Online Game: Starting With SSS-Ranked Summons-Chapter 584: Level 15, Time to deal with the demons
Once Charlotte reached level 15 after obliterating a level 21 Armoured Bear with a barrage of bullets, she immediately turned to Arthur with eager enthusiasm. ππΏπππ ππππ¨πππ.ππ π
"What's next? I feel like I could keep going! There's a whole pack ofβ"
"Stop," Arthur interrupted gently but firmly, raising his hand. "Before we continue, we need to address something important that we've been neglecting."
He had thought that he was a battle maniac, but it turns out that his sister was more of that than he was.
Charlotte blinked with confusion, the glow of mana fading from her fingertips. "What do you mean? I'm doing fine, aren't I?"
"You're doing excellent," Arthur confirmed. "But you haven't allocated any of your attribute points yet. You've gained 14 stat points from levellingβone per level from 2 through 15. We need to spend those before you fight anything stronger."
Charlotte's eyes widened as realisation struck. "Oh! I completely forgot about that! The notifications kept appearing, but I was too focused on combat to pay attention." She pulled up her status screen, studying the accumulated points. "Okay, so... where should I put them? Maybe some in strength or agility?"
Arthur shook his head decisively. "Put all 14 points into Vitality."
"What? All of them?" Charlotte looked shocked by the recommendation. "But I'm a mage! Shouldn't I focus on my weakness in close combat? I played a few games myself."
"Your body needs to be strong first," Arthur explained, his voice carrying the weight of hard-learned lessons. "What happened to youβthe mana poisoning, the cancerβit happened because your physical form couldn't handle the power your talent provided. I'm not letting that happen again. Ever."
His expression softened slightly as he continued. "Charlotte, you have infinite mana. You don't need Intelligence to increase your mana pool because yours is already limitless. And your mana purity increases automatically every week, which will boost your spell damage naturally over time. What you need is a body resilient enough to channel that unlimited power without breaking down."
Charlotte absorbed this explanation, her hand unconsciously moving to her chest. "So Vitality makes my body... tougher? Able to handle more magic?"
"Exactly," Arthur confirmed. "Vitality increases your health, your physical resilience, and most importantly, your body's capacity to channel and process mana safely. Higher Vitality means your biological systems can handle greater magical throughput without suffering damage or exhaustion."
He gestured at her staff. "Right now, you're casting relatively intermediate constructsβHello Kitty bombs, bullets, mana shields and whatnot. But as you get stronger and start attempting more complex mana manipulation, the strain on your body will increase exponentially. You need the physical foundation to support that growth."
"But what about my other attributes?" Charlotte asked, still uncertain. "Don't I need Strength for... I don't know, physical combat? Or Agility so I can dodge better?"
Arthur smiled at the question. "As a mage, you can solve both those problems through mana enhancement."
He demonstrated by channelling mana through his own body, his movements becoming noticeably faster and more precise. "Mana reinforcement lets you strengthen your physical capabilities temporarily. You can boost your speed to dodge, enhance your strength if you ever need close combat, improve your reflexesβall through controlled mana circulation."
"And with your infinite mana," Arthur continued, "you can maintain body reinforcement constantly without worrying about running out. Other mages have to carefully ration their mana between spells and physical enhancement. You don't. You can run enhanced strength, speed, and reflexes permanently while still casting unlimited spells."
Charlotte's expression shifted from uncertainty to understanding. "So I don't need to invest in Strength or Agility because I can just... use mana to be strong and fast whenever I need to?"
"Precisely," Arthur confirmed. "Your attribute points are better spent on Vitality, which you can't replicate through mana enhancement. Physical resilience, cellular durability, mana channel capacityβthose require actual biological improvement, not just temporary reinforcement."
He placed a hand on Charlotte's shoulder, meeting her eyes seriously. "You're going to become incredibly powerful, Charlotte. Your talent guarantees that. But I need you to have the physical foundation to support that power safely. I almost lost you once because your body couldn't handle your own strength. I'm not taking that risk again."
Charlotte nodded slowly, conviction replacing her doubts. "Okay. All 14 points into Vitality. You're rightβI don't want to risk hurting myself with my own power."
She focused on her status screen, mentally allocating all her accumulated attribute points into the Vitality stat. Immediately, she gasped as the changes took effect.
Warmth flooded through her bodyβnot uncomfortable, but intense and pervasive. She could feel her cells strengthening, her bones becoming denser, her muscles gaining resilience she hadn't possessed moments before. The pathways through which mana flowed seemed to widen and reinforce themselves, capable of channeling far greater power than before.
"Whoa," Charlotte breathed, looking down at her hands with wonder. "I feel... solid. Like I'm more real than I was a minute ago."
"That's your body adapting to accommodate higher power levels," Arthur explained. "With 14 additional Vitality, you can safely channel significantly more mana through your system. Your constructs can be bigger, more complex, more powerfulβwithout risking internal damage."
Aether, who had been watching quietly from Charlotte's shoulder, chirped with approval. "Master's sister feels stronger now! More sturdy! Like Aether could sit on her and she wouldn't get squished!"
Charlotte laughed, reaching up to gently scratch behind the void dragon's ears. "Thanks, Aether. I think that's a compliment?"
"It definitely is!" Aether confirmed enthusiastically.
Arthur checked Charlotte's updated status through their party interface, confirming the changes had been properly applied. Her Vitality had jumped substantially, bringing her physical resilience much closer to what he considered acceptable for someone with her power level.
Still not enough long-term, Arthur thought critically. But it's a solid foundation. Every level from here, all points go into Vitality until she reaches at least level 25. Then we can consider diversifying.
"Alright," Arthur said aloud. "Now that your attributes are properly allocated, we can continue. But I want you to focus on something while we huntβtry channeling mana through your body to enhance your physical movements. Practice maintaining that reinforcement while also casting spells."
Charlotte nodded with determination. "Simultaneous body enhancement and spell casting. Got it. Should be easy with infinite mana, right?"
"The mana isn't the hard part," Arthur cautioned. "The difficulty is mentalβmaintaining two separate mana flows with different purposes simultaneously. Your conscious mind needs to track both enhancement circulation and spell construction at the same time."
"Sounds like good practice," Charlotte said, already beginning to circulate mana through her legs experimentally. She took a step and nearly stumbled as the enhanced strength made her movement more forceful than intended. "Okay, maybe harder than I thought. I almost launched myself forward."
Arthur chuckled. "You'll get used to it. Start with a subtle enhancementβjust 10-20% boostβand gradually increase as you develop better control. Eventually it'll become as natural as breathing."
"Master's sister will be super fast and super strong and shoot exploding kitties all at the same time!" Aether declared confidently. "Most amazing mage ever!"
Charlotte smiled at the void dragon's enthusiasm before turning back to Arthur with renewed focus.
"Alright. Level 15, Vitality invested, ready to learn simultaneous enhancement. What monsters are we hunting next?"
"The demons on earth." Arthur grinned. It was time to do some hunting on earth. His sister was strogn enough to handle the superior rank threats at level 10 or so on earth without much struggling.
