Noble Pampering: Demon CEO's Relentless Entanglement-Chapter 813 - 809: How He Spent These Four Years
I thought the meal would pass in a harmonious atmosphere filled with laughter. Unexpectedly, halfway through, an unexpected guest arrived.
"Miss Irene, you, you’re back too?" Nanny Garcia quickly pulled open her chair and stood up, heading toward the dining room door.
Irene Morton’s appearance was quite unexpected.
Asher Land slightly furrowed his brow.
"Sister Sophie, it’s really been a long time." The first person Irene greeted wasn’t Nanny Garcia, nor was it Asher Land. It was actually me?
Sophie Smith was somewhat puzzled. Reasonably speaking, in this house full of people, Irene should least favor herself.
"Irene, you..." Sophie found herself wanting to act confused at this moment, "When did you come back here? I, I didn’t know."
However, she wasn’t at all good at pretending to be confused. Even a wide-eyed observer could immediately sense her uneasiness.
"Oh, Sister Sophie, it seems Brother Asher has never mentioned me to you at all." Irene laughed cheerfully, showing no discernable clues, as she approached the dining table, sitting down casually without any sense of alienation.
"Nanny Garcia, could you get me a set of dinnerware, I just happened to not have eaten, so I’ll join you." Irene blinked her eyes, looked at Asher’s unwelcoming face, yet remained serene.
"Brother Asher, I say, I’m just here for a meal, do you really have to look as if you want to murder me?"
Ha, Irene finally understood why he hasn’t been home often lately. It turns out he’s been living quite freely and comfortably with Sophie Smith...
"Sister Sophie, did Brother Asher really not mention me at all?" Irene was somewhat relentless.
"Oh, ..." Sophie was in a dilemma. If she said he did mention her, it would contradict what she said earlier. If she said he didn’t, would Irene be upset with Asher? After all, Sophie knew a thing or two about Irene’s temper.
"Are you here to eat or to inquire?" Asher stayed composed as he picked a dish with his chopsticks and placed it in his bowl, his expression indifferent.
"Who said you can’t talk while eating?" Irene snorted a couple of times, "Honestly, Brother Asher, you’re quite something, finding Sister Sophie in Eastern City and yet not mentioning my name in front of her. How would she know what you’ve been through these past four years if you don’t bring me up?"
Irene implied meaningfully, but Sophie found it utterly confusing.
How has Asher Land been these past four years?
Truthfully, Sophie really wanted to know.
But in the short time she spent with Asher, she’d tried subtly probing but his responses were either silence or just perfunctory remarks.
After a few attempts, she dared not ask anymore.
Because that was, after all, something he was unwilling to speak of.
"Sister Sophie, you and Brother Asher must have been together for quite some time, right? He hasn’t been home much during this period."
Home much?
"Are you... living together?" Sophie tried to keep her tone calm.
"Yes, for the past four years, we’ve been living together." Irene’s mouth curved into a smile that made her seem blissfully happy.
Irene’s words undoubtedly further ignited the deepest curiosity within her.
She thought that in those missed four years between them, there must be a lot of stories to tell.
