On Hiatus: God's Personal Reasons-Chapter 184: #God Trainer Yu Il-Shin Returns (2)
Chapter 184: #God Trainer Yu Il-Shin Returns (2)
I never expected to encounter Choi Bong-Shik here! My first impression of him was that of a hooligan, but he grew on me! He was also good with kids, as I’d seen through Yi-Shin’s memory.
“Bong-Shik!” I excitedly called out to him, but did he not hear me?
“...Bong-Shik?”
“I-I'm Steve Choi!”
“Nah, you're Bong-Shik.”
“Ack! Ruler of Space!”
Tzzz!
The space around him began to distort.
Swoosh!
He disappeared in the blink of an eye.
“Bong-Shik! Where are you off to?!”
***
After teleporting away, Choi Bong-Shik tried to catch his breath..
“Bong-Shik! Where are you off to?!”
He trembled when Yu Il-Shin called after him.
Why is that bastard here?!
Even now, he still dreamed of Yu Il-Shin massacring monsters and juggling their heads in Dysneiland! He woke up in a cold sweat every time!
Didn’t he go missing?! When did he return?! Why did he come to the training room... No way! Is he here for me?!
Choi Bong-Shik anxiously bit his nails.
Back when he was confined at the America Hunter Association, he’d confessed everything he knew about Yu Il-Shin. However, the information wasn’t of much value since he had only just met the man.
Above all, having experienced what a scumbag Yu Il-Shin was, Choi Bong-Shik didn’t even doubt he’d come for his head!
“Bong-Shik, look. The jerk who tried to kill you is just a head now! Hilarious, isn’t it? Kekeke!”
That Yu Il-Shin who killed the lion monster at Dysneiland had horns on his head. Maybe, he was the devil himself!
Biting his lips, Choi Bong-Shik fidgeted with the ring case in his pocket.
Ugh, I wanted to confess to that girl today!
Indeed, he was in the training room that day solely to confess his feelings. He was a genius and had no need for training.
***
On the day Choi Bong-Shik returned to the Korea Hunter Association to report his intensive investigation...
“Is the training room here that great?”
“Uh-huh. I’m sure you’ll like it, Xu Zhu! You should train diligently after being away for so long.”
“Let's go have spicy rice cakes after training~ Hades~ You'll join us too, right?”
“If you wish, Master.”
A group of chattering teenage girls—and for some reason, a summoned creature—walked past him. His eyes widened in surprise upon recognizing someone from the group.
T-that girl!
One of the teenage girls had two buns atop her head, highlighting her cuteness and innocence. She was the same girl from the hospital—his ideal type, Xu Zhu! Like a teenage boy falling in love for the first time, his heart pounded loudly in his ears. After Yu Il-Shin interrupted them, he resigned himself to fate, believing he’d never see her again—but what a coincidence! It must be destiny!
“Wow, Xu Zhu. You're incredible. You're much stronger now!”
“Hehehe. This is nothing! Mi-Ri, add more weights! Girls are all about muscles! Hyaaa!”
Choi Bong-Shik grew more excited as he watched Xu Zhu lift weights in secret. Ah, that slender figure was pumping five tonnes of barbells so easily! Was this the famous gap moe[1] he’d been hearing about? Beautiful!
“Aunty! Please give us ten servings of spicy rice cakes, with lots of noodles~!”
“Gosh, Xu Zhu! Isn't that too much for the three of us?”
“What are you talking about, Myeong-Ji? That’s for me. Go ahead and make your order.”
Sluuurp! Chomp chomp!
As he stole glances at Xu Zhu inhaling the spicy rice cakes like a vacuum cleaner, his face turned as red as the sauce in her food.
Gosh, look at her eating so happily with that small mouth of hers! I wish I’m those rice cakes...
Choi Bong-Shik’s love burned passionately, and that was how he started to follow Xu Zhu. (Guys, this is stalker behavior. Don’t follow in his footsteps).
That’s it, I’m going to confess to her.
The fact that Xu Zhu was still in her teens concerned him. However, being the gentleman that he was, he was confident and willing to wait for her until she came of age.
Chatter—
Mustering his courage, Choi Bong-Shik prepared to approach Xu Zhu as she headed home. Suddenly, someone grabbed his shoulders from behind.
“What?”
He turned around and was startled to see a scrawny old man in long, black robes and wielding a scythe.
“Hyii! A grim reaper!” he screamed and collapsed like a twist-jointed doll.
The old man reached out to Choi Bong-Shik, who had huge, dark circles under his eyes.
“Aaargh!”
Choi Bong-Shik was so terrified that he peed his pants.
With those black lips, the old man spoke, “Apparently, an insect has been following my granddaughter for the last few days! You blond hooligan! How dare you!”
Choi Bong-Shik suddenly realized who this old man was—Necromancer Ko Sa-Deuk, head of Korea’s leading guild, Immortal Guild. And his granddaughter, Ko Myeong-Ji, was a friend of his beloved Xu Zhu.
“No! You misunderstood! I’m following the cute and innocent Ms. Xu Zhu! I’m not interested in your granddaughter!” Choi Bong-Shik desperately explained.
“What?! Are you saying that my granddaughter isn’t good enough?! I raised her like a precious treasure!” Ko Sa-Deuk threw a fit instead, glaring at him like a maniac.
The fuck does this old man want?!
“You came just in time, Stalker! I’m kinda pissed because Lilith is stuck in the mountains! Summon Yaksha Soldiers!”
Swoosh swoosh!
The undead in Yaksha masks, like grim reapers, appeared and surrounded Choi Bong-Shik.
