Chapter 35: Chapter 35

Celeste POV.

I walked down the packhouse hall, a tray of steaming food in my hands, my lips curling into a smile.

The smell of roasted meat and fresh bread filled the air, but my mind was elsewhere, buzzing with excitement.

I was Celeste, but everyone here thought I was Aria, my twin sister, the low-born Omega who’d stolen my place as Luna.

I’d come to the Shadow Claw pack house to ruin her, to make Kael hate her, to take back what was mine, him, the Alpha, the power.

My plan was working. The fire at the Fang Pack hadn’t killed them, but it shook them. The poisoned tea almost got her, and now, hearing Kael was cold to her, ignoring her, made my heart race with glee.

This was my chance, my moment to get close to him, to make him want me.

I stopped short when I saw a maid by the kitchen door, her face red, tears streaming down her cheeks.

Her apron was stained, her hands trembling as she wiped her eyes. My smile faded, curiosity sparking.

"What’s wrong?" I asked, my voice soft, fake concern dripping from my words.

I set the tray on a nearby table, stepping closer, my eyes narrowing.

The maid sniffled, her voice shaky. "Alpha Kael... he threw food in my face," she said, her hands twisting together.

"Told me to get out of his study. He was so angry." Her eyes dropped, her shoulders slumping, and my brows shot up, surprise hitting me.

Kael, angry at a maid? He was tough and ruthless, sure, but I’d never seen him lash out like that, not to his pack members.

"What else?" I asked, my voice low, leaning closer, my heart pounding.

I needed more, needed to know how deep his anger ran.

She hesitated, her eyes flicking to mine, then away. "He was cold to his Luna, Luna Celeste this morning," she said, her voice barely a whisper.

"Ignored her, snapped at her. She looked so hurt." Her words were like music, my smile creeping back, sharp and sly.

Kael, still ignoring Aria? Perfect.

If he was pushing her away, hating her, it meant my plan was working. I wanted him to either hate the name Aria; the name I was using, or hate her totally.

I wanted him to turn to me instead, to see me as the better choice.

I patted the maid’s shoulder, my smile warm, fake. "Don’t worry," I said, my voice sweet.

"Go rest. I’ll take care of Alpha Kael." My words were kind, but my mind was racing, planning.

This was my shot to get close to him, to make him notice me, to pull him away from her.

The maid frowned, her eyes worried. "Be careful, Aria," she said, thinking I was my sister.

"He’s not himself. He might hurt you too." Her voice was soft, her hands still shaking, but I just smiled, nodding, my confidence high.

"Don’t worry," I said, my voice firm, my smile wider.

"He won’t hurt me or my feelings like he did with yours." My heart skipped, excitement buzzing. Kael wouldn’t resist me, not when I played my cards right.

I grabbed a fresh tray, piling it with food, meat, bread, a cup of water, my hands steady, my mind sharp.

I smoothed my dress, a tight red one that hugged my curves, and pushed my boobs up, my cleavage showing, my lips curling.

"Let’s see if he doesn’t get attracted to me," I muttered, my voice low, a thrill running through me.

I headed to his study, my heels clicking on the stone floor, the packhouse quiet, the morning light dim through the windows.

My heart raced, my hands tight on the tray, my thoughts spinning. Kael was mine, always had been, and I’d make him see it.

Aria didn’t deserve him, didn’t deserve the Luna title. I’d ruin her, take her place, and have him for myself. I reached the study door, my smile sly, and knocked, sharp and quick.

One knock, two, three, no answer. My brows furrowed, impatience creeping in. I knocked again, harder, but still nothing. Fine. I’d go by myself. Without anyone’s permission. freёnovelkiss-com

I pushed the door open, the hinges creaking, and stepped inside, my eyes adjusting to the dim light.

The study was small, the desk cluttered with papers, a single candle flickering. Kael was on the couch, sprawled out, his ash-gray shirt loose, his hand covering his face as he slept.

My breath caught, my eyes locking on him. His chest rose and fell, slow and steady, his dark hair messy, his jaw sharp.

But something was off, a white bandage peeked from under his shirt, stained with blood, his hand pressing it lightly.

My heart skipped, curiosity mixing with my plan. Was he hurt? Why? I shut the door quietly, my smile fading, my mind racing with new ideas.

