Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 225 - 223: The Forrester Family Granddaughter-in-Law’s Honor
Simon Forrester hesitated for a moment before responding. As he put away his phone, his brain rapidly processed the best wording to convey to Sienna Thornton.
He swallowed and carefully said, "The first round of screening wasn’t ideal, I suspect the age might be off, so I asked them to screen again."
Sienna Thornton nodded, holding his arm, and whispered softly, "If the second round doesn’t work, then let it go and think of other ways."
In fact, she had looked into it under similar conditions three years ago, but also found no clues, so she wasn’t particularly surprised by Simon’s words.
Over the years, in her search for her father, she had long shifted from her initial blind confidence and filled with hope to now daring to hold only a slight possibility. So much so that she often cruelly hinted to herself that she might never find him. Yet, the small hope in her heart was so real.
"Has Auntie returned from Wrayhaven?" Simon suddenly asked.
Sienna came back to reality: "She returned a few days ago."
"When the second screening results are out, I’d like to show the profiles to her for identification, what do you think?"
Sienna thought for a moment and nodded, "Okay."
Only then did Simon breathe a sigh of relief, raised his hand to rub the back of her neck, and led her toward the villa, where they met a black Bentley Mulsanne driving up.
The Mulsanne stopped beside them, and the rear window rolled down, revealing Old Master Forrester in a woolen Zhongshan suit, smiling as he said, "You two, wait for me." Saying this, he rolled the window back up and opened the door to get out.
Sienna quickly stepped forward to assist the old man, "Good morning, Grandpa, be careful."
Old Master Forrester got out of the car, bright and spirited, looked up and down at Simon, and chuckled, "You’re looking quite dashing today!"
In his younger days, Old Master Forrester wasn’t tall, and with age, he had shrunk significantly in height and had a slight hunchback, so standing next to Simon, he couldn’t even reach his shoulder, which meant every time he looked at Simon, he had to tilt his head upward.
Simon chuckled inwardly, adjusted his English-style three-piece handmade suit, and narcissistically said, "I dress handsomely every day, okay? Grandpa, are you buttering me up today for something?"
Old Master Forrester originally just wanted to praise his grandson, but hearing this, he was so annoyed he shouted, "Get lost."
"Get lost then," Simon said, taking long strides forward, and in a blink, he had already entered the villa.
Sienna, half amused, half exasperated, supported Old Master Forrester, explaining for Simon, "He’s in a rush to help entertain guests, Grandpa, don’t mind him, I’ll go in with you."
Old Master Forrester patted her hand approvingly, "You’re still the most well-behaved."
-
Just after Old Master Forrester entered the law firm, his friends started arriving, and soon the villa courtyard was filled with luxury cars, with some arriving later having no choice but to park outside.
Old Master Forrester introduced Sienna to each of his friends, with a proud proclamation: "This is my granddaughter-in-law! Just back from the United States! A Harvard Law Ph.D.! A partner at this law firm! Exceptionally talented! If you need legal services, she’s the one to see!"
He quickly instructed Sienna to hand out business cards.
Seeing such a beautiful young woman with outstanding aura and as a top-notch lawyer, the old men praised Old Master Forrester for his good fortune as they accepted the cards.
Sienna, in turn, collected a stack of business cards, each from someone so distinguished that she dared not even dream of securing their legal consultation services.
Five minutes before ten, someone from the PR company asked who would be giving the speech later. Sienna suggested Rhonda Wagner, but Old Master Forrester reminded her that the biggest highlight of the firm was her—Simon’s wife of the Forrester family, and that her delivering the speech would serve as the best advertisement for the firm.
Sienna thought it over, agreed it made sense, and temporarily settled Old Master Forrester and his friends in the lounge on the first floor, instructing the PR company to have two people standing by to serve tea and respond to the old men’s needs at any time.
After making the arrangements, she prepared to go on stage to speak.
As she walked through the crowd toward the hall, Simon happened to find her and, seeing her, took her hand, "The people from the bar association and the judicial bureau are here."
Sienna was taken aback, "We didn’t invite them."
Simon whispered, "Thomas brought them here, to boost the firm’s profile, no harm in it."
Sienna nodded, straightened her back, put on an appropriate smile, and followed Simon to meet the people from the bar association and the judicial bureau.
After Thomas toured those guests around the firm’s office environment, they were now sitting in the large conference room on the first floor. Sienna knocked on the door, went in, shook hands with them one by one, and greeted them with a natural, composed demeanor.
Thomas introduced her as his protégé, having performed excellently at Vantage, and they all graciously commended Sienna as young and promising.
At ten o’clock sharp, the unveiling ceremony officially began.
The stage for the ceremony was set up in the entrance hall, with a large LCD screen in the background displaying the firm’s name, logo, and the theme of the ceremony.
When the red cloth covering the firm’s sign was lifted, the room filled with enthusiastic applause. Sienna, Rhonda, and Aurora firmly shook each other’s hands, each pair of eyes shining with expectations for the thriving future of the firm’s business.
Sienna stepped forward to give a speech, smiling and poised, briefly introducing the firm’s service areas and the specialties of the three partners in their respective fields.
There was not a single wasted word, no grandiose pledges, no clichéd slogans; the entire speech was brief, clear, and powerful, getting straight to the point.
Finally, she thanked all the guests attending the ceremony today.
Speech over.
Sienna and the other two partners stepped down from the stage.
Simon met her, gently holding her by the waist as they walked aside, quietly laughing, "Speaking in front of so many people, you weren’t nervous at all, and I bet you just winged that speech, didn’t you?"
Sienna laughed as well, "Even if I wrote it beforehand, I’d still keep it simple and clear. Why waste time with so many words? Everyone’s busy, no need to delay them."
As people continued to pass by, greeting Sienna, she nudged Simon, quietly, "I need to entertain the guests, you go check on Grandpa."
With that, the two split up and went their separate ways in the bustle.
The main guests today came from three groups: Old Master Forrester’s wealthy circle, the bar association and judicial bureau folks brought by Thomas, and the prosecutors brought by Rhonda’s father.
Sienna hadn’t anticipated this many big names attending today, so she instructed the PR company to set the unveiling ceremony at the firm, though in hindsight it should have been at a hotel, where they could dine right after the ceremony.
Now, the not-so-large villa was packed with people, and she deftly navigated through the crowd, attending to the other two groups upstairs.
