Chapter 315: Chapter 303: First Update

At night, Simon Forrester fell back into a hazy sleep, while Sienna Thornton, who was worried about needing to give him water on time, remained alert.

She curled up beside Simon, her hand resting on the blanket, feeling as though she was holding him.

All she could think about was that when Simon returned to Brimfield, before he could get out of bed and walk, she would need to take leave to care for him at home.

For almost a month, it was easy to negotiate with the law firm, but she didn’t know how to explain it to the Forrester Group. Mainly, Simon didn’t want the Forrester Family to know he was injured.

But soon, Sienna came up with a solution—she could tell Nolan Kramer that she was ill, something contagious like chickenpox, requiring home quarantine.

Having thought through the excuse for leave, Sienna also planned some daily care details. When she saw it was 2:30, she quickly got out of bed to pour water.

This patient room was a private one, with a water dispenser in the living room. She filled a cup with some warm water, inserted a straw, brought it to the bedside, gently shook Simon’s arm, and whispered, "Baby, have some water."

Simon might have been in light sleep, as he woke up quickly, saw her, and his eyes and lips curled into a smile, "What time is it?"

"It’s 2:30," Sienna replied, "You can drink water now. Hurry and drink some, or your body will get dehydrated."

With that, she held the cup to his cheek and guided the straw to his mouth for him to sip.

Soon enough, Simon finished nearly 200 milliliters of warm water.

Seeing him drink eagerly, Sienna comforted him with a smile, "You can’t drink too much at once, just pace yourself—I’ll wake you up for more at 4:30."

At the time, she was slightly hunched over, leaning on the bedside, with her long hair parted in the middle and tucked behind her ears, draping over her chest. She was wearing a pink cotton pajama set. The dim, warm lighting in the hospital room cast a gentle glow on her face, making her look serene.

Her voice was soft too, and when speaking to Simon, it felt like a small feather tickling his heart, making it soft and tender...

Sienna got up to wash the cup in the bathroom, and afterwards, nestled back beside Simon.

She buried her face in his neck, lightly patting the blanket, and whispered, "You sleep, I’ll wake you when it’s time."

He reached out to touch her cheek, turned his face, and kissed her brow in the dark, "You sleep too, sleep well. You don’t need to wake up at 4:30 just to give me water, we can wait until morning."

"No, you haven’t had water in a long time, if you don’t replenish soon, you might get a urinary tract infection..."

Unable to argue with her, Simon didn’t say much more, just feeling very touched.

And so, Sienna insisted on getting up every two hours to give Simon water, continuing until a little after 8 AM when the doctor was going to make rounds, after she gave Simon the last round of water, she didn’t sleep again.

The climate in The Northeast is similar to Brimfield, but slightly cooler in temperature. Although the air conditioning wasn’t on in the room, Sienna still occasionally felt Simon’s hands and forehead, worried he might catch a cold or fever.

Around 9 o’clock, Harrison Rowe and Jack Hawthorne came by with breakfast packed from outside.

Sienna gave Simon some porridge before she went over to the sofa to quickly have a bit of breakfast herself.

Simon was discussing the cause of this incident with Harrison and Jack, and Sienna listened while eating. When Jack mentioned that the main cause of the incident was the improper setup of the scaffolding by the construction team, she paused, and walked over from the living room area.

When she approached, Jack stopped talking.

Simon noticed her approach out of the corner of his eye, extended his arm, pulled the plastic chair next to the hospital bed, and gestured for her to sit. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

After she sat down, seeing that Jack didn’t continue the topic, she softly asked Simon, "Can I listen in?"

Lying on the hospital bed, Simon turned his face to look at her, extending his hand, and she naturally took it.

"Of course you can, I intend to hold them accountable," Simon said, then turned to look at Jack, "It’s a good thing I’m still alive, if I had died from this, it would be a big deal for you."

When he said this, Sienna, holding his hand, suddenly tightened her grip, and her expression shifted. Sensing it, he quickly turned his head to her and soothed her, gently stroking the back of her hand with his thumb.

Jack looked guilty, nodding repeatedly, glanced at Sienna, and cautiously said, "Maybe we should discuss it later?"

He wasn’t necessarily worried about Sienna listening, but he didn’t like having women chiming in when men were discussing work. Sienna had listened quietly on the sofa before, but now she seemed like she wanted to get involved.

He thought female lawyers were quite troublesome, and given that Sienna was Simon’s girlfriend, and she had cried buckets for Simon’s injury yesterday, wouldn’t she want to retaliate against the project party now? He wasn’t worried about losing money, but concerned about the matter going to court and affecting the project.

With that in mind, he boldly said, "What’s the point of a woman meddling in work affairs?"

He thought that saying so would make Simon feel embarrassed and send Sienna away, but Simon just looked at him expressionlessly, "Everything we do, we decide together, including this, whether to sue you guys, is up to her."

This statement made it clear that Sienna would indeed be involved in this matter.

Jack wasn’t too pleased, but given that Simon had indeed suffered a lot, he couldn’t argue, begrudgingly glancing at Sienna, saying, "This accident is indeed the project party’s fault, let’s settle it privately, no need to take it to court."

This was addressed to both Simon and Sienna.

After hearing this, Sienna looked down at Simon, "Do you agree?"

"We’ll discuss it thoroughly later."

Simon said, turning to Jack, "I’m fine now, you can go. We’ll let you know after Candy and I have decided."

Jack, forced to laugh, wanted to make one last attempt. Knowing Simon was considerate, he didn’t plead with him but instead tried to appease Sienna, "Sister, we’re all friends here, let’s not take it to court. You’re quite busy too, right?"

Sienna politely replied, "Yes. Don’t worry, Mr. Hawthorne, I know you and Baby have known each other for a long time, I’ll take that into consideration."

She didn’t even realize she had called Simon "Baby" in front of Harrison and Jack, but those two grown men, suddenly stuffed with such public display of affection, shuddered and looked at each other speechlessly, then took the excuse of smoking to slip out.

After the door closed, Sienna got up to tuck Simon’s blanket, smiled, and said, "Once we’re back, I’ll arrange for an evaluation for you. Regardless of whether we decide to pursue Hawthorne ’s responsibility later, we’ll at least have the ’injury assessment’ ready and on file."

Simon nodded and, holding her hand, looked toward the chair she had just been sitting in, "Sit and chat with me."