I set the tray on the desk, the plates clinking softly, and stepped closer, my heels silent on the rug.

Sinister thoughts fueled me, my heart pounding with excitement. If he was weak, vulnerable, this was even better.

I could use it, get closer, make him need me. I crouched beside the couch, my eyes on his chest, his bandage, the blood.

"Alpha Kael," I whispered, my voice soft, teasing, my hand hovering over his shirt. He didn’t move, his breath steady, his face calm.

My smile grew, my fingers brushing the first button of his shirt, undoing it slow, careful. His skin was warm, his chest hard, tempting.

My heart raced, my breath quick, excitement buzzing. One button, two, three, four, his chest bare now, the bandage clear, blood seeping through.

I reached for the fifth button, my fingers steady, ready to see more, to touch more.

But just then, Alpha Kael’s hand shot out, fast and sharp, grabbing my neck, his grip tight, painful. My eyes widened, fear gripping me, my breath gone.

Kael’s eyes snapped open, dark and fierce, his face twisted with anger. "You’re not my mate!" he growled, his voice low, dangerous, his fingers tightening.

"What are you doing here?" His eyes burned into mine, his wolf close, his breath heavy, and my heart pounded, shock and fear crashing over me.

I was Celeste, but he thought I was Aria, my twin sister, the Omega who’d stolen my place as Luna.

I’d come to his study to seduce him, to make him want me, to ruin her, but now his grip was crushing, his eyes burning with rage.

I struggled, my hands clawing at his, my voice shaky. "Please, Alpha Kael, let me go!" I begged, my words desperate, my throat tight.

His grip tightened, pain stabbing deeper, his growl louder. "Who let you in?" he snapped, his face closer to mine, his breath hot.

I gasped, my legs shaking, my heart racing. I’d pushed my dress to show my cleavage, unbuttoned his shirt, thought I could win him, but I’d misjudged, and now I was trapped.

"I... I brought your food," I stammered, my voice weak, pointing to the tray on the desk, the plates of meat and bread untouched.

"The maid said you threw food at her, so I thought..." My words trailed off, my hands trembling, tears burning my eyes.

His grip didn’t loosen, his eyes narrowing, like he didn’t believe me.

At that moment , the door creaked open, the sound sharp, and Beta Brian rushed in just in time, his brown eyes wide, his boots heavy on the floor.

"Alpha!" he shouted, his voice tense, his hands reaching for Kael’s arm.

"Let her go!" He thought I was Aria too, his fake Luna’s sister, and his worry made my stomach twist, anger mixing with my fear.

Brian pulled at Kael, his strength firm, and Kael’s hand jerked back, releasing me. I fell hard, my butt hitting the floor, pain shooting up my spine, my breath gone.

Brian’s eyes flicked to me, his voice stern. "Leave, now," he commanded, his hand pointing to the door.

I didn’t wait, didn’t breathe. I scrambled up, my legs shaky, my dress crumpled, tears spilling down my cheeks.

Kael’s words echoed in my mind, "You’re not my mate!" cutting deep, my heart aching with rejection, rage burning hotter.

I ran out, the door slamming behind me, my heels clicking fast on the stone floor.

In the hall, I bumped into the maid from earlier, her apron still stained, her eyes wide with concern.

"Aria, what happened?" she asked, her voice soft, polite, her hands reaching out like we were friends.

My anger flared, my hand flying before I could think, slapping her face hard, the sound sharp, her cheek red.

"Don’t ask me stupid questions!" I snapped, my voice loud, venomous.

"And don’t think we’re friends!" My chest heaved, my hands clenching, tears hot on my face.

I didn’t care about her hurt look, her flinch. I stormed past, my heart pounding, my mind a mess of rage and pain.

I burst out of the packhouse, the morning air cold, the sun low, and climbed into the waiting car, my hands shaking as I slammed the door.

The engine roared, the car speeding away, my heart racing, Kael’s words still burning "You’re not my mate!"

My fingers clenched the seat, my nails digging in, my breath short. "He should be mine!" I growled, my voice low, my eyes glinting blue, my inner wolf, Alaska, pushing forward, her rage hot, her jealousy sharp.

Hatred for Aria, my sister, flooded me, burning through my veins.
