Chapter 255: Chapter 252: Entwined for a Lifetime

As Simon Forrester said this, Sienna Thornton immediately understood: "Ah? The baby isn’t asleep yet? Let’s hurry home then."

After speaking, she turned to the two young male lawyers and apologized: "I’m sorry, I won’t be joining today. You go and have fun."

The two male lawyers were a bit surprised to find out Sienna Thornton had a kid at such a young age, even though it seemed a bit far-fetched. But since her boyfriend had been sitting there all night, they couldn’t insist further and let her leave.

On the way back, Sienna Thornton was still diligently studying the script.

Suddenly, Simon Forrester, who was driving, asked out of the blue: "Why did you say your cat was your daughter before?"

"What?"

"A few years ago, when we first met, you came to Cognitas to negotiate a settlement for a crazy client."

"A few years ago?" Sienna Thornton put down her pen, propped her chin, and thought for a moment. Her tone suddenly rose, "Wasn’t it that case where you were falsely accused of sexual assault?"

Simon Forrester’s face turned cold: "... Yes."

Recalling that incident, Sienna Thornton couldn’t help but laugh out loud: "How did you end up entangled with someone like that?"

The client was in her forties, short and fat, with a face that resembled the surface of the moon, fluffy short curls, and squinty eyes.

Before taking that case, Sienna Thornton had already met Simon Forrester once and knew he was the handsome and wealthy heir of the Forrester Family. When she met the client, she was shocked; it was unbelievable yet irrefutable given the "handwritten" agreement for a hefty compensation she held.

It was also because of that case that she had the chance to interact further with Simon Forrester. Thinking back, she actually had to thank that client; she was somewhat the "matchmaker" for her and Simon, even though her methods were indeed peculiar.

"Entangled?" Simon Forrester looked speechless, "I have no idea how she got involved with me; I don’t even know this person."

Sienna Thornton couldn’t help but laugh: "That woman wasn’t that dim-witted; she straight-up said she just wanted to see you but didn’t have the opportunity. She didn’t know where to find you but thought us lawyers surely had a way. So, she fabricated the agreement to get us to contact you, thinking you’d definitely come to meet her given the situation."

"... I knew she was up to no good, so I refused to meet with her and wanted to sue her!" Speaking of that long-past event, Simon Forrester still gritted his teeth in anger. But after stewing in anger for a bit, his expression softened, "But she did a good deed, bringing us together."

Sienna Thornton laughed: "I think so too."

.

Seeing her lower her head to review her script again, Simon Forrester pressed further: "I still haven’t gotten an answer to my earlier question."

"What?"

"Why did you lie about having a daughter before?"

Sienna Thornton was absorbed in her script, thinking about how to present the legal articles more plainly. She replied casually: "To us pet owners, cute kittens are like our children. I didn’t mean to deceive you; it was just something I said without thinking." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Seeing Simon Forrester’s stern expression and long silence, she finished a page of revisions and looked up at him: "Why are you still holding onto that matter?"

"Because I just realized claiming to have a kid is typically used to fend off persistent men. I was wondering, at that time, I wasn’t being pushy, so why did you lie about having a daughter?"

"..." Sienna Thornton quickly understood, laughed out loud, and began to comfort the self-doubting Simon Forrester, "No, no, I really wasn’t thinking much at that time; it was just a careless remark, nowhere near the level of being pushy. If anyone was being pushy, it was me pestering you."

"That’s more like it. You should stick around more closely in the future."

"Okay."

Sienna Thornton shook her head with a smile, knowing full well Simon Forrester was just jealous from seeing the other male lawyers invite her out. Yet, she was happy to play along with him.

If a bit of response could make him happy, why would she be stingy with her cooperation?

With that thought, she leaned over, gave Simon Forrester a peck on the cheek, and said softly, "I’ll stick around for a lifetime."

With that kiss and those words, Simon Forrester’s grip on the steering wheel shook, nearly making the car swerve. He swallowed and said softly, "We’re almost home; let me see how you stick around..."

The next day was Saturday, and Sienna Thornton got up early. By the time she got up, Simon Forrester was still asleep.

Last night he insisted she stick with him, keeping her up half the night, and now he was sleeping soundly.

Sienna Thornton patted her aching head, didn’t wash up yet, and went to stew the soaked bird’s nest with milk in the pot.

After washing up, she went out onto the balcony to bask in the sun and breathe in the fresh air. But instead of subsiding, her headache worsened, leaving her a bit irritable.

Knowing she had a twelve-hour recording session ahead, she realized a headache could affect her performance, so she quickly took a painkiller. Within half an hour, the headache was gone.

When she left the house, Simon Forrester was still asleep. She didn’t wake him, left a note on the fridge, and left.

Ingrid came to pick her up, saying she’d accompany her through the recording and head to Cordova to be with Maeve the next afternoon.

The recording was to start at ten, and when Sienna Thornton and Ingrid arrived at the studio at half-past nine, the other lawyers were already there, standing in secluded corners rehearsing their scripts, each looking quite tense.

Seeing this, Ingrid asked: "Have you memorized your script?"

Sienna Thornton smiled: "Pretty much; I’ve memorized the relevant legal articles, and I’ll just improvise the rest."

Seeing her relaxed demeanor, Ingrid smiled, patting her shoulder: "Go get ’em! After this show airs, you’ll definitely become famous, trust me!"

Sienna Thornton didn’t plan on gaining fame from this show. What she valued was the show’s recognition of her as a partner at Cognitas Law, and the opportunity for each lawyer to have a solo interview, brief as it was. She intended to mention key information about finding her father during those few minutes.

This was her last effort in searching for her biological father. If the broadcast didn’t lead to him, she’d have to give up.

At ten, the show began its first rehearsal.

The set was designed to resemble a small civil courtroom, with the judge, assessors, and host sitting at the center table, the defendants and their three counsels on the left, and the plaintiff and their counsel on the right. The back held several rows of seated audience members.

With the director’s cue of "action," the program officially started recording.

The camera first focused on the host, who introduced the six lawyers present, then panned to each lawyer.
