Chapter 339 - 339: Clash of Titans – Mio vs. Garp
Gion still clearly remembers the first time she saw this guy. It was in Little Garden. Back then, he didn't have as many crew members as he does now, and neither he nor his companions were all that powerful.
But now...
Even from a distance, Gion could feel the terrifying aura radiating from Mio.
And his crew—aside from Robin, who wasn't a front-line fighter—each one emanated a fearsome presence.
While she had been relentlessly training, these people had only been getting stronger.
Each one of them exuded a dangerous aura that made her feel a chill deep in her bones.
Because Mio was a special existence to Gion, she remembered him clearly.
After all, he was the first pirate she had ever wanted to capture personally.
"Isn't that natural?" Mio shrugged and grinned. "Of all those guys—Aokiji, Akainu, Kizaru—only Kizaru can even put up a fight. But you, Garp... you're the only one who can really let me fight with everything I've got."
In Mio's eyes, Garp had always been the strongest in the Navy.
It just didn't show often—mostly because the chances to witness his full power were rare.
Among the current Admirals, Aokiji, Akainu, and Kizaru were still too young and hadn't reached their true peaks. Even if they had, Mio didn't think much of them—especially Aokiji and Akainu—because of his unique abilities.
Mio's power rendered them ineffective.
Only Kizaru could fight on more equal footing.
But Garp was something else. Even though they hadn't clashed many times, Mio was certain of one thing—there were people in the world who had honed their Haki and physical abilities to their absolute limits. And Garp stood at the summit of that category.
He once joined forces with Roger to defeat Rocks, and even chased Roger to the ends of the world.
There's no way he isn't a monster.
And what proved it most? His son was the leader of the Revolutionary Army. His grandson was a notorious pirate. And he even raised the son of the Pirate King.
With the World Government's resources and paranoia, anyone else would've been captured long ago.
But they didn't dare touch Garp. Sure, part of it was due to Sengoku and Kong, but a huge reason was Garp's own sheer strength.
"You brat, keep talking like that and I'll take you straight to Impel Down," Garp chuckled, crunching down on a senbei.
"I wouldn't mind paying Impel Down a visit, honestly. But do your Marines dare let me in?" Mio smirked. "If I went in, I wouldn't leave a single Devil Fruit user alive." freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
Hearing this, Garp's expression darkened slightly, but there was also a trace of helplessness in his eyes.
He knew the truth: the Navy really didn't dare send Mio to Impel Down now.
They'd already captured some of the criminals who had escaped from Level 6, and from them, they'd learned Mio's true reason for going there.
When they first heard it, they were stunned.
That kind of spirit, that kind of madness—Mio was destined to stand atop the sea.
Even if they caught him now, Mio wouldn't be thrown into Impel Down. He'd be locked away in the secret prison beneath Mariejois—a place few even knew existed. It wasn't for punishment but for breaking down and recruiting talent for CP.
"Garp, I know why you're here. But you should know—you're not getting through me." Mio grinned. "So why not warm up with a good fight?"
To be honest, just standing here, facing Garp, made Mio's instincts tingle.
That gut feeling screamed at him: this guy is strong.
He wanted to see how strong.
"You brat... You really are a pain," Garp muttered. Then he sighed, a faint smile forming on his face. "But I guess I've got no choice. If I don't do something, Sengoku's gonna yell at me when I get back."
As his words fell—
Garp took a single step forward.
The warship beneath him trembled violently.
In the blink of an eye, Garp's figure vanished, reappearing high in the sky—charging toward the Black Glory.
But Mio was already prepared. He grinned wildly as he vanished from the deck.
In the next instant, Mio was in front of Garp, his fist already shooting forward, covered in hardened Armament Haki that gleamed ominously.
Boom!
Garp's punch came crashing in just as fast.
Fist met fist.
A violent shockwave exploded out from the impact. In the sky above, clouds were instantly blown apart.
Mio's eyes widened in surprise. "That power... Damn!!"
"You're not weak either, brat!" Garp said, his expression hardening. He was slightly impressed—Mio's strength was definitely formidable. He could feel pressure building... but just barely.
Then—
Whoosh!
Mio reappeared on Garp's right side and lashed out with a devastating kick.
Boom!
Garp's body was blasted backward, hurtling through the air before smashing into a nearby uninhabited island.
Rumble...
The whole island trembled from the impact.
Dust rose like a storm.
Mio landed softly, hands in his pockets, as the wind gently stirred his coat. The haze of dust cleared just in time to reveal Garp brushing himself off.
He stood, unscathed, and calmly removed his navy cloak, loosening his tie.
"Kid... your strength and Haki are impressive," Garp said. "I heard you fought Whitebeard to a draw. Let me see how far you've come."
With that declaration, he released his full aura.
A storm-like wave of power blasted out from him. The sheer pressure was crushing.
Mio only grinned in excitement. "That's exactly what I wanted."
Boom!
Just as Garp had done, Mio let his full presence explode outward. The two waves of pressure collided in midair, shaking the skies.
Then, both of them vanished.
In the blink of an eye, they were airborne again—trading brutal blows.
Their fists clashed with devastating force, shaking the heavens. Garp's monstrous strength and impeccable Armament Haki were on full display. For a moment, Mio felt the overwhelming weight of it and couldn't help but laugh, even while straining to block.
"So this is your true power?" Mio shouted. "It's insane!"
He was blasted backward by the next punch, skidding across the air before stabilizing.
Stronger than me... Mio thought, a rare moment of genuine awe in his eyes. This must be the same level as Noah... maybe stronger.
He couldn't help but be impressed.
"Shocked?" Garp called out.
"No," Mio responded, shaking his head. "Just impressed."
With that, he vanished again—appearing behind Garp with a punch already flying toward the back of his head.
But before the strike could land—
Boom!
Garp spun around, fist already in motion, as if he'd been waiting for Mio to appear there the whole time.
Prepared. Precise.
A perfect counter.
