OMG!!! My Crippled Husband is a Hot, Powerful CEO-Chapter 86 - Let me talk to the woman
Chapter 86: Chapter 86 - Let me talk to the woman
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy, when skies are gray, you never know dear, how much I love you, please don’t take, my sunshine away."
Alex calmly repeated the song a couple of times until the crashing of items stopped. He continued until he heard the caregiver’s voice.
"It’s alright, sir, she’s sleeping now."
Alex was relieved. Whenever Dion was this enraged, she would usually sleep it off after hearing the calming song. "Let me talk to the woman," Alex requested seriously.
He considered making her stay with Dion until the wedding was over, but the caregiver informed him,
"She left earlier."
Alex was skeptical about her sudden departure, having in mind to check the surveillance cameras later.
"Send me everything you have on her," he instructed the caregiver, who seemed to have a rehearsed response.
"Sir, Dion insisted she was the one who saved her. They seemed to get along, even sharing a meal together, but she left after receiving a call, and that’s when Dion called you."
Alex inquired, "Does this mysterious woman have a name?"
The caregiver hesitated before replying, "I’m very sorry, sir, but only Dion knows that."
Feeling uneasy, Alex decided to investigate this woman further. "Gather all the information you can when she shows up again."
It had been long since he checked the surveillance cameras there and tried to do so only to realize there had been a fault.
"Alright, sir," the caregiver responded before ending the call. Alex returned to the dining table, disappointed to find it empty.
Realizing he had been on the phone for almost an hour, he knew Joanna must have grown tired of waiting for him.
He didn’t excuse himself and failed to communicate the order he wanted.
Should he knock on her door? After considering the inconvenience of his wheelchair, he decided against it and opted to send a text message instead.
’Sorry, I should have excused myself. Is it possible to place my order now?’ he texted. Waiting for a response, he realized Joanna might be asleep by now.
He almost canceled the message, typing on his phone. ’You know what? Forget it,’ but then received a notification from her.
’Sure, what do you want?’ Joanna replied promptly.
’Will eggs benedict be too much?’ he asked. Joanna assured him, ’Sure. It will be ready before you wake up.’
Alex smiled and then asked, ’And my apology? Is it accepted?’
In Joanna’s room, she was initially confused but upon rereading the text, she responded, ’Is it about excusing yourself? Well, you owe me no explanation, remember?’
Joanna cried and was about to give in to sleep before seeing the notification of the text message.
Initially, she debated whether to respond, but she reminded herself that their relationship was strictly business, and emotions were off-limits.
Observing Alex’s abrupt departure from the table after a phone call, she realized she held no significance to him.
It was best for both of them if she accepted this reality and played her role accordingly.
Alex’s brows furrowed as he read Joanna’s response, sensing something amiss but unable to pinpoint it. "Thanks," he replied, though sleep eluded him.
He couldn’t shake off the curiosity about the woman who had saved Dion.
Despite his discomfort around women, he found himself at ease with Joanna, even enduring Violet’s presence because of her.
However, he couldn’t shake off his apprehension about the mysterious woman who had rescued Dion.
What if he found her unappealing? Nevertheless, he had made a commitment, and he would honor it, no matter what.
Struggling to sleep, Alex turned to his laptop, working until he drifted off in the early hours of the morning.
Recalling the night he had shared a room with Joanna at the Baker’s mansion, he remembered the difficulty he had falling asleep, but once he did, it was a deep slumber.
Unfortunately, urgent matters demanded his attention, forcing him to depart earlier than planned.
The next morning, Alex woke up with the laptop on his lap. Putting it away, he felt strangely excited for breakfast and quickly got ready for work.
As he opened the door, the delicious scent greeted him, but Joanna was not there as usual.
"Betty, where’s my wife?" Alex asked, a serious expression on his face. Betty smiled, though it seemed forced.
"She left early after preparing breakfast for you," Betty replied.
"Did she eat?" Alex inquired, noticing the worry lines on his face. Betty shook her head,
"No, she took her portion to the office."
Alex felt a pang of sadness but then remembered that Joanna had mentioned needing to finish some work at the office before the wedding.
He relaxed and proceeded to finish his meal, surprised by the generous portion Joanna had prepared. Betty’s expression revealed her astonishment, though she remained silent.
Upon seeing this, Alex became worried about the timing of the divorce. What would happen to all these delicious dishes?
He suddenly remembered his late mother’s belongings, where the recipes were kept. If he could retrieve them and give them to the chef, he could continue to enjoy the meals even after the divorce.
Upon arriving at the office, Aiden was there again. "Alex, I’m sorry for not informing you," he said.
"It’s not the first time," Alex replied nonchalantly. Aiden then spoke directly,
"About the Salvador role. I thought about it all night, but unfortunately, I can’t take it."
Alex stared at him intently. "I’m not asking for your permission. It’s an order. If anyone asks, tell them you are him."
Aiden understood the underlying motive for Alex’s actions. If he handled the inquiries about Salvadore well, he wouldn’t have to accept the role.
Therefore, he decided to come up with a valid excuse for why they wouldn’t be able to see Salvadore. "I understand. I’ll talk to you later."
Alex immersed himself in his work, not responding to anything else. During lunchtime, he had food delivered to Joanna and received a response from Jack.
However, there was no mention of their return home.
Concerned, Alex tried calling Joanna, but her phone was switched off. He then tried Jack’s number, only to hear the automated message indicating that the phone was also off. Panic set in.