“Kekeke! You’ll become one of them soon!”
“Aaaargh! This crazy old man! Save me!”
Baaaam!
“Uuooorgh!”
The crazy grim reaper left Choi Bong-Shik with a three-week injury, but the setback did not deter his love for Xu Zhu. Discharged ahead of schedule, he returned to the Hunter Association to see his beloved once more. He was determined to confess to her today.
Xu Zhu was on the way home after training.
“Mi-Ri, don’t worry too much. Nothing will happen to Mr. Yu! Didn’t he single-handedly destroy the infamous Three Martial Association?”
Xu Zhu was comforting her friend. How nice of her.
“Yep, my grandfather often said that kind of thing happens when exploring dungeons,” said the petite girl, Ko Myeong-Ji.
Choi Bong-Shik stiffened at the sight of her. He carefully looked around to see if that deranged old man was in the vicinity.
Good, he’s not around. Well, there’s no way a guild leader of his status would follow his granddaughter around all day.
Choi Bong-Shik renewed his resolve to confess to Xu Zhu, and decided to approach her.
Just then, someone poked him in the waist, making him shudder.
Was it that crazy old man?! He turned around anxiously, but he didn’t see anyone around. When he grew confused, he heard a soft-spoken female voice.
“Hey.”
Choi Bong-Shik instinctively looked down. It was a petite girl wearing a baseball cap that concealed her face.
“Who are you? Why are you following my younger sister?”
Who is she referring to?
As if this girl’s younger sister would be among Xu Zhu’s group of friends! She looked to be in her mid-teens at most!
“Hehehe! Guys, I bought a doll, do you want to see it?”
He took a quick glance and saw a group of elementary school girls walking past them.

Choi Bong-Shik scoffed, playfully tapping on the girl’s head. “Little Girl, do I look like a lolicon going around hitting on elementary school girls? Get out of my way now, shoo.”
“Little...girl?”
All of the sudden, he felt a chill run down his spine.
“You son of a bitch...” he took off her baseball cap.
Choi Bong-Shik was stunned, as her face looked strangely familiar. “Y-you’re?”
Glaring at him, the petite girl spoke with her red lips, “Die for ten seconds.”
“Koff!” Choi Bong-Shik collapsed to the ground, clutching his heart as if his name had been written in a certain notebook.
“Huh?! He’s down!”
“Quick! Call the ambulance!”
The ambulance sirens wailed in the distance. As he was being carried on a stretcher, he had an illusion of his childhood dog—a border collie named Lass. It barked anxiously at him from the afterworld, begging him not to cross over.
Finally, he realized the identity of the petite girl. That crazy bitch was famous for her bad temperament! Though unofficial, she was treated like an SS-rank Hunter, and was possibly the strongest Hunter in Korea: Sung Mi-Na.
When Choi Bong-Shik woke up in the emergency room again, he fell into despair.
“Argh! Dear god!” How could god make him suffer like this?! But he refused to give up. “I shall become the greatest Hunter in the world! I won’t give up so easily!”
Even if the grim reaper and that crazy bitch got in the way, he was determined to win this love.
My opportunity will surely come!
From that day on, Choi Bong-Shik waited for the day when Ko Sa-Deuk and Sung Mi-Na were dispatched on a dungeon raid.
Finally, the day has come!
“Bong-Shik!”
...Along with the third obstacle, one as huge as the Berlin Wall, incomparable to the previous two!
“Argh!” Choi Bong-Shik tore his hair out, falling into despair.
But where am I?
He was so shocked by the sight of Yu Il-Shin that he teleported away without any destination in mind.
Whiiing!
Then, he realized he was high above ground, with Seoul stretching out beneath his feet. He was on top of L Tower, the tallest building in South Korea. Wasn’t this ten kilometers away from the Hunter Association building? This was the farthest he’d traveled with his skill!
Sweeping back his gorgeous blond hair, Choi Bong-Shik smirked to himself. “Phew. Did I just make another breakthrough in a moment of crisis? My own talents scare me sometimes!”
Overcoming limitations was the mark of a hero. Surely, he’d become the greatest Hunter in the world in no time!
“Hahaha! Hahahaha!”
Swoosh!
“Bong-Shik, what are you doing here?”
A voice came from behind him, killing his laughter. Choi Bong-Shik turned around, shivering the whole time. A man in a black helmet looked down from the spire of the building.
“Oh, that view’s great here.”
“W-who...?”
“You can’t recognize me with the helmet on? It’s me, Bong-Shik.” The man lifted his visor, revealing his face. ’
It’s really him!
Choi Bong-Shik fell to the ground, trembling.
He was Yi-Shin, the guy who’d shown up at his S-rank appointment ceremony! Due to a glitch, Yi-Shin’s mana-measuring bracelet exploded. But after seeing his fight, Choi Bong-Shik knew he was the monster of monsters!
“What’s wrong, Bong-Shik? Are you hurt somewhere?” Yu Il-Shin reached out to him.
“Aaargh! Someone, save me!”
Swoosh!
Screaming, Choi Bong-Shik teleported away once more.
Left alone on the spire, Yu Il-Shin scratched his head. “Why are you running away from me, Bong-Shik?”
He couldn’t understand Choi Bong-Shik’s actions at all. Yu Il-Shin was just glad to see Choi Bong-Shik, his follower and fellow pushover, after a long time.
Does he have to be so scared...?
“It just makes me want to go after you more.”
A devilish grin appeared on Yu Il-Shin’s face.
“Skill sharing, Choi Bong-Shik’s Ruler of Space.”
Swoosh!
The cat-and-mouse game between a malevolent god and his follower began.
