One Night Stand With Alexander Blackwood-Chapter 36 — Thirty-six (Unedited - )
Third Person’s POV
"What could that be?" Serena suppressed her fears and asked.
"Your father wants to hand over your mother’s bakery to Elena. He wants her to manage it."
"What?" Serena’s eyes widened. "How could my father do such a thing?"
Mama’s expression turned dull. "I don’t know why your dad decided to take such a step."
"I will confront him. He can’t take away my mom’s life work and give it away to a stranger."
Serena didn’t wait for any reply as she rushed into the living room. There, she saw that the room was bustling with activities.
Her dad was surrounded by people and they were laughing. Elena was there as well, and excitement was written all over her face. Why wouldn’t she be? She was about to get something she didn’t work for.
"Father." Serena called out once she was close enough. All eyes turned to her instantly, and they began murmuring among themselves.
"Isn’t this the legitimate daughter of the Wilsons?"
"I haven’t seen her in like what... five years?"
"You don’t know? Ever since her mother died and the mistress moved in, she left the house. Rumors have it that Elena has been involved with her father even before her mother’s death."
Elena’s face changed as her eyes darted towards them, glaring at them in the process.
"Why are you here?" Elena walked forward, and almost held Serena by her hand but she backed away.
Serena snorted. "Don’t you think I should be here? If I wasn’t here, perhaps my dad would have given my mom’s hard-earned company to an outsider."
In anger, she yelled, her eyes turning red while pointing at Elena who was taken aback.
"H-how did you find out about it?" Her father, Grant asked. His lips trembled due to the immense feeling of guilt.
"If I hadn’t shown up, I would not have known that you wanted to take such a drastic action. Tell me Father, how do you sleep peacefully knowing fully well that you’ve wronged my mother?"
Before waiting for his reply, she snapped her head towards Elena. "And you—" she started pointing her trembling fingers at her. "—how do you feel comfortable knowing that you are nothing but a mistress?"
"Serena!" Elena screamed, with all her veins popping out. Her eyes were red as she couldn’t control her anger. "How dare you say such a thing?"
Serena rolled her eyes while she folded her arms. "Scared? Are you being pricked by guilt?"
Grant’s brows creased and when Serena was unaware, he held her by her arms, his fingers almost digging into her skin.
The space between Serena’s brows drew together as she winced in pain. "What are you doing?" She demanded while struggling to free herself from his grip.
"Teaching you a lesson." Grant answered with a very low voice. He gestured towards Elena who understood what he meant instantly.
Grant pulled Serena away while Elena turned towards the guests while playing damage control.
From where she was watching Maya’s eyes widened. Mama unintentionally held Maya’s arm. "This is bad. Grant will injure her."
Frantically, she turned to Maya who was already panicking. "We have to save her. I don’t care what we have to do, Serena needs to be safe or he could kill her."
A sense of urgency arose in Maya’s body, and without Mama realising, she dashed out of the house.
With tears in her eyes, she ran towards Alexander’s car praying that he would not have left.
Once she arrived at the place he had parked his car, desperation set into her body for she was unable to find his car.
She collapsed to the floor. "Serena... would she be hurt?"
Suddenly, she felt a shadow cover and she raised her head. Relief flooded through her chest when her eyes met with Alexander’s.
"Boss," she started, relief evident in her voice as she helped herself up. "I’m glad that you haven’t left."
Alexander’s eyes darkened seeing her battered appearance. "Why are you like this? Where is Serena?" He demanded. His voice was low, and dangerous.
"She... she was... dragged in by her father. He could injure her." Maya answered, stuttering in the process.
Alexander’s eyes widened. "Where is she?" He asked with a loud voice.
"In the mansion." Maya pointed in the direction of the house. Without waiting for another word from Maya, he rushed in the direction.
Maya, on the other hand, who was breathing heavily followed after him but was unable to keep up.
In a few seconds, thank to Alexander’s long legs, he was able to reach the entrance of the mansion. Without waiting for anyone’s permission, he kicked the door open.
