn’t surprised at all and respectfully said, "Mr. Bao, Miss An!"

An Yin replied warmly, "Hello, Auntie!"

The auntie placed the fruit on the coffee table and then put two cups of warm water on the table before retreating.

The man crossed his long legs, sitting properly, took a sip of water, then placed it down lightly, his movements graceful and exuding an innate sense of nobility.

"Have a seat." Bao Shaojin’s gaze was calm and naturally fell on the little girl.

"Oh." An Yin nodded, internally contemplating how to start speaking since she had something to ask him for help.

Their relationship was very delicate, seemingly closer than ordinary friends, yet sometimes he appeared enigmatic, with an underlying sense of aloofness.

An Yin moved to the position on the man’s right. After sitting down, the soft sofa enveloped her, giving a sense of comfort and relaxation.

However, to speak with the man, she had to look up, as he towered over her beside her.

"What do you want to say?" Bao Shaojin got straight to the point. From his understanding of the little girl, her bashful nature meant she might sit there all day without speaking up.

"Wha-what do you mean?" An Yin feigned ignorance because she hadn’t figured out how to say it yet.

"An Yin." Bao Shaojin raised an eyebrow, the coldness in his eyes making one shiver.

"I’ll say it. I’ll say it." An Yin’s breathing became ragged, her timid gaze never daring to meet his, mumbling, "Can you help me with something?"

"You little ingrate, when haven’t I helped you with what you said?" The man’s tone was indulgent, as he casually remarked when he glanced at her.

Though upon closer analysis, his words seemed somewhat ambiguous.

In the spacious hall, the auntie had turned on all the lights since they entered, brightly illuminating every corner, even capturing the subtle expressions on their faces.

The man’s deep eyes swept over the little girl, noticing her ear tips faintly turning red and her eyes avoiding his, a shadow of darkness flickered in his gaze.

An Yin’s hands kept twisting the hem of her clothes, the ambiguous comment from earlier made her heart uncontrollably race.

He clearly insulted her, yet why did she feel a sense of intimacy in that sentence? She must be overthinking it.

An Yin took a deep breath, waiting for her heart to calm down gradually.

"I want to ask you to help me get a phone card." An Yin whispered.

"Is your current one not usable?"

The man’s tone was neither high nor low, his elegant and serene demeanor adding an air of tranquility and detachment.

"I’m using it." She mumbled.

Her lips, like ripe cherries, were moist and supple, always carrying a faint smile at the corners. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

"Why do you need another one?"

Bao Shaojin’s dark eyes glinted with a mysterious gloom behind his fringe.

"I, I have some private matters that need it." An Yin’s voice grew softer, and even she didn’t know why she turned to him for help first.

Since when had she become so reliant on him?

"Okay." Bao Shaojin uttered a single word.

An Yin knew that meant he agreed, "Thank you."

The little girl looked up, her bright eyes shimmering, long hair cascading softly, exuding a subtle fragrance, like a blooming flower, captivating and charming.

Bao Shaojin cleared his hoarse throat, "You don’t want others to find out this number is yours?" From the moment she spoke, Bao Shaojin guessed this possibility.

It wasn’t surprising, considering her reluctance to ask for favors, she probably wouldn’t have approached him for help.

An Yin’s eyes lit up.

Bao Shaojin saw her surprised expression and knew he guessed correctly.

"Yes." An Yin honestly admitted, under the man’s gaze, she always felt that no matter what she said, the man could guess her thoughts.

Seeing her evasive eyes, Bao Shaojin judged she wouldn’t dare use the card for anything bad, so he didn’t see the need to press further.

"Stay here tonight, and I’ll have someone bring it to you tomorrow. Rest assured, I guarantee no one will trace this number back to you."

His cold face, with sharp and well-defined features, now bore a proud and aloof demeanor.

"Can’t it be done now?" An Yin blurted out after he finished speaking.

Bao Shaojin glanced sideways, surprised at how impatient the little girl was. Initially, he had thought he should respect her privacy and not pry, but her urgency piqued his curiosity instead.

Seeing no response, An Yin anxiously turned her head, clashing with the man’s deep, dark eyes, her heartbeat quickening, "Actually, t-tomorrow is fine too!"

She grew more uneasy as she spoke, almost burying her head into her chest.

"This matter, is it related to Auntie An?" Bao Shaojin suddenly asked.

Startling An Yin to sit up straight, "You, you..." An Yin bit her lip, softly saying, "How do you know everything?"

You little fool, it’s because whatever you’re thinking is written all over your face! Bao Shaojin thought to himself.

To protect her dignity, Bao Shaojin quietly said, "Just a guess."

An Yin felt a rush of panic, not expecting his guess to be so accurate, "I don’t want to tell anyone about this for the time being." Thinking of what she was about to do, An Yin murmured.

Though she was eager to dial "Dad’s" number immediately, would she truly have the courage to call once she had the card? At this thought, An Yin’s face clouded with a hint of sadness.

"In the future, no matter what it is, you can come to me for help." Bao Shaojin narrowed his eyes, his tone strong and domineering.

An Yin’s petite body trembled slightly.
