Overlord: The Multiverse-Chapter 240: Yuki
Chapter 240 - 240: Yuki
Yuki
Yuki sat quietly in the carriage, her gaze fixed on the shifting scenery outside as the vehicle rocked gently along the path toward the Butterfly Mansion. Though she remained silent, her mind was anything but.
She was still trying to process everything that had happened since her life had taken a drastic turn. Once, she had been the Spider-Demon Mother, bound by fear and servitude to Rui, a Lower Moon.
Her existence had been a cycle of torment and survival, living under the oppressive thumb of a family that wasn't truly her own.
But now? Everything had changed.
Yuki glanced briefly at Alex, her new lord, sitting across from her. He seemed impossibly calm, his dark, commanding aura filling the space effortlessly. She didn't understand him, not fully. When he had first appeared, she'd thought him another demon—one perhaps even more powerful than Muzanette herself. But he wasn't. Alex was something totally different.
A vampire, he called himself. Yuki didn't know what that truly meant, but she knew it wasn't the same as being a demon. The moment Alex had turned her into what she was now, she could feel it—her body was no longer held together by Muzanette's cells. It was something else entirely, something stronger, purer, and far more terrifying.
Her memories drifted back to the moment Alex had made her confront Rui. It had felt like a test, like some side quest meant to measure her worth in this new form. She remembered Rui's rage and his disbelief at seeing her free from Muzanette's control. He'd lashed out, calling her a traitor, a failure.
But she had stood her ground. For the first time, she had felt no fear. Her new powers were overwhelming, and she had defeated Rui with ease. The memory still left her stunned. Rui, a lower moon, was crushed by her hands.
If someone had told her this would happen when she was still under Muzanette's control, she would have laughed. A demon like her, defeating Rui? Impossible.
Yet here she was.
Her thoughts shifted to Alex's display of strength. The mock battle with the Hashira had been something out of a nightmare. She had watched as he effortlessly countered their every move, his grace and power leaving them awestruck and helpless.
She'd thought the Hashira were undefeatable, living gods among humans. Yet Alex had proven otherwise, and he hadn't even been trying. She remembered the look of disbelief on Sanemi's face, the calm respect in Giyu's eyes, and the curiosity in Mitsuri's.
Even Shinobu, who was now escorting them, had been left speechless after the battle. It wasn't just his strength—it was the ease with which he wielded it. He hadn't sweated a single drop; he hadn't even seemed out of breath.
How was any of this possible? Yuki couldn't help but wonder. Was it because he was a vampire? She still didn't fully understand what that meant. Alex hadn't explained much, only that she was now free from Muzanette's influence and that she was something entirely new.
She wasn't weak anymore. She wasn't bound by fear. She was... something else. The power coursing through her veins was intoxicating, almost overwhelming. She didn't know its limits yet, but she had a feeling Alex did. And he had plans for her.
Yuki's gaze shifted to the two other women accompanying them. Shalltear and Lupusregina were Alex's companions, both radiating the same overwhelming aura as him. Shalltear was elegant with her crimson eyes sharp, while Lupusregina carried a more playful demeanor, though Yuki could sense the deadly strength hidden beneath her cheerful exterior.
They seemed utterly devoted to Alex. She couldn't help but wonder what kind of bond they shared with him. Was she supposed to be like them now? A loyal servant? Or was there something more?
Her thoughts turned to Kagaya, the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps. She still couldn't believe Alex had managed to negotiate with him. The Demon Slayer Headquarters, once a place dedicated to eradicating demons, now offered them a place to live.
It seemed surreal. Alex had spoken to Kagaya with such confidence, explaining his goals, his intentions, and why he sought refuge. Kagaya had listened, his calm demeanor unwavering, and in the end, he had agreed. Alex's charisma was undeniable, and Yuki couldn't help but feel a strange sense of pride in being connected to him, even if she didn't fully understand why.
The carriage jolted slightly, pulling Yuki back to the present. They were getting closer to the Butterfly Mansion now. Shinobu, walking alongside the carriage, glanced back at them briefly. Her expression was calm, but Yuki could sense her unease.
The idea of hosting nonhumans in the Demon Slayer Corps must have been unsettling, even for someone as composed as her. Yuki didn't blame her. This entire situation was unprecedented.
As the scenery outside shifted to a more serene landscape, Yuki's thoughts began to settle. She still had so many questions and so many uncertainties about her new existence. But one thing was clear—her old life as the Spider-Demon Mother was over.
She was no longer a pawn in Muzanette's schemes, no longer bound by fear and servitude. Alex had given her a new purpose, even if she didn't fully understand it yet.
