I Merged with a Forbidden SSS-Rank Nanosuit After Being Abandoned-Chapter 94 - Takeoff!
Though confused, Koru listened immediately and pushed down on the ground. He jumped up with all his might.
Zion gritted his teeth and poured nearly all of his remaining energy into the wings on his back.
"This..." Koru shouted, eyes wide as he felt a strange force pull him up even further.
The D-ranks stopped firing their weapons for a moment, looking at them in utter disbelief and confusion.
Zion and Koru soared through the sky, quickly flying past the legion of D-ranks.
[Host, you have three percent energy remaining,] Uriel warned him.
"Prepare to land!" Zion shouted, wind blowing back his hair.
He canceled the gravity wings, the nanobots merging into his back again.
The strange force pulling Koru up disappeared instantly, sending him flying back toward the ground.
"I got it," he muttered, preparing for impact.
They collided with the ground the next second, sending massive clouds of dust into the air.
Koru quickly got back on his feet, stumbling for a second before continuing his sprint toward the ship.
"Uriel," Zion called out. "What do I need to do to connect you to the ship?"
[Host just needs to plug himself in at the control room,] Uriel replied, voice low.
"Alright," he thought, narrowing his eyes.
Several shouts echoed from the legion behind them.
"They are going for the ship!"
"Stop them!"
Zion glanced behind for a moment, watching the entire group turn around and sprint after them.
"Too late for that," he mumbled, turning back around with a smile.
They were only seconds away from reaching the ramp into the ship, while the D-ranks still had to cross dozens of yards.
"What do I do now, Zion?" Koru asked as they reached the ramp.
"Just sprint inside," Zion responded calmly, his eyes immediately scanning the massive interior of the ship. "Now where would the control room be..."
As they entered the storage hangar, several workers turned to look at them in confusion.
Koru and Zion ignored them completely, dashing further into the ship.
At the back of the hangar, their expressions turned to ones of pure disgust.
Dozens of cages lined the path, each filled with special creatures and lifeforms. Some even showed hints of intelligence, shouting out for help as they arrived.
Zion quickly jumped off Koru’s back, locking eyes with him. "Unlock the intelligent ones and have them help you block the entrance."
Koru nodded, immediately turning around and ripping through several cages holding humanoid insects.
Zion continued on, heading into a smaller corridor leading to the front of the ship.
"Any intel you can give me?" he thought, turning a corner.
[I don’t sense any strong individuals on board,] Uriel replied calmly. [And I’ll generate a map of the ship in a second.]
Zion nodded, a hint of relief flooding through him.
A holographic image popped up in his eye right away, the path leading to the control room highlighted in red.
As he ran through the ship, he passed several people, most of whom were just ordinary workers.
And those who weren’t? They were killed in a single slash.
Finally, he dashed into a massive room lined with high-tech equipment and large windows across the front.
[This is it,] Uriel’s voice echoed through his mind. [Take any cable from here and plug it into your body.]
"Alright," Zion said, dashing forward.
As he ran through the equipment, his eyes caught the glint of a cable.
"Here," he thought, crouching down.
He pulled the cable up and jammed it into his arm without hesitation.
[Taking control over ship now...] Uriel’s voice came out mechanically. [Estimated time: one minute.]
"A minute?" Zion said, furrowing his brows as he sat down on the ground.
Koru was still holding off the legion of D-ranks... every second it took pushed him closer to his death.
Zion tapped the floor impatiently, eyes darting between the cable and the entrance.
"Come on..." he thought.
[I’ve taken control,] Uriel suddenly called out. [I’ll be starting takeoff procedures now.]
"Good job," Zion said, jumping up and ripping the cord out of his arm.
He dashed back through the corridors, heading toward Koru without hesitation.
After turning the final corner and entering the hangar, he skidded to a halt.
The floor and walls were covered in blood.
Insectoid bodies were scattered everywhere, green blood still pooling from several bullet wounds.
But mixed among them were human bodies too—the D-ranks he had seen only minutes earlier, now crushed or stabbed, their expressions frozen in shock.
At the center of it all stood Koru.
One of his arms had crumbled away. With the remaining one, he raised a slab of metal like a shield, bullets sparking off its surface as he planted himself between the D-ranks and the insectoids.
Zion felt his teeth grind together.
[The engines are almost warm,] Uriel’s voice rang out in his mind.
Zion nodded and dashed forward, quickly joining Koru.
"We’re leaving," he said, voice tight. "Any second now."
Koru didn’t turn around, only his voice answering. "Good."
Zion picked up a gun from one of the corpses and peeked around the metal slab, catching sight of the D-ranks firing at them.
Before he even got the chance to shoot, the ship rumbled beneath his feet. A deep vibration rolled through the hangar as the thrusters under the ship roared to life.
The D-ranks still standing outside froze for a heartbeat—then panic exploded through the group.
"It’s taking off!" one of them shouted.
"Shit," another cursed, backing away in defeat.
Others weren’t willing to let go of their ship so easily.
They surged forward, sprinting for the ramp as the ship slowly lifted off the ground. A few of them made it, fingers catching the edge of the ramp.
The remaining insectoids didn’t allow that, stepping forward and piercing their heads with powerful limbs.
After all the D-ranks were cleared, the ramp slowly began to rise.
Zion and Koru stood still, their hearts pounding in their chests as the noise from outside slowly faded away.
They glanced around at the blood-soaked floor and the intelligent lifeforms still standing among the wreckage.
"What now...?" Zion muttered.
