Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 334 - 321: Lumeria Trip (Part 1)
"Pig, wake up, we’re in Lumeria."
Sienna Thornton was dreaming about a quarrel with Sylvia Langley over some meat, and just when she was about to win after a few rounds, someone suddenly shook her body hard, and it was all over.
She frowned and slowly opened her eyes.
On either side of the aisle, curtains were tightly drawn, and the dim light from the small lamp on the partition fell where Simon Forrester was gently wiping drool from her mouth with a tissue.
She was stunned for a few seconds, and her mind returned, realizing she was on a flight to Lumeria. She lazily threw off the blanket and sat up, her voice rough with sleep, "How long was I asleep?"
Simon Forrester threw the tissue into a trash bag, "About six or seven hours."
Sienna Thornton rubbed her still hazy head, frowning, looking like she didn’t get enough sleep, and muttered, "I have a bit of a headache from sleeping."
Simon Forrester, already wearing his coat and carrying the bag, picked up the knitted hat she had tossed on the table and leaned over to help her put it on, "You’ll feel better after walking a bit. Here, wear your hat; it’s cold outside."
"Oh, okay."
Once Sienna Thornton had put on her down jacket and slung her bag over her shoulder, Simon Forrester finally opened the curtain, revealing that there weren’t many people left in the aisle.
Sienna Thornton stood up and stretched, while Simon Forrester came over to hold her hand, and the two of them headed towards the cabin door together.
From a distance, they saw a few flight attendants and two men dressed as pilots at the cabin door, wishing the departing passengers "Bon Voyage" in alternating Chinese and French.
As they got closer, Sienna Thornton noticed one of the pilots was a woman, one she’d seen on a magazine page as Captain Thornton. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
She had a chic short haircut, one side buzzed, the other left with longer bangs, and wore a tailored white shirt and black slacks, looking quite slim, fair, and cool.
As they passed by, she extended her hand to Simon Forrester, her lips curling into a subtle smile, "Mr. Forrester, coming to Lumeria for some fun?"
Simon Forrester extended his hand to shake hers, wrapping an arm around Sienna Thornton’s shoulders with the other, "Bringing my fiancée over to get her wedding dress sorted, and also visiting my mom."
"When’s the wedding?"
"After the New Year."
She said "Congratulations", glancing over at Sienna Thornton with a kind smile.
They gave each other a friendly hug, and Sienna Thornton smiled, "Captain Thornton, great to meet you. I’m Sienna Thornton."
"Same here," Mavis Thornton replied, "Just call me Mavis."
They exchanged a quick cheek-to-cheek greeting.
.
After getting off the plane, Sienna Thornton remarked, "Mavis is so handsome! She looks like the old Samantha Zane! Really in charge!"
Simon Forrester recalled Mavis’s image, "She does look quite a bit like her."
They walked along to get their luggage, chatting aimlessly.
Sienna Thornton said, "I think her hairstyle is nice, really handsome. I want to get a haircut like that when we get back."
Simon Forrester chuckled, "Your features and vibe are different from hers. Don’t end up turning into a failed imitation."
"Are you calling me an imitation?" Sienna Thornton huffed, playfully chasing him around.
After some playful banter and getting their luggage, Sienna Thornton had already forgotten about cutting her hair short.
Sylvia Langley was waiting at the exit with a driver, and when she saw them, she eagerly came forward. Upon seeing Sienna Thornton, she immediately hugged her warmly, cheek to cheek, "Thornton, have you been to Lumeria before?"
Sienna Thornton replied politely, "No, I’ve only been to Valois in Europe, and that was for a business trip."
Thinking of her work, Sylvia Langley nodded in understanding, linking arms with her as they left the airport, chatting, "I know you’re busy. You finally have some time to enjoy, so make sure to have fun and relax, don’t think about work..."
Simon Forrester followed behind with the driver, pushing their luggage, "We have our plans, no need to worry. We’ll take care of our business tomorrow and the next day, then we’re heading to the South of France."
Sylvia Langley glanced back at him with mock annoyance, "You little rascal, can’t you spend a few extra days with me since you’re here?"
"We’re here for business, not to keep you company in your twilight years."
Sylvia Langley hated being called old, and hearing Simon Forrester call it her twilight years irritated her, making her want to bicker with him.
Seeing the mother and son about to quarrel, Sienna Thornton tried to mediate, pulling Simon Forrester away, stopping them from arguing.
She had worried about future mother-in-law problems, but it seemed like just being a peacemaker between mother and son would keep her busy enough, leaving no time for any mother-in-law issues.
.
Sylvia Langley’s villa in the satellite city of Lumeria was a two-story standalone villa with a large area. Upon entering the courtyard, you would see a well-manicured lawn; tall and short green plants and a large rose garden grew outside the villa, with loungers and a swing by the pool.
Three people who appeared to be Chinese servants waited by the front door, bowing as they entered, "Welcome, young master, to Lumeria."
They spoke fluent Mandarin.
Simon Forrester smiled and nodded at them, "Thank you."
Sylvia Langley linked arms with Sienna Thornton, introducing, "This is my daughter-in-law. Take good care of her."
The servants then bowed again to Sienna Thornton, "Welcome, young mistress, to Lumeria."
In the 21st century, Sienna Thornton was not used to such formal greetings and instinctively bowed in return.
Sylvia Langley ushered them into the living room with a smile, while the servants took their suitcases up.
Sienna Thornton sat down on the couch in the living room, with Simon Forrester joining her.
Sylvia Langley stood by the coffee table, casually saying, "We’ll have dinner at home tonight. Tomorrow morning, come with me to the office; I’ve made an appointment with the dress designer to settle the dress first, then we’ll sort out the jewelry the next day. You can have fun the day after that."
Sienna Thornton said nothing, just glanced at Simon Forrester, who replied, "We’ll handle the jewelry ourselves, no need to trouble you with that."
"Alright!" Sylvia Langley was agreeable, "Just give me the bill after you buy it."
"Sure!" Simon Forrester didn’t stand on ceremony with her.
With just a few words, everything was settled, and Sylvia Langley went to her room to change, leaving Sienna Thornton and Simon Forrester to themselves.
Simon Forrester then asked Sienna Thornton, "Are you hungry or do you need the bathroom?"
Sienna Thornton answered, "No," and put down her backpack.
Simon Forrester found a comfortable position on the sofa, turning on the TV with the remote control.
The servant brought over some exquisite floral tea and snacks.
Sienna Thornton sipped her tea, examining the villa that wasn’t very new or luxurious.
Like all French villas, the living room had a fireplace, the walls adorned with abstract paintings, and photos, and various exquisite wooden cabinets held beautiful vases filled with vibrant red roses...
She had expected Sylvia Langley, with her flamboyant personality, to have an ostentatious villa, but it was surprisingly laid-back.
As Sienna Thornton was taking in her surroundings, Simon Forrester, who was originally watching TV, suddenly put the remote down and leaned over to hug her, taking a deep breath at her neck, saying, "Let’s go upstairs for a shower and some rest before dinner."
