Chapter 140: Yu Xi vs Jian Rui

Jian Rui tossed the gloves aside and advanced, his stance intimidating, but Yu Xi stood his ground, unflinching.

"Let me ask you something," Jian Rui said, his voice like steel. "How far are you willing to go for him?"

Yu Xi didn’t hesitate. "To hell and back."

Jian Rui nodded, his eyes flickering away for a moment. Then, without warning, he unleashed his psychic power.

Yu Xi reacted instantly, his aura flaring. The air in the training room crackled with tension, vibrating with the hum of psychic energy. Jian Rui moved with the sharpness of experience, his strikes precise, his speed honed by years of relentless combat. Yu Xi met him head-on, the clash of their wills shaking the very walls around them.

His emerald eyes blazed, his aura surging with raw, untamed power that eclipsed Jian Rui’s rank. Though inexperienced, his energy was primal, unrefined, yet devastating in its intensity. At first, Jian Rui treated the fight like a game, weaving past Yu Xi’s strikes with fluid grace, his movements sharp and controlled. But the longer the battle raged, the more he realized Yu Xi was no ordinary opponent. Each blow carried a weight that demanded respect, each surge of emerald light forced him to adjust, to abandon his casual rhythm and take the fight seriously.

Their clash grew so violent that the reinforced window behind them shattered, shards scattering like stars as they crashed into the lounging area below. Mercenaries leapt to their feet, their jeers and shouts filling the air, eager to witness the rare spectacle of Jian Rui engaged in a fight.

Yu Xi wiped blood from the corner of his lip with the back of his hand, sneering as his chest heaved. His blood boiled, his aura flaring wildly, emerald light spilling across the room and casting jagged shadows against the walls. It was as if the beast buried deep within him had finally clawed its way free.

Jian Rui walked forward slowly, his gaze locked on Yu Xi, every step deliberate, his presence heavy. He raised one hand, gesturing with calm authority, inviting the next attack.

The crowd parted instinctively, forming a circle around them, their voices rising in excitement.

Yu Xi’s psychic power erupted in a torrent, emerald waves crashing forward like a storm unleashed. The air shimmered with raw energy, the force of it rattling the walls and splintering tables as if the room itself were caught in the clash. Jian Rui retaliated instantly, his aura slicing through the air like blades, sharp and merciless. The collision of their powers shook the room, vibrations humming through the reinforced steel.

In the chaos, Yu Xi’s shirt tore, fabric ripping to reveal the scars carved across his back. He didn’t falter, didn’t care. His focus was absolute, emerald light blazing brighter, pressing Jian Rui back step by step.

Then the doors burst open. Jian Ci rushed in, breathless, his expression tight with alarm. He froze at the sight—Yu Xi overpowering Jian Rui, emerald light forcing the elder brother into retreat.

"Yu Xi!" Jian Ci’s voice cut through the roar like a blade.

At once, Yu Xi restrained his power, forcing the beast back into its cage. The emerald glow dimmed, his aura collapsing inward, leaving only the echo of its fury.

But Jian Rui, shameless and relentless, seized the moment. His psychic wave surged forward, brutal and unyielding. It struck Yu Xi with crushing force, hurling him across the room.

Yu Xi slammed into the corner of a table, his back colliding with a sickening crack that made every mercenary wince. Silence fell for a heartbeat, the sound of splintering wood echoing in the aftermath, the tension thick enough to choke.

Yu Xi lay sprawled across the fractured floor, his emerald eyes still burning faintly, defiance refusing to die even as pain coursed through his body. Jian Rui stood tall above him, aura simmering like molten steel, his chest rising and falling with the weight of his fury.

Jian Ci rushed in, panic etched across his face. He dropped to Yu Xi’s side, pulling him up with urgency. His glare shot toward Jian Rui, sharp and unyielding, before he wrapped an arm around Yu Xi’s waist and guided him out of the room toward the medical bay.

Jian Rui’s voice thundered behind them, his chest heaving. "What are you looking at? Get back to work!" The mercenaries scattered instantly, their discipline overriding curiosity.

Amelia burst into the room, her eyes wide as she took in the wreckage. "What’s going on?" she demanded.

Jian Rui wiped sweat from his forehead, his expression grim. He knew he had gone too far, but in his mind, his brother was his duty. If he couldn’t even overpower Yu Xi now, how could he protect Jian Ci in the future, especially if Yu Xi ever decided he was done playing nice and tried to take Jian Ci by force? With Eros backing Yu Xi, the situation was a recipe for disaster.

"I just lost it," Jian Rui muttered.

Amelia’s voice rose, incredulous. "Just lost it? You have never lost it, not even when that bastard treated you like trash. What the hell is going on?"

"Don’t worry about it," Jian Rui said coldly, turning away. His steps were heavy as he headed toward the medical bay, the storm inside him far from settled.

Jian Ci stood with his arms crossed, impatience radiating from him as he watched Yu Xi being treated. The bruise across Yu Xi’s ribs looked far worse than it truly was, but the sight of it made Jian Ci’s blood boil. Yu Xi, sensing the storm brewing in his eyes, gave a faint smile. "Ci, I am fine."

"I don’t fucking get it," Jian Ci snapped, his voice sharp with frustration. "Why is he acting like that? He is always restrained, but today he beat you like this."

Yu Xi shook his head gently. "It was just a spur that went too far. Don’t think too much."

"Why are you defending him?" Jian Ci’s anger flared hotter. He had been kept here training endlessly, as if his life depended on it, and this situation only added fuel to his fury. He couldn’t understand what Jian Rui was thinking, what madness had driven him to such extremes.

The door slid open, and Jian Rui entered, his expression calmer now. Jian Ci immediately stepped forward, blocking his path. "Do you think you should be here?"

"I came to apologize," Jian Rui said evenly. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Jian Ci sneered. "Apologize? Look at that bruise. Do you think an apology alone is enough?"

Jian Rui regarded his brother with a cold detachment, as though he were nothing more than a toothless dog barking loudly.

Yu Xi, still seated, raised his voice softly but firmly. "Ci, let it go."

The words hung in the air, heavy with tension, as Jian Ci’s glare burned into Jian Rui, unwilling to yield.
