"Want a drink?"
Faced with the sudden inquiry, Nora Scott and Katherine Collins were both taken aback.
Katherine found the person unfamiliar, though, since she already had prior interactions with the cast members, even though it was Nora’s first official day with the crew, she recognized him.
His name was Hiram.
A year or two older than her, professionally trained, and had gained quite a bit of popularity after appearing in a hit series before graduating. He also signed with a company with relatively good resources. However, his performance post-graduation was average, and in the past two years, he only had opportunities in supporting roles.
Fortunately, he indeed had the acting skills, and his looks were decent. Though his popularity wasn’t what it used to be, he still got some roles. This time, his standout performance at the "Reversing Life" audition earned him a role with some screen time, showing his capability.
Since she played a colleague of Hiram’s, Nora had interacted with him a few times and had some impression of him, even remembering his real name.
But, they weren’t close.
Seeing that neither Nora nor Katherine reacted immediately, Hiram paused slightly, his smile stiffening a bit, explaining, "The weather is so hot, so I asked my assistant to get some cold drinks. Everyone has one."
Nora wanted to say "No thanks," but after Katherine noticed that the surrounding staff and actors were holding cold drinks, confirming that Hiram was telling the truth, she curved her lips and accepted the kindness, "Ah, thank you."
Seeing her acceptance, Hiram immediately sighed in relief, glanced at Nora, and then went to get their drinks.
Not many were left. He gave Katherine a few choices and then took out a cup of grass jelly specifically for Nora, smiling, "I remember you like grass jelly drinks."
Nora raised an eyebrow.
Katherine: "..."
"Thanks."
Pausing slightly, Nora leaned against the wall, reached out, and took the grass jelly drink.
"I also bought some snacks, not sure if you like them." Hiram looked down, staring at Nora, his voice slightly trembling as he spoke, seemingly a bit nervous.
"Nora can’t have snacks while filming," Katherine, who had just punctured her cold drink with a straw, suddenly leaned closer, smiling at Hiram, "She’s prone to gaining weight."
"I see." Hiram chuckled, slightly embarrassed.
"..."
Without saying a word, Nora pushed a straw into the grass jelly drink, thinking to herself since when she was "prone to gaining weight."
Hiram didn’t show much emotion. After briefly chatting with the two, he was called away by his assistant.
Nora bit the straw, drinking the few sips of milk tea amidst a large cup full of ingredients, her eyes half-lowered, rehearsing the lines for the upcoming scene in her mind.
——Thanks to the supervision of Katherine and Henry Chapman, she could recite all the lines belonging to her character by heart. As for others’ lines, as long as they had scenes together, she could remember more than half of them.
Now, no matter which scene the director wanted to shoot, she wasn’t afraid at all.
"Nora, do you get pursued a lot?"
Katherine stood by Nora’s side, sipping her cold drink and playing with her phone, seemingly chatting casually with Nora.
Nora responded flatly, "Not much."
There were more pursuers in school and during filming. On trips, there would be as well.
But in the Martial World... everyone kept to themselves, just hoping she wouldn’t approach them.
And now, Nora hadn’t acted for more than two years, and upon entering the set, still found the environment quite unfamiliar.
Oh, over these two years, the crew’s filming equipment, professional skill level, costumes, and props... have all significantly improved.
It might also be related to the crew having a good budget.
"..."
Katherine said nothing more, still biting the straw, slightly raising her eyes, silently staring at Nora’s flawless face that could overpower all the female actors on set, then swallowed a sip of cold drink, unsure of what to say.
——Perhaps, with such beauty in front, any less outstanding young man would feel unworthy of her.
With such thoughts, Katherine sent a message reporting the suspicion that someone in the crew was pursuing Nora to Pedro Langley.
[Katherine Collins]: Dad, your daughter can only help you this much. You better treat Nora well, especially during filming.
After sending it, Katherine discreetly put her phone away.
At that moment——
"No, do it again! Bella, your expression is too stiff, relax a bit." 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Director Lawrence in the classroom shouted through a megaphone. Though it wasn’t exactly scolding, due to the hot weather, his voice carried a slight irritation.
Several people in the corridor noticed and couldn’t help but chat.
"The new actor has a weak camera sense and gets nervous easily. Rosa Sullivan definitely has the look, but her acting... Every time, Director Lawrence has to take time to explain."
"It’s been days, and she still isn’t adapting. With this awful weather, patience is running thin."
"Only Actor Chapman’s scenes are a bit more relaxed. Next up is whoever has a scene with Rosie. No telling how long that’ll take."
"It’s almost noon, and with the weather getting hotter, who knows if we’ll have lunch on time."
...
After several remarks.
Later, somebody noticed Nora and Katherine not far away, immediately stopped talking, exchanged a few quick words, then dispersed.
Nora and Katherine exchanged glances.
"Relax, you can do it."
Holding her milk tea in one hand, raising a fist with the other, Katherine blinked to cheer for Nora.
Nora chuckled softly, "I’ve never felt nervous when filming."
Katherine: "..."
Silently staring at Nora for a few moments, Katherine was momentarily unsure whether to believe or doubt.
*
Rosie Sullivan had to redo the scene twice before Director Lawrence finally waved it off.
Next up was the scene between Nora and Bella Autumn.
Katherine, filled with curiosity, chose a good spot to watch from the side. The moment the director shouted "action," she saw Nora confidently and effortlessly walk into the classroom, instantly exuding a goddess-like classroom aura, causing Katherine to raise an eyebrow.
——Truly not nervous.
Absolutely.
