Operation Honey Trap vs The Emperor of the Apocalypse-Chapter 140: OHT Disaster
The walk to the hut took hours, during which time Alton remained at his polite best, always answering Delphi but not offering any ’extra’ conversation unless it was needed.
When the little hut finally came into sight, it was indeed as romantic as its description.
A tiny house that could sleep two, with views of the windswept bay, and a huge spa bath, along with the important solar panels.
Delphi peered into the spa bath. Unfortunately it was a cess pit of stagnant water, so it couldn’t be seconded for OHT.
She tried the outdoor shower, but it wasn’t working, she supposed it required the solar panels to be up and running.
Alton immediately took out the tool kit and started to work on the panels. Delphi had no idea how to fix a solar panel, so she sat on the front deck of the little hut and enjoyed the sunshine and the view; on her own...
"Alton," she called after a while, "shall we have some lunch now?"
"Give me ten," he grunted.
He finally emerged and joined her on the veranda for lunch, wiping the sweat from his brow.
It was a remarkably beautiful view, but Alton simply munched on his roll.
Time to improvise on item number 4, she thought, with admirable determination.
"Alton, I’m going to go for a quick dip in the ocean. It looks so inviting. Do you want to join me?"
"No. You go. Just be careful. It looks like there are sharp rocks in that bay."
She nodded and picked her way down the gentle hill to the beach. She looked back up at Alton and waved. He should have a nice clear view of her from there.
She stripped off her clothes, and waded into the ocean, making sure he got a good long look at her bare ass as she sashayed in very slowly.
Actually, that bit was not even deliberate, the water was so freezing it took her breath away, and almost instantly she wished she had not volunteered for a naked swim in Bass Strait. Note to self, dumb idea, Delphi.
Alton watched her intently, knowing she couldn’t make out his eyes from that distance. If she had been able to make them out, she would have seen that they were both filled with lust and crinkled in amusement. She was so transparent; it was very endearing.
And he had to admit he was not at all unhappy with her seduction tactics, they suited him just fine. At some point though, she was going to have to take a step towards him, not just get her kit off and torment him.
She had finally managed to get into the water and have a swim. He could only imagine how freezing it must be, so hats off to her for persistence.
She’d only been swimming for a minute when she let out a scream. Alton leapt from the veranda and sprinted down to the water before she could even swim back to the beach.
He flew into the ocean with his boots on, just as she managed to find her feet and wade back to the waist deep shallows.
He splashed across to where she waded, still letting out little squeals; she seemed to be plucking at her boobs.
He scooped her into his arms in a princess carry, running back to the beach.
"What is it, Delphi?" he panted.
"Something’s stung me," she cried in pain. "I think it’s a blue bottle?"
He searched across her naked body. Not only had she been stung by a blue bottle, but its tentacle was still wrapped around one of her breasts and another lay across her stomach.
He carefully unwrapped the tentacles using his shirt as a glove.
"Oww," she cried, "that really hurts!"
He cupped his hands and rested his chin in them, both admiring her naked body and watching the angry red welts that were already appearing.
He looked across the beach which was covered in blue bottles.
"Did you not see all of the dead blue bottles?"
"No," she cried, "don’t scold me Alton, it hurts".
"You must have stood on some of them to get into the water. It’s the most noticeable thing about this beach."
She had been too busy focussing on the show she was putting on for OHT. She blamed him for her predicament, she thought crossly.
"I said not to scold me," she wailed, "shouldn’t you be treating the sting with first aid?"
"You really want me to?" he left unsaid the old wives tale about the best remedy for a blue bottle sting being...
"No!" she cried, horrified. "Of course not! There must be an ointment or something?"
"The best treatment is very hot water. I think we better head back to the boat where we can get some for you."
"What about the solar panels?"
"They’re fixed, but it will be hours before they heat any water."
She sighed in defeat.
"Put me down then."
He would have enjoyed carrying her like that all the way back to the boat, but he didn’t want to give her that victory just yet, so he let her put on her clothes.
She angrily struck off item 4 in her notebook:
4. Set a meeting with him when you’re having your shower, leave the door open
She started the long painful walk back to the boat. No more improvising! she thought irritably.
She had no idea what could be going wrong with OHT. It all went so swimmingly when she was recruiting him.
As soon as they made it back to the boat, she went to sit under a hot shower, sighing with relief as the hot water eased the stinging sensation.
She could hear Opal outside the door talking to Indy.
"Oh, Indy, there you are," Opal was saying. "I need to talk to you. I hope you don’t mind but General Meyer has swapped our cabin allocation. Bren requested me in the adjoining cabin just while I’m finishing up treating his eye with Ruby’s prescription. This puts you next door to Loveday anyway, so hopefully you don’t mind? The berths are identical, one single bunk bed."
"Okay," said Indy easily, "when do you need me to move my stuff?"
"Don’t stress. Bren will move it for you seeing as he’s the cause of the effort."
"Well that would be nice," said Indy. "Make sure you thank him for me."