Mama was already waiting by the door, and fear gripped her when she saw Alexander who had a stormy expression.
She turned to Maya who just walked in, and tentatively asked with her voice slightly above a whisper. "Who is he?"
Maya smiled softly. "This is our boss, Mr. Blackwood. You don’t have to worry, Serena would be safe since he is here now."
Alexander wasn’t ready or interested in any form of formalities. "Where is she?"
"Upstairs. He would punish her according to the family rules."
Alexander’s eyes darkened further. "Family rules?"
"There is no time for me to explain. We need to save her." Maya interrupted. Alexander agreed, and said. "Take me there."
Mama was the one to lead the way. They didn’t pass the main hall, which was where the banquet was being held.
Instead, they passed through a flight of stairs and once they reached the corridor, they heard a loud slash as though it could cut the air, before hearing a sharp scream of pain.
Alexander’s eyes turned red. Mama and Maya exchanged glances. They understood what was happening.
Alexander didn’t wait for any of their statements. He began kicking each door open.
"Serena!" He screamed as each door was knocked open by his violent kicks..
It wasn’t until he kicked the last door at the end of the corridor did he find Serena.
She was kneeling, her back open while blood covered a considerable amount of her back. Her forehead glistened with sweat and her knuckles had turned pale from being folded tightly.
Grant, on being interrupted snapped his head to who had interrupted him and was about to curse at the person before but he stood straight. He had recognized Alexander.
"Mr-Mr. Blackwood." He stuttered. Seeing the whip in his hands, he threw it to the floor.
Maya, on the other hand, covered her mouth in shock. She was surprised by the sheer level of cruelty displayed by a father. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"Serena," she called out softly as she rushed to her. She held Serena who was barely breathing in her arms. Her shoulders trembled as tears fell from her eyes.
Alexander’s eyes remained on Serena. He folded his palms into fists so much that his knuckles turned pale.
"Mr. Blackwood, what brings you to my humble abode? Are you here to celebrate with me as well?" Grant was unaware about the trouble he had just landed in as he continued blabbering.
"Take her to her room, and tend to her injuries. After I deal with him, we will take her to the hospital." Alexander instructed.
Maya nodded. Helped with Mama, they picked Serena who winched at every movement.
Realization finally dawned on Grant. Alexander wasn’t here for him, but for his daughter. But since when was his daughter affiliated with Alexander Blackwood?
Suddenly, he felt a burning gaze on him and he cleared his throat, before slowly raising his head to stare at Alexander.
"Mr. Blackwood... I—"
"You hurt Serena." Alexander cut in calmly. He was calm—too calm—and it felt like the calm before the storm.
"Mr. Blackwood, you have misunderstood. I was only dealing with my daughter according to the family rules." Grant explained carefully. But what he didn’t understand was that the more he explained, the more Alexander’s anger peaked.
Alexander chuckled. "You are hosting a party, aren’t you?" He asked innocently.
The unsuspecting Grant nodded.
"Not bad. Why don’t you introduce me to your guests?" Alexander tilted his head as he probed.
Grant beamed. "Mr. Blackwood, why... why would you want to meet my guests?" Although he said this, he was more than eager for Alexander to make an appearance.
He was already thinking about how people would respect him once they found out that he was affiliated with Alexander Blackwood. The respect, the honor which would come with it. His imagination was already working at full speed.
"For respect." Alexander had already seen through his expression, so he gave such a reply. He only needed the fish to catch the bait.
"Then, I’ll take you to the hall. My wife is already there." Grant agreed without batting an eyelid.
Alexander’s lips curved up slowly. ’How could Serena have such a gullible father?’ He thought to himself. ’But she didn’t need to worry. I’d avenge her tonight!’
"Then, I’d request Mr. Wilson to lead the road." Alexander smiled, but the smile didn’t reach his eyes. Unfortunately, Grant wasn’t assertive and he couldn’t see the dangerous look in Alexander’s eyes.
