Overpowered Awakening: I Became Invincible With A Broken Talent-Chapter 139: Deadlight District (30)
Field-type danger-zones usually appeared when a certain group of monsters took a zone as their territory, and unlike rifts and portals that led to other dimensions, field-type danger-zones were usually just the same place as before.
And this one was no different, or rather, there was only a slight difference in essence, which was that the dense fog present outside was not present here, making it very easy to see everything clearly.
Once Marlon stepped inside, even though he had already expected something like this, he was still deeply shocked when the scene before him came into view.
Blood.
A trail of blood began right from the very entrance of the danger-zone and continued inward.
Following the trail of blood, which gradually split into multiple paths, he began to see human body parts scattered around.
Fingers, toes, eyes.
A nauseating feeling welled up inside him the moment he saw them, and it took an immense amount of willpower to stop himself from throwing up on the spot.
He continued following the trail, and soon, bigger body parts began to appear.
Most of them had been cleanly cut, while others looked as though they had been smashed off violently from their owners’ bodies.
Marlon could not even bring himself to stare at some of the body parts for more than two seconds.
And then, he found the heads.
The expressions on each of them were frozen in terror beyond imagination.
Those who were fortunate, or perhaps unfortunate enough to still have their eyes intact, had them wide open, clearly showing the overwhelming dread they had felt before death.
"This..."
Even monsters were not this vile.
They ate humans, yes.
But only an intelligent one would bother to torture humans before killing them, and with this level of cruelty, Marlon could tell that this was no ordinary intelligent monster.
As Marlon continued observing the surroundings, he discovered another trail of blood and followed it, only for what he saw next to make his blood boil violently.
Sitting casually on the rough sand was an Aurax. Judging by its appearance and height, it was much younger than the two index-2 Aurax he had fought before and only slightly older than an index-1.
The careless way it sat on the rough ground further proved how immature it was.
But what it was doing was something that even mature humans, even those who openly claimed to be vile, would not dare to do.
A human woman was resting limply on its lap, and from the sluggish movement of her body, one could clearly tell that she was still hanging on the verge of death.
Her stomach had been torn open, and her breasts had been sliced off, lying on the ground beside her in her own pool of blood.
At that very moment, the Aurax dug its hands into her ruptured stomach and pulled out a body part that Marlon could not even distinguish.
Then, without a single consideration for its surroundings, it casually popped the organ into its mouth and began chewing on it with an ecstatic expression on its face.
It even lifted its head toward the sky as it relished the human flesh. There was not the slightest hint of remorse in its eyes, only pure satisfaction.
It seemed so engrossed in its feast that it momentarily ignored the human who had just stepped into the danger-zone.
Seeing this scene, Marlon, who could swear that he was usually nonchalant, was completely frozen in place.
It was not because he was weak, but because his mind was struggling to process the scene before him.
Then, gradually, his emotions returned in violent waves of boiling anger.
"You bastardic virgin bitch!"
His voice rang out across the area.
Without hesitation, he called out all his clones and sent them charging toward the Aurax at once.
His loud roar immediately alerted the Aurax. It let go of the woman, allowing her body to drop lifelessly onto the ground as it stood up to face Marlon.
There was a brief moment of confusion on its face as it saw the clones rushing toward it from all directions.
However, that confusion vanished in an instant and was replaced by a mocking smirk, a sight that only further infuriated Marlon.
"Venom Rage."
He activated a skill he rarely ever used.
His body transformed rapidly. His skin took on a greenish hue, resembling that of a zombie.
A very thick layer of green aura enveloped his entire body as he charged forward, leaving behind a sharp green blur in his wake.
His clones were the first to reach the Aurax, and they fearlessly unleashed attack after attack without holding back.
The Aurax was rather strong, and it fought back fiercely.
It severely wounded the first set of clones that attacked, and even the second set struggled to land proper hits due to its speed.
But at that moment, Marlon arrived behind it in a blur, the power of the Feather Boots fully in effect.
He grabbed the Aurax by the neck with one hand and, without pausing for even a second, hurled it high into the air toward the magic barrier.
