Chapter 182: Chapter 182: The Doe Family Founds a Nation, The Heaven-Devil Empire Awakens

"Really?" Lina asked, her eyes full of anticipation.

She’d already discovered that advancing her alchemy and pill-making skills in the game had real-world benefits as well.

"Johnnie, you haven’t spent any time with us lately." Crysic said with a hint of complaint in her voice.

Johnnie felt a pang of guilt. He really had been caught up with important matters in the game these past few days.

He smiled apologetically. "Alright, I’ll make it up to you tonight."

The Doe Family was set to Build a country in the early hours, so Johnnie still had plenty of time. Besides, he planned to wait until after they’d survived the Beast Wave attack before making his move—he wanted them to know the true meaning of despair.

"I’ve still got things to do, so I’m heading into the game." Lina announced as she stood up. She winked at Crysic, then glanced at Cecilia and Holly. "Come on, you two. Let’s go."

"Huh?" The two girls stared at her in confusion.

Lina rolled her eyes; she wasn’t exactly great with people, but even she noticed how slow these two were on the uptake.

She cleared her throat and gave them a pointed look. "Didn’t you guys say you’d help me level up tonight?"

Holly looked completely bewildered. "Level up? Who said that? Lina, we’ve tried to get you to team up and grind with us a bunch of times, but you never—"

"Ahem!" Cecilia quickly cut her off with a cough, realizing what Lina meant. "Yeah, we did say that.Let’s go. Leveling up is important."

She exchanged a glance with Crysic, then grabbed a still-confused Holly and hurried out of the room.

Now only Johnnie and Crysic were left. The room suddenly felt a little too quiet, the air tinged with a subtle tension.

"I’ll give you all my attention tonight." Johnnie said with a soft smile, pulling Crysic into his arms. Seeing her blushing, shy expression, he couldn’t resist any longer—he leaned down and kissed her deeply.

Crysic let out a soft moan, wrapping her arms around his neck and responding with passion.

Before long, the room was filled with the sounds of their intimacy.

After fusing her attributes, Crysic thought her newfound strength would be enough to keep up with Johnnie. But she had clearly overestimated herself.

It wasn’t even an hour and a half before she was utterly spent, begging him for mercy.

...

Her hoarse pleas for respite lasted until the early hours of the morning, when Johnnie was finally satisfied and let Crysic rest.

He felt completely refreshed, all traces of exhaustion gone, even his mental energy restored.

"Amazing." Johnnie muttered in surprise. Could it be that spending the night with these women truly counted as dual cultivation?

He noticed Crysic was simply tired, with no negative effects—if anything, the power within her seemed stronger than before.

At that moment, glistening tears still clung to the corners of Crysic’s eyes as she lay on the bed, fast asleep.

Johnnie didn’t disturb her. He pulled out his login crystal and entered the game once more.

Tonight, the Doe Family was Build a country—he definitely needed to make an appearance.

As Johnnie logged in, he found himself in the Land of Nothingness.

The place was as vast and empty as ever, a powerful sense of oppression radiating from its depths.

He still wasn’t strong enough to explore further inside, but with the path map in his possession, he could come and go as he pleased. He’d wait until he was stronger before venturing deeper.

Johnnie took out the path map, activated it, and easily slipped through the barrier, leaving the place behind.

The next second, he appeared at the Vortanis City teleportation point.

Universe Continent was deep in the night, almost perfectly synced with real-world time.

Outside the city, monster roars and the sounds of battle echoed through the darkness. The teleportation array here had already been destroyed.

Clearly, the Doe Family was worried someone might use the teleportation array to sneak into Vortanis City and disrupt their plans to found the nation.

But they had no idea Johnnie had already left the Land of Nothingness and arrived completely undetected.

There were no other players in sight—everyone was gathered at the city walls, defending against the Beast Wave.

Johnnie didn’t rush in. Instead, he used the Sword-Control Technique, ascending high into the sky and using the cover of night to leave the city.

From above, he could see the Beast Wave surging toward the city in a seemingly endless tide—monsters swarming like a living flood.

In the distance, plenty of players were watching the spectacle.

After all, aside from the recently revived Haldrem Empire, this was the first nation to be founded on Universe Continent. Everyone was curious just how intense the Beast Wave would be.

"Demon race!" Johnnie gasped when he saw the forces holding the city walls.

Not only were there players, but powerful demon warriors fighting side by side.

So the Doe Family was in league with the demon race!

Johnnie’s expression turned icy. These demons were even crueler than the Plutonians or demonic beasts. When the game first invaded Earth, the demon race had been pulling the strings behind the scenes—if anyone deserved to die, it was them.

Still, he didn’t move just yet. He stood atop his flying sword, silently hovering in the air, watching everything with cold detachment.

"Maiev, are there any gods among them?" Johnnie asked inwardly.

What he feared wasn’t the demon elite, but the Doe Family Ancestor—who had refined Pluto’s Divine Soul and become a new god.

"No, Master." Maiev’s voice echoed in his mind. "There’s no divine presence here at all."

None?

Johnnie frowned. "Is it possible the power of Universe Continent is suppressing them?"

Maiev replied, "Impossible. Even with the Continent’s suppression, you can’t completely mask a god’s aura. I can sense even a god’s avatar, let alone a true deity."

