Chapter 139: The Lighthouse [R18]

[WARNING: ADULT CONTENT]

Alton noticed that Delphi had somehow worked out that he was watching her breasts, despite his dark sunglasses, and she was now wearing a very self-satisfied little smile.

Her eyes fell to his crotch, clearly searching for evidence of the raging hard-on that he was packing but had managed to disguise with the help of his triple underwear flak jacket.

So that’s how it was, was it? he thought.

Two could play at this game...

He pulled his sunglasses off so that the direction of his gaze could not be mistaken by Delphi, deliberately turning his head and shifting his gaze towards Opal’s, also very pleasant to watch in full flight, natural breasts.

Opal, meanwhile, had spotted Niko’s blonde hair glinting in the sun from behind the lifeboat. She immediately increased the pace of her formerly lacklustre star jumps.

Delphi scowled at Alton, her jealously flaring.

Alton clocked her scowl from the corner of his eye. So she did feel jealousy after all...

He looked forward to showing Opal her sword footwork, with plenty of hands-on support...

After the training had finished, Alton chuckled to himself as he strolled off. Delphi’s face had been priceless. He swore he saw some steam coming out of her ears...

As he approached the lifeboat, he saw Niko and Brenner leaning casually against it as though they just happened to be chatting there.

It was Alton’s turn to have a face like thunder as he looked at them suspiciously, wondering how long they’d been hidden there.

"What are you two idlers doing here!" he bawled at them, making them both jump.

"Sir, on my way to check the ballast, Sir," said Niko.

"Other direction, Lieutenant," said Alton drily.

"Yes Sir," said Niko, heading across to the ballast on the starboard side of the boat.

Brenner scurried after him, "me too, Sir, checking the ballast".

Alton glared daggers at the man he had a beef with, and Brenner sped away.

As soon as the girls finished their training, they all lined up for a shower.

Delphi was in a stinking mood and had jumped to the front of the queue.

She pouted at her face in the mirror, checking if there was something wrong with it.

Day one of OHT seemed to have backfired entirely!

Instead of Alton being seduced by her body in her bikini, he had had his eyes glued to Opal; and then he had spent an inordinate amount of time working with the girl on her footwork techniques.

Admittedly, Opal wasn’t very good at them, but even so, was that really necessary?

And he’d placed his hands on her hips to help ’steady’ her while she moved her feet.

Delphi alternated between feeling a burning fire in the pit of her stomach and a kind of hollow fearful concern, like she might be losing him...

She blinked at her reflection. Pull yourself together girl, you can do this! she thought.

She pulled her notebook out of her pocket as she got dressed and opened it to the OHT Plan.

She scratched out items 1 and 2, nearly stabbing her pencil through the page with her heavy strokes:

1. Wear your bikini around him on the boat

2. Exercise in front of him in your bikini

Hm, that only left her with five other possible items, and one of them had ’maybe a bad idea’ next to it...

Still, she was determined to work her way through the list; she was sure it would succeed if she stuck at it.

As they anchored at King Island, Delphi handed out the jobs for the day.

"Opal and Baer, check out the old dairy and take down some sketches. It looks like the most likely candidate for HQ so a detailed survey please. Loveday and Brenner, you’re on food. We know we can live off seafood here but see what fruits and vegetables you can find. We need to know if we have to bring supplies here or not.

Indy and Niko, take an inventory of the other buildings you can get to in a day. What’s still standing that we can still make use of? Arrie and Wolf, head to the lighthouse and see if you can get it operating. We need it for coded light signals to boats. General Meyer and I will head to red rock hut and see if the solar panels are still in order so we can use it as a communications base."

The teams of two headed off in their hiking gear, armed with maps Delphi had prepared.

She let Bogden trot along after Alton and her. She had an ulterior motive choosing the red rock hut task; it was once a romantic couples retreat, so she held out high hopes it could be the scene of her next OHT item.

Arrie and Wolf headed off in the direction of the lighthouse.

"I don’t know anything about how to repair a lighthouse," she confessed, feeling useless. She wasn’t really sure what she could do to help with this job.

"That’s okay. I’m an engineer, that’s why the Generals would give me this job. You can hold the tools for me and help me with the work."

She nodded. She would definitely do her best to be helpful. She hated not being able to pull her weight.

They walked on in a comfortable silence.

"Are you feeling any better since the morning we left?" Wolf inquired awkwardly.

"A little bit," she really didn’t want to talk about this with Wolf, or anyone for that matter; it was too raw. "It’s been good to be so busy on this travel, it’s kept my mind occupied."

"That’s good," he said, genuinely. "Don’t waste time being sad about Baer. He’s not worth it. He’s never been good to women. He’s a bad news Baer."

Arrie couldn’t help laughing and Wolf joined her. It was nice to see her laugh again, he reflected. She was such a happy little livewire; he really didn’t like to see her so morose.

They had arrived at the lighthouse and Wolf pushed his way inside. He lead the way up the many winding steps to the top, where there was a very beautiful view.

"Come out here," he beckoned her onto the ancient balcony.

"Do you think it’s safe? How do you know it won’t just fall away with our weight?"

"Because it was made to last hundreds of years in this incredibly harsh environment. And because I’m an engineer. Come on, don’ t tell me a gymnast like you is afraid of heights?"

"Definitely not."

She took his hand, and he helped her out onto the tiny narrow balcony with a waist height railing.

They sat down next to one another and took in the magnificent view.

"This is pretty special," Arrie said, feeling a little bit of peace for the first time in days, like just maybe, there would be a day sometime in the future, when the pain wouldn’t be so awful.

"You seem to love music Araminta; do you want me to sing to you?"

"No," she laughed, looking over at him to see if he was joking.

He winked at her.
