Chapter 213: Chapter 213 - Daddy, I Want to Marry Mommy

"I’m glad to sign up for this even without knowing," Violet said excitedly as a girl around the age of eight approached her. "They showed me your photo. You are my mother, and my name is Violet," she said excitedly. Violet was not surprised since she signed up for it.

Warmly, she embraced the girl, their joy mirroring each other’s. Other children came around their sponsors, mentioning names and telling them all that they had been doing.

The most interesting part was when a boy of around ten walked to grandpa confidently and introduced himself. "Please call me Aristotle. You are my father."

Grandpa stared at Alex with a confused expression as Alex explained, "I used a part of your allowance to sponsor him." It took time for grandpa to understand how things were done in this particular orphanage, but as soon as he did, he was upset. Not with the fact that Alex touched his money without permission but rather for keeping it a secret.

"Why did you not tell me about it all this while? I would have sponsored a lot more." Alex smiled. "It’s meant to be a secret, and there are lots of sponsors waiting on the list."

"I will sponsor too," Dion said. Alex playfully pinched her cheek. "Of course, you will." Logan was so emotional and guilty in his wheelchair; he couldn’t find the courage to look Alex in the eyes.

"I hated you for so long for the wrong reason," he confessed. "Alex, why didn’t you tell me? I would have been good." Alex lowered himself and held his hand. "You don’t have to know to be good. The most important thing is for everything you do to come from your heart."

Logan smiled, recalling when they used to be kids. This was how they used to be before the fire that burned their love. "Thank you. I promise to be a better person, and as soon as you unfreeze my assets, I will sponsor too."

"He unfroze your assets before the welcome party," grandpa chimed. Logan was stunned. "He did?" He was staring at Alex, and the latter nodded in confirmation. Logan knew that for the rest of his life, he would never be able to get over the guilt.

A boy of around the age of four years embraced Joanna by the legs. "Mommy, I am John." Joanna was so elated; she lifted the boy in her arms. He was so cute and well-mannered, but Alex was worried about the weight of the child, though he did not immediately stop her.

"It’s good to finally see you. So, what have you been doing all day?" Joanna asked, and the boy began to excitedly tell her. "Eating, playing, and counting." Everyone laughed, but when they looked at Alex, they saw him differently.

"Alex, the media has it wrong about Salvatore. Won’t you clear your name?" Violet was ready to give the necessary support, but Alex shook his head. "It’s better this way. When they think I’m bad, they would be afraid of me, but people take advantage of kindness."

"No wonder you kept it all to yourself," Logan murmured, understanding that seeing Alex as bad was exactly how Alex wanted to be seen.

They spent two weeks there, helping to take care of the kids and bonding with those under their sponsorship. When it was time to return, grandpa refused to go back. "This is where I belong. I have a reason to live now and would stay to impact these kids."

His reason was legit, so no one tried to discourage him. "I will visit you once every month," Dion promised him, kissing him on the cheek as they left.

Grandpa happily waved at them, knowing this was the right decision. This ends his life of loneliness and the start of a zeal to live. From today, he would be here to watch and guide these children grow, just as he did with his grandchildren, Alex, and Logan.

Dion had been raised away from Alex, which subtracted her from the equation.

Five months later, Joan woke up sweating from sleep and with deep pain as a shrill tore from her throat, waking Alex in the process.

The bed was wet, and so was Joanna’s nightie. "Let me guess, your water broke?" Alex was more nervous than he ever was in his life.

Joanna was nodding her head as the pain continued to sear through her body. Alex recalled the doctor’s warning for Joan not to undergo vaginal birth, meaning they had to get to the hospital early.

Luckily, they had the bags packed and loaded into the car a week ahead, so Alex put on casual clothes quickly and carried her to the hospital.

In the car, he called the doctor to prepare everything needed for Joanna’s delivery, so as soon as he reached, Joanna was wheeled to the surgical theatre.

He waited with his heart in his throat as he called Monica and Violet to inform them.

Within a few minutes, Monica arrived with Violet and Aiden in tow. Dion came later with Logan in a wheelchair, but he was able to stand on his own and was looking more handsome than before.

The resemblance between the brothers became so clear that Violet teased him. "Logan, you should give us a recipe of the food you have been eating. Now you look a lot like your brother."

"Sisi has been taking good care of me, ensuring I eat more veggies and fruits. Oh, she even stopped me from taking alcohol." Alex smiled at Dion. "Well done."

In a way, he regretted keeping Dion away from the family, feeling that Logan would not have been as reckless as he was before. But then, what about Dion’s mental illness? It could have driven Logan nuts.

Therefore, Alex convinced himself that he did the right thing. Logan was indeed looking better and could take steps of his own accord.

Also, he hadn’t had any woman for months, which deserved a medal.

Their chats took their mind away from the time until the doctor opened the emergency door. "Congratulations, Alexander King. You have triplets, two boys and a girl. Your wife needs a lot of rest."

"I’m an aunt," Dion was jumping from excitement as Joanna was moved to the King’s special ward, spacious enough for everybody.

Within a short time, her ward was flooded with varieties of flowers and all the beautiful things she could think about.

"Thank you for bringing so much joy to the family," Alex kissed the top of her head as he took pictures of the triplets, sending them to grandpa.

The old man was already on his way to announce the good news to the world.

"They look just like the two of you," Violet observed. Alex smiled proudly. "They are so beautiful." His eyes were filled with tears of joy as he lifted them in his arms. Joan took a picture of them, using it as her screen saver.

It was a moment of celebration, and the triplets were announced to the world after grandpa’s arrival, before his return to Asia.

Happiness settled with the family and friends until four years passed.

Alex was feeding the triplets their breakfast as Joan was making their meal. Usually, she would make something healthy for the triplets before making her and Alex’s meal.

As soon as she dropped the food on the table, the eldest among the boys, Alec, said something that made them laugh.

"Daddy, I want to marry mommy." "No, I will marry mommy," the second oldest, Arlo expressed. Alex asked them, "Why do you want to marry mommy?"

"Because she’s beautiful, and she takes good care of us. Her food is delicious too. Yummy," Alec used the plate to cover his face as the youngest, Juanita countered. "I want to marry daddy because he’s caring, buys mommy a lot of flowers, takes us to the park, reads our bedtime story, and plays with us."

The parents were happy, but Alex corrected them. "Thank you all for showing appreciation, but neither of you can marry mommy or daddy." The triplets looked upset at this moment, pushing their plates away as Alex explained.

"Number one, you are below the legal age of marriage, and number two, your mother is my wife, and I am her husband. What God has joined together, let no man put asunder. You three would find your spouses in the future."

"And she would be just like mommy," Arlo said. Alex agreed. "Yes, just like mommy." "And he would be just like daddy," Juanita said. Joanna agreed. "Yes, just like daddy."

The atmosphere was one of excitement as Joanna watched Alex teach and play with the kids, awarding him in her heart as the best father in the world.

She went to shower but saw rose petals everywhere with a jewelry box. Alex ensured to spoil her with gifts, making her heart flutter, as if they were courting. ƒrēenovelkiss.com

On the gift, he wrote. "For my darling wife. Thank you for all you do." Joanna rushed downstairs and seeing Juanita on one side of Alex’s chest and Arlo and Alec on the other side on the sofa, she bent over and kissed him on the lips, murmuring, "I love you so much."