A thunderous bang echoed through the entire region as the Aurax collided violently with the barrier, letting out a short groan of pain.
Unlike humans, who would have been instantly disoriented by such pain, the Aurax struggled to regain its balance almost immediately and prepared itself for another impact.
But it was already too late.
Marlon stomped the ground with immense force, causing the entire area to quake violently and making the Aurax lose its balance before crashing down onto the ground.
Seizing the opportunity he had created, Marlon arrived beside it and planted his foot firmly on its back before grabbing one of its arms with overwhelming strength.
The sound of flesh tearing apart echoed loudly as the Aurax let out a piercing scream.
Marlon did not stop and tore the arm completely off.
The Aurax’s cries of pain sent a strange sense of comfort into his heart, but that comfort was nowhere near enough to quell the raging anger within him.
He grabbed the remaining arm and tossed the monster once again, this time slamming it hard into the ground.
Because the terrain was desert-like and the sand lacked firmness, the Aurax was quickly buried as a massive cloud of dust erupted around it.
Marlon sent one of his clones to dig it out, and the clone did so brutally and without hesitation.
He followed up immediately, tossing the Aurax around like a ragdoll and stomping on it repeatedly to inflict even more pain.
He continued this assault without sparing a single thought for the passage of time.
He was enraged, more than he had ever been before.
And the effects of Venom Rage only amplified that anger further.
As a result, he became completely unstoppable.
It was not as if he needed the extra strength from Venom Rage to defeat this Aurax, since it was far weaker than the bosses he had faced previously.
He used Venom Rage because he needed something to keep his anger burning.
The extra strength was merely a tool to torment the Aurax to the fullest, to ensure that it experienced the maximum amount of pain its body could possibly endure.
At that moment, the entire area was shrouded in dust, and dozens of deep dents littered the ground.
If the magic barrier had not been extremely solid, it would have crumbled long ago under the sheer force of Marlon’s attacks.
Since there was no one else alive inside the danger-zone, he had no reason to hold back.
The Aurax, on the other hand, did not even have time to properly understand its situation.
All it knew was that a green variant of the clones it had been fighting earlier was now playing with its body like a broken toy.
Its cries of pain gradually dulled as its vocal cords became severely damaged from excessive screaming.
Not only that.
Those outside the danger-zone, Sandra and the others, could clearly hear the violent quakes and explosive sounds coming from within.
The intensity was so overwhelming that they were forced to move even farther away just to remain standing.
Although they could not see what was happening inside, they could only pray that the one experiencing such terrifying violence was not Marlon.
But was it Marlon doing all this?
If it truly was his doing, then how was he capable of using such an overwhelming amount of strength?
They had no answers.
Meanwhile, inside the danger-zone, the brutal commotion continued.
Venom Rage could now last for two hours continuously instead of the usual ten minutes.
The strength boost remained at two hundred percent, and the cooldown time had been reduced from twelve hours to just one.
While under the effects of Venom Rage, nearby opponents would experience a twenty percent decrease in attack power, and their focus would also be reduced.
It did not seem like much when he first read the skill description, but seeing how it turned him into a monster against another monster, he could not help but feel a thrill.
He maintained the skill for the full two hours before it finally ended.
His body gradually returned to normal, and the raging anger within him subsided slightly.
But it did not disappear.
He turned his gaze toward the Aurax lying battered on the ground, gasping weakly for breath.
Its pale skin was torn and wounded beyond recognition, and its bones had shattered in multiple places.
Both of its forelimbs were missing entirely.
Staring at the monster with a cold expression, Marlon noticed that it had begun to slowly recover and regenerate.
He scoffed.
Summoning a unit of mirror clones, he sent all of them charging toward the Aurax.
The clones rained down attacks all at once.
This time, the Aurax could not fight back at all.
As it continued to suffer even more damage, its regeneration and recovery finally failed completely.
Yet Marlon still allowed the beating to continue.
The Aurax possessed strong endurance, but that only meant one thing.
It could endure even more pain.
