Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 309 - 298: Roles
Simon Forrester turned over again and held the sulky, puffy-faced pufferfish in his arms: "If my private territory were really that inviolable, would I have let you and the nurse move in?"
Pufferfish: "Who knows what crazy nerves of yours suddenly struck."
Simon Forrester: "I finally understand why you’ve been single for twenty-seven years since birth."
Pufferfish huffed: "Same to you. Speaking of lifelong singles, you’re a five-year head start. You’re the senior here!"
Simon Forrester: "So are we the leftover man and woman that no one wants, digesting each other internally?"
"You’re the leftover man; I’m not the leftover woman! Plenty of people are after me..."
"Oh, really? Lined up from the start to the end of Regent Street, right?"
"Now you know!"
"My design studio is on Regent Street! You have good taste; you didn’t go for those guys lining up but picked me, the guy watching from the upstairs window."
"..."
.
A few days later, Sylvia Langley called Sienna Thornton to inform her that they could pause the divorce proceedings and observe Zane Forrester’s behavior for a while before deciding whether to proceed.
Sienna Thornton laughed and explained to her that if they pause the divorce, the lawyer’s hourly fees would still need to be paid in full.
Sylvia Langley cheerfully and generously said, "I know, just give Jules the bill when the time comes!"
Sienna Thornton rolled her eyes on the other end of the phone, respectfully saying, "Okay, Auntie, I understand."
Sylvia Langley’s voice sounded quite happy. Sienna Thornton wanted to gauge her emotions and convey them to Simon Forrester, but even after listening for a while, she couldn’t figure it out. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Sylvia Langley was a woman who was amused by everything except her son’s women and her sister-in-law Bianca Fordham’s family.
Even the night Zane Forrester hit her, she was in the mood to ask Sienna Thornton for face masks.
"Thornton, do you know how I’m messing with that lousy man?" Sylvia Langley suddenly asked on the phone.
Sienna Thornton came back to her senses: "Hm? Auntie, tell me."
Sylvia Langley laughed wickedly: "My dad made him kneel at my family’s ancestral hall, in front of all my Langley ancestors and relatives, and told my ancestors that if he hit me again, he’d leave with nothing!"
Sienna Thornton: "... Auntie, promises made before ancestors aren’t legally binding."
Sylvia Langley: "He wrote a guarantee letter!"
Sienna Thornton found it amusing: "A privately signed guarantee letter has no legal force. How about this, send me a photo of the letter, and I’ll draft a new one for you. When you’re okay, and Mr. Forrester’s okay, we can sign and notarize it when you return to Brimfield."
After a while, Sylvia Langley indeed sent the handwritten guarantee letter from Zane Forrester.
Sienna Thornton looked at the content and wasn’t sure if Zane Forrester was really clueless or trying to trick Sylvia Langley. Such a loosely worded, error-filled guarantee was just a scrap of paper.
A guarantee to leave with nothing?
Huh, men...
Sienna Thornton had Rochelle Linwood prepare the agreement, and soon she sent it to Sylvia Langley. It was unknown how Sylvia talked with Zane, but Sienna received a call from Zane Forrester later that evening.
Zane Forrester started right away: "Thornton, stop giving Jules’ mom ideas. Our divorce doesn’t benefit you!"
Sienna Thornton pretended to be innocent: "Mr. Forrester, I’m now your wife’s lawyer, and I have to fulfill her legal requests."
On the other end, Zane Forrester stayed silent for a while, then suddenly lowered his voice and said, "If you don’t get involved, I’ll agree for you and Jules to be together!"
Sienna Thornton was speechless for a moment, rolling her eyes multiple times, but eventually, she smiled apologetically: "Sorry, Mr. Forrester, I need to adhere to my professional ethics as a lawyer."
Zane Forrester angrily hung up the phone.
Sienna Thornton also hung up, heaving a long sigh, dropping the pen in her hand. She kicked off her high heels under the desk, crossing her long legs on the cabinet beside her, her entire body sinking into the wide leather chair, staring blankly into space.
Why does the Forrester Family have so many issues?
First, there was the Forrester Group’s high-level corruption case, then Zane Forrester’s marital discord. And these two major events happened to land on her desk.
Will there be more unexpected troubles needing her to handle in the future?
It’s not that she can’t handle them; it’s just that doing these things is thankless.
The corruption case offended Bianca Fordham, and the divorce of Zane Forrester and his wife offended Zane himself.
If she really marries Simon Forrester in the future, it seems her days with the Forrester Family won’t be easy.
