Noble Pampering: Demon CEO's Relentless Entanglement-Chapter 608 - 604: The War Between Two Men (Part 1)
Sophie Smith stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window and stretched lazily.
She glanced at the clock on the wall. Yes, it’s 10:35 PM.
She looked at her phone. No missed calls, no unread messages.
In fact, she was quite disappointed.
She walked to the desk, opened her computer, and logged into her email. Only then did she find many unread messages, which she opened one by one. Among lots of spam emails were many from Eva Miller.
Since arriving in Europe, she had changed her phone number, and with so many things going on, she hadn’t had the chance to contact Eva Miller.
Thinking about her best friend, she felt somewhat sad. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
She took out her phone and tentatively dialed Eva’s old number. Thankfully, the number hadn’t changed.
The call went through, but the other side didn’t pick up for a long time.
Sophie didn’t think too much, calling one after another.
After quite a while...
"Are you out of your mind?" came a thunderous female voice from the other end. "At the break of dawn, before the sun even rises, you’re making harassing calls nonstop, I curse you..."
"Eva, it’s Sophie." Sophie hurriedly interrupted her to prevent Eva from saying something unpleasant.
It was her oversight. There was an eight-hour time difference between here and Eastern City. Since it was about 10:30 PM here, it should be around 6:30 AM in Eastern City, and with Eva’s temperament, she wouldn’t get up before the sun is properly up.
Strange, why was there no sound from that side? Could it be Eva was too tired and fell asleep again...
Sophie looked at her phone to confirm that Eva hadn’t hung up.
"Eva..."
"Sophie, you heartless..." Eva’s voice was choked with emotion. "Where on earth did you go? Your phone number was not in service, and you didn’t reply to my emails. You just disappeared into thin air; I nearly went to the police station to report you missing..."
Eva felt more and more heartbroken, and cried her heart out over the phone.
"I’m sorry, Eva." Sophie sounded full of guilt. "I followed Asher Land to his company’s headquarters here to handle some business, so I didn’t have time to tell you..."
"Save your story, no way you didn’t even have a moment to call me. I hate you, Sophie."
Sophie’s silence made Eva feel betrayed.
"Eva,..." Sophie said in a soft voice, coaxing her, "Please forgive me this time. I won’t do it again, okay? Please?"
"Hmph!" Eva snorted coldly, her tone still high.
"Then, tell me, how can I make it up to you?"
"Wait till I return to Eastern City; I’ll let you off easy."
"No way, I can’t wait that long, I want to give you a hard time now!"
That’s too much.
"Send me your address. I’ll buy the ticket today; you wait for my grand arrival!"
That’s not good.
"And my godson? I haven’t seen him once since he was born. I want to see him, I need to see him!" Eva finished her words in one breath.
"I’ll catch some sleep first. Remember to send the address to my phone. I’ll ask my assistant to book the flights later, okay. That’s it."
"..."
Eva was getting impatient to see her, imagining how she would ’give her a piece of her mind’ once they met.
