Noble Pampering: Demon CEO's Relentless Entanglement-Chapter 618 - 614 A One-Month Agreement (Part 1)
Sophie Smith listened as Eva Miller talked about Oliver Johnson.
But the more she listened, the more her heart ached. He was once such a vibrant man, but now he has to spend such a long time in a cage without daylight.
She hung her head, her eyes reddened, and softly exhaled a breath.
"Sophie, don’t be sad. Brother Johnson has repeatedly urged me to stay with you," Eva Miller lifted the corners of her lips, but there was a touch of helplessness, "Actually, what Brother Johnson is most worried about is you."
"Eva, I really want to see him..."
"Hmm, when you return to Eastern City, we’ll go together, okay?"
Sophie Smith nodded solemnly. She definitely has to hurry back to Eastern City, she must.
...
The streets here are filled with a strong sense of nostalgia, with an old big clock, red telephone booths, young people getting around with bicycles. Everything looks so peaceful, the pace of life is slow, and walking here slows one’s heart down as well.
Sophie Smith and Eva Miller sat in a street-side open-air café, ordered two cups of coffee, and started chatting slowly.
She had nothing to hide from Eva Miller; she said everything that should and shouldn’t be said.
"You mean President Land’s left hand..." Eva Miller covered her mouth, almost speechless.
Yesterday, she hadn’t noticed anything wrong with Asher Land’s hand, maybe he concealed it too well. No wonder he said yesterday he couldn’t drive.
Sophie Smith’s gaze dimmed a bit. Just thinking about his left hand really pained her.
"In my eyes, President Land is definitely an extremely proud man. So now that his left arm is disabled, did he..." Eva Miller hesitated.
"Did what?" Sophie Smith chuckled softly, "Inferiority? Sadness? Or torment?"
Sophie Smith listed off several words, each of which were what Eva Miller wanted to ask, and she nodded.
"He might feel all of that, but he has never spoken of it to me; he doesn’t want me to worry."
Eva Miller sighed, "Then what’s the matter with you and Mr. Davis?"
"Mr. Davis spent the price of two casinos to bring me back from Nathan Land."
"You were ’bought’ back by him?" Eva Miller was almost bewildered by this turn of events, "Why would President Land agree? He’s not that kind of person. Besides, he didn’t just ’buy’ you, right? You and President Land’s son were also ’bought’ back?"
"He had no choice, if I didn’t leave, his father would still target me, even target our child."
"Oh my, your relationship is really not easy." Eva Miller stirred the coffee in her cup, repeatedly sighing, "This is practically earth-shattering, soul-stirring stuff. Then, how long are you going to keep going like this? It’s as if being around President Land puts your lives in danger. Wouldn’t you consider leaving him for a while, returning to Eastern City with your child for a peaceful life? Then reunite once he’s sorted things out here?"
"I don’t plan on that." Sophie Smith shook her head. "I want to be by his side always; no matter what happens, I won’t leave him."
Sophie Smith is stubborn by nature, and once she’s decided something, no one can easily change it. Eva Miller just didn’t expect that her relationship with Asher Land has reached this point.
It seems like the time she used to complain about Asher Land in front of Eva wasn’t that long ago.
