Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 200: Because You’re Here
How could Mr. Spencer not see the impatience on Ezra Ford’s face, but he just couldn’t swallow his frustration.
Last time, after using every trick in the book, they got Liam Spencer out of the station.
But who would have thought, in just a few days, he got caught again.
And this time by a policeman from the drug squad named Chen, arrested on the charges of attempting to conduct a drug deal! No matter how much they pleaded, they wouldn’t let them see their son!
Mr. Spencer inquired around and finally learned about Liam’s illegal kidnapping of Scarlett Shaw.
The charges against Liam were solid this time, there was no saving him.
Upon understanding the entire situation, Old Master Spencer was furious, immediately removing all of Mr. Spencer’s positions in the Spencer Family company, showing a clear stance of righteousness and distancing himself.
Mr. Spencer was so angry he could feel a lump of blood stuck in his chest!
The situation was already set in stone, and all he could do was lie flat and give up!
However, quite coincidentally, the investigation on Scarlett Shaw, which had shown no progress before, suddenly had a lead.
If he didn’t take this opportunity to vent the anger lodged in his chest, wouldn’t he suffocate himself to death?!
"Director Ford, my visit today is not to ask for anything, but to share some news about your Julian’s girlfriend," Mr. Spencer said meaningfully.
Ezra Ford’s expression paused, but he didn’t speak.
A person in a high position rarely expresses their stance outright. Ezra Ford’s ambiguous attitude was clear to Mr. Spencer, who was quite cunning himself.
Ezra hadn’t spoken, so whatever mess these words might cause today would be solely the responsibility of Mr. Spencer, from the Spencer family—not related to Ezra Ford at all.
Mr. Spencer couldn’t help but smirk internally while cursing the shrewd old fox, but outwardly, he maintained a composed demeanor and said:
"Scarlett Shaw’s father, called Benjamin Shaw, does that name ring a bell?"
...
The heavy rain condensed into a mist in the air, obscuring the view.
Julian Ford occasionally glanced at the floor, then checked his watch.
It was late afternoon, but with the sunset hidden behind the dark clouds, the splendid and romantic sunset was no more. The sky was gloomy, the torrential rain suffocating.
Anxiety arose unbidden.
Julian stood up, heading to the ward door while scrolling through his phone to dial Scarlett’s number.
Just as he reached the door, it opened from the outside.
Rainwater dripped from the umbrella in Scarlett’s hand, strands of her hair clung to her clean, fair face, wet from the rain. Compared to the dreary weather outside, her eyes looked at him with clarity and a bright smile.
"Meeting with a client took longer today,"
Scarlett proactively explained her delayed arrival.
She naturally and cheerfully took her boyfriend’s hand, leaned on tiptoe to peck his chin, and said, "I’m so thirsty, I want some water."
The layout of Julian Ford’s premium ward was not much different from a hotel suite, spacious, with a separate living and bathing area, fully equipped for comfortable living.
He handed Scarlett a cup of hot water and found a dry towel to personally dry her wet hair.
Scarlett sat obediently in the single-seater sofa, slowly sipping the hot water.
When Julian stopped moving, she placed the cup down casually and hugged her boyfriend.
"I miss you."
She murmured against his chest.
Julian frowned; Scarlett wasn’t usually the sentimental type. He pulled her away, looked into her eyes, and asked, "What happened?"
There was no hint of doubt.
He didn’t give her a chance to lie.
Scarlett sighed and pointed at her knee.
When she’d arrived, she hadn’t wanted him to worry, deliberately using her bag and umbrella to cover her legs, but being enveloped by his refreshing aura made her crave tenderness.
"I was in such a hurry delivering the contract to a client that I accidentally fell."
The bloodstains on Scarlett’s knee had been treated in the outpatient earlier. The wound wasn’t particularly deep, but the surrounding bruises were severe.
Walking was quite painful.
One tends to be strong when alone, but with someone to rely on, they want to act spoiled and soft.
Julian lowered his eyes to look, crouched down, his long fingers brushing the skin around the wound, frowning, "How could you be so careless?"
Scarlett quietly explained, "Time was a bit tight."
As she finished speaking, she suddenly grabbed his hand to inspect closely, shifting her tone, "That time I pinched your hand in the car door, it must have hurt too, right?"
"I forgot."
Julian said indifferently.
He looked up, capturing the flicker of guilt in her eyes, interlocking his fingers tightly with hers and said, "More infuriating than the hand injury was the fact that you ran off recklessly in Jasper Spencer’s car trying to ditch me."
Scarlett rubbed her nose, "Back then, you clearly rejected me first."
"That won’t happen again."
Julian said.
His casual tone always carried a reassuring force.
Scarlett blinked, and as Julian stood, ignoring the pain in her knee, she jumped into his arms, holding him tightly.
In the moment he caught her steadily, Scarlett’s heart quivered, and she unconsciously bit her lip.
At some point, no matter what her emotions were, he could always patiently and softly catch her.
He still seemed detached, indifferent to everything.
But his heart was full of her.
"Julian Ford."
"Hm?"
"You must take care of your health, no more accidents."
Clinging to him, arms around his neck, Scarlett said earnestly with a hint of a warning.
Julian lifted his gaze, contemplating her, "As long as you’re here, nothing will happen."
Rain poured down, hitting the window panes with a crackling sound, streams of water cascading down the glass rapidly.
"I will."
Scarlett lowered her head, kissing him passionately.
When Julian was hospitalized, Scarlett stayed in the ward with him.
In the middle of the night, several muffled rolls of thunder were followed by lightning, as if the sky split open to pour down rain.
Julian was a light sleeper, and recently, his headaches had worsened, so he immediately checked on Scarlett when he woke.
She was quite terrified of thunderstorms.
Unexpectedly, Scarlett lay quietly nestled in his embrace, sound asleep, showing no signs of waking from the thunder.
On the contrary, when he shifted slightly, she seemed to sense something in her sleep, randomly grabbing his hand and pressing it tightly against her chest.
As if afraid of losing him.
The next morning, as Scarlett was preparing to head to work, Julian mentioned the previous night’s thunder, "You’re not afraid of thunderstorms anymore?"
Scarlett paused.
She’d been scared of thunderstorms since a long time ago, during the time she contemplated dying, stuck in a forest during a thunderstorm, it left a shadow.
But after meeting Julian, it seemed unwittingly, she became immune to thunderstorm days.
It was as if suddenly, there was nothing to fear.
"Not anymore." Her eyes flickered slightly, she looked at him, smiling openly and honestly said, "Because you’re here."