Johnnie was even more puzzled.

He had seen with his own eyes as Douglas used the Demon-Refining Pot to absorb Pluto’s Divine Soul. Douglas even carried a trace of Pluto’s origin power—if he managed to refine that Divine Soul, he’d definitely become Pluto.

But there was no sign of any divine presence here. Did that mean Douglas had failed to refine it?

Or maybe he just wasn’t in Vortanis City?

But defending the city during the nation-founding Beast Wave was absolutely critical—there was no way Douglas would leave at a time like this.

"Johnnie, I can sense Pluto’s origin power. That guy must have refined Pluto’s Divine Soul, but he didn’t become Pluto." Azure Dragon’s voice suddenly echoed in his mind. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

"He didn’t become Pluto?" Johnnie asked, confused. "I thought when a god of the Universe Continent falls, someone else always ascends to fill the vacancy right away?"

"That’s right." Azure Dragon responded. "Pluto should have been reborn already, but not as someone from the Doe Family. It’s actually that Princess Lisa from the Haldrem Empire."

Princess Lisa?

Everything suddenly clicked for Johnnie—the Haldrem Empire’s revival, his failed quest to rescue the princess. It all lined up.

Pluto had once been the god worshipped by the Haldrem Empire, and Lisa was the one he had captured. Now it seemed Pluto had prepared for everything, shifting almost all of his origin power to Princess Lisa.

So, once Pluto fell, Princess Lisa would become the new Pluto.

Douglas had schemed for so long, but in the end, it was all for nothing. He was probably furious right now.

But what worried Johnnie was The Chinese City.

With a god now stationed at the Haldrem Empire—and located right in the Dark Forest—it could pose a serious threat to The Chinese City. Once matters with the Doe Family were settled, he’d have to deal with the Haldrem Empire too.

He was certain a clash between Haldrem Empire and The Chinese City was inevitable, especially since The Chinese City was also planning to Build a country.

[System Announcement: Heaven-Devil Empire has been revived! All players who join Heaven-Devil Empire receive a 10% attribute bonus.]

...

Just then, three loud system announcements rang out—another nation had revived.

The Demonic Creatures’ Heaven-Devil Empire!

The world chat channel instantly exploded with excitement and speculation.

Johnnie wasn’t surprised. Macbeth had already told him the Demonic Creatures were working on reviving the Heaven-Devil Empire. But neither the Heaven-Devil nor the Haldrem Empire had triggered a Beast Wave when they revived. That struck him as odd.

Ding!

His private message alert popped up.

Dylan: "Johnnie, there’s movement in the Dark Forest. A huge army of Wraith Soldiers is on the move. Not sure if they’re trying to leave the forest or if they’re coming after The Chinese City."

Johnnie frowned, deep in thought.

He didn’t think this undead army was targeting The Chinese City directly—they were probably moving to stop the Doe Family from Building a country.

Clearly, Dylan had the same suspicion.

Still, it didn’t hurt to be cautious.

He replied immediately, "Have the soldiers open the passage to the Dark Forest. Don’t block the way. Everyone else, hold your ground and defend The Chinese City. If they make any move against us, let me know at once!"

Dylan: "Understood."

Johnnie closed the private chat. The Chinese City was too important to him—if the Haldrem Empire’s army of undead monsters really did decide to attack, he’d have to rush back and support the defense personally.

As for the Doe Family’s attempt to Build a country, this Beast Wave assault clearly wouldn’t end anytime soon.

Not long after, Johnnie received another private message from Dylan.

Dylan: "The undead army isn’t coming for The Chinese City. They’ve left, and from the direction they’re moving, they’re heading straight for the Doe Family’s founding site—Vortanis City. I also got word that near the ruins of Astral City, a massive force of Demonic Creatures is mobilizing, and they’re headed for Vortanis City too."

Johnnie wasn’t surprised by the news.

Dylan: "Should we go after the Doe Family too? They’re up to no good, and whoever founds a nation stands to gain a lot."

Johnnie: "Don’t worry. Leave this to me. There’s no way the Doe Family is going to succeed in Build a country."

Johnnie was confident—he still had three gods on his side. Even without the Haldrem Empire or the Heaven-Devil Empire intervening, he was sure he could stop the Doe Family’s plans.

Roar...

Roars echoed from below. Dawn was breaking, but the Beast Wave army showed no signs of letting up. In fact, the monsters were increasing in number and growing even more powerful.

Now, all the monsters appearing were level 6 threats, far stronger than any current player. By his estimate, the Beast Wave assault would continue for at least another six hours.

The soldiers on the city walls could no longer hold back the monsters—they had to rely on the demon army for defense.

These demons were much stronger, but facing this endless tide, their casualties kept mounting.

But unlike players, the demons could resurrect instantly on the spot, without having to return to a respawn point and wait an hour.

As Johnnie observed these powerful Demonic Creatures, he had a strange feeling—these guys seemed just like players!

They could resurrect after death, gain experience and level up by killing monsters, and even refine in-game items and artifacts.

Everything pointed to the fact that these demons were no different from players—perhaps even stronger, with special rules protecting them and allowing instant resurrection.

But if they were players, why had he never heard of demons in any of the starter villages?

In his previous life, information about the demon race had always been scarce.

Maybe their starter villages weren’t even on Universe Continent at all.
