Otherworldly Affairs Office-Chapter 867: First Encounter with the Demon God
Hearing the discontent in Old Samikina's words, Pei Yan, as the initiator of this incident, also felt that this farce had gone too far. Marisello had already been hacked into a bloody pulp, yet he was still madly running around full of life, while Jessica, exhausted, was barely keeping up with her sword in hand and breathing heavily.
The disparity in strength and physical endurance was too great. If Jessica continues at this rate, she might collapse from exhaustion before Marisello does, or he could escape the Holy Hall alive, which would not look good. Thinking of this, Pei Yan had no choice but to intervene personally. With a snap of his fingers, two threads of Source Qi shot out from the void, piercing through Marisello's throat and heart.
Having his two vital points hit, Marisello couldn't even let out a scream before he fell headfirst to the ground, clutching his gushing wounds, his body shivering uncontrollably. At this moment, Jessica caught up again, swinging her longsword in a frenzy at her now defenseless enemy.
"Enough!" Pei Yan said, standing from his seat to stop Jessica, who was already in a frenzy, then he glanced around the hall and said coldly, "Marisello defied the order of the Demon God. His family will be stripped of their noble status, and the one who introduced Jessica to the Marishello Clan will face the same punishment. Does anyone have any objections to this decision!"
All the demons present looked at each other but no one spoke up in opposition. Only one person's body went limp, and he knelt to the floor upon hearing the decision. After a moment, showing some wit, he crawled out of the crowd, and on his knees, he pleaded in front of Pei Yan: "Prince, in a moment of folly, I offended your might. This is a sin borne from my improper mind. I am willing to atone with my life, just spare my family!"
After saying this, he didn't give Pei Yan a chance to refuse, pulling out a dagger, he let down his defenses and pierced his heart. Twisting his wrist, his Source Qi backflowed into the heart, causing it to explode. A stream of blood spurted out as he collapsed onto the ground with a thud.
"As you wish, your family will be spared!" Pei Yan glanced at the unidentified corpse now at his feet, pulling out a handkerchief to wipe the blood splattered on his cheek. This person should have been the noble who introduced Jessica to the Marishello Clan. Since he chose to die willingly, further pursuit would only incite public fury among the demons.
After handling these two matters, Pei Yan turned his gaze to Jessica, who had avenged her grudge and was now kneeling on the ground, looking bewildered. He shouted, "Jessica, I've already opened a path from the Holy City to the outside world. I will now let Lord Samikina escort you out of the city to meet Lord Sifuer, the leader of the Kataraga Autonomous Territory. She is a friend of mine, and once she knows the situation, she'll take good care of you. As for your brother, I will have him released after this competition, and your family's noble title will be restored!"
Dalles's utility on my side was diminishing; this chess piece, completely under my control, was better dispatched back. This way, the Investigation Hall wouldn't be completely in the dark about the demon race's internal affairs.
Finishing his words, Pei Yan looked beside him at Old Samikina and inquired, "Old sir, is this arrangement acceptable?"
"The Prince has handled it well, rest assured, I will assign someone to escort her to my granddaughter for proper arrangements!" Old Samikina nodded deferentially. By entrusting and publicly declaring Sifuer as his trusted friend, Pei Yan had already shown his stance. At this point, support and response were his only options.
Having settled everything, Pei Yan no longer concerned himself with how today's display of authority would affect those among the demons harboring ill intentions towards him. Accompanied by Samikina, he continued to walk deeper into the Holy Hall.
They walked through a garden, two long corridors, and across several luxurious, stylistically distinct architectural clusters. Each time Pei Yan thought he had reached the residence of the Demon God, Samikina would continue walking ahead until they reached an inconspicuous small flower plot at the deep end of the Holy Hall where Old Samikina gestured invitingly towards a small wooden cabin within the plot.
Pei Yan looked at the small wooden cabin that seemed out of place with the surrounding architecture, a trace of doubt crossing his mind before he understood: of course, a master would be different from others. Only the Demon God would have the privilege to build a wooden cabin in such a place. With that thought, Pei Yan stepped forward, opened the gate to the flower plot, and looked back at the stationary Samikina asking, "Aren't you coming?"
"No! Prince, today the Demon God will only meet with you!" Samikina said, wisely taking two steps back and urging, "Please go ahead, the Demon God has been anticipating your arrival for some time!"
Upon hearing this, Pei Yan stopped being polite, eager to meet with the Demon God himself. Yet, since he was meeting a Lord of the Plane, Pei Yan put aside his impulsive nature, steadily walked across the flower plot, and knocked on the wooden door of the cabin.
"Come in."
Struck by the voice, Pei Yan was momentarily taken aback; it wasn't in the Demon language but in standard Mandarin. Coming back to his senses, he pushed open the wooden door and was first greeted by flickering lights. When he focused on the source of the light, his whole body instantly froze in place.
A young man, slightly younger than him, wearing a casual shirt and looking like a boy-next-door, was sitting on a beanbag chair playing with a controller, Devil May Cry?
Seeing the dazzling moves on the screen, Pei Yan confirmed his eyes weren't deceiving him. At this moment, the young man suddenly spoke, "Come in, and close the door!"
"Oh, oh! Okay!" Pei Yan snapped back to reality, hurriedly closing the door, puzzled as he looked at the youth continuing to play the game within the room.
"There's no internet here, so I have to play the standalone version. Come sit down!" The youth, still focused on his game, indicated with a nod towards another beanbag chair beside him.
"Who's better at this, her or me?"
Adopting a 'since we're here, let's put our hearts at ease' attitude, Pei Yan sat boldly next to the young man, only to hear him ask such a bewildering question. Tilting his head in confusion, Pei Yan pondered for a long while before asking, "Who are you referring to as 'her'?"
"Lin Ruxue! I can never beat her at this game!" The young man's tone was clearly frustrated with the matter.
"Oh! It's her!" Pei Yan was suddenly enlightened, recalling that the first time he met Lin Ruxue's avatar alone, she too seemed to be playing a game. Could it be that both the origin and the main body enjoy this? Is this considered a victory of cultural export?
Shaking his head to dismiss this odd notion, Pei Yan spread his hands helplessly, "I've only seen her play a game once. At that time, I was even more nervous than now, so I didn't really notice how well she played. But from what I see, you're quite good, much better than me!"
