No Trespassing! My Aloof Brother-Chapter 638 - 636: Constantly Running into Walls [3 Updates]
"Miss Bennett, the cake." After the server cut the cake, they noticed Sophia was feeling down, so they gave her the first piece.
Sophia took the cake, a cheerful smile appeared at the corner of her mouth.
Immediately, she held the cake and quickly walked over to Christopher, giggling, "Christopher, have some cake."
Christopher listened to Sophia’s voice with indifference, turned around, glanced at the cake and said coldly, "Thank you, but I don’t eat sweets."
With that, Christopher turned away, hands in his pockets, chatting casually with Xavier and the others.
In reality, Christopher doesn’t avoid sweets; he simply doesn’t eat anything handed to him by Sophia. Every time Sophia talks to him, he responds politely yet coldly, never improving a bit.
Sophia knew Christopher was lying. Last year at Maya’s birthday party, she saw Christopher eat cake. He just wouldn’t eat anything she handed to him.
So she pouted, raised her head, and stared at Christopher without blinking. She wanted to ask him why he was lying to her but feared the truth might hurt more.
She thought Christopher refused her offerings because he feared she might have tampered with them and was being cautious.
"Christopher." So she called out to him seriously, "I didn’t add anything to it. If you don’t believe me, I’ll take a bite first and show you." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
As she said this, Sophia used a fork to dig up some cake and put it in her mouth to prove her innocence.
Christopher listened to Sophia’s explanation, sighed deeply, and a slightly impatient expression appeared on his face.
If his memory serves him right, when Sophia initially pursued him, everyone advised that Sophia’s interest wouldn’t last long, that she’d lose interest in a few days.
Yet, her fleeting passion seemed to stretch on forever; she’s been pursuing him for 20 months now, 600 days, and shows no sign of giving up.
Though he’s accustomed to Sophia’s persistent pursuit, there are many times he feels annoyed, like she’s a pesky fly buzzing around him.
Beside them, Henry watched Sophia’s awkwardness and quickly laughed to ease the situation, "Sophia, I’d love some cake. May I have it?"
Sophia saw Henry break the deadlock and immediately handed over the cake, "Sure!"
Not far away, Maya watched Christopher’s dismissive attitude toward Sophia and clenched her teeth in anger. She bit her lip and fumed, "Christopher is such a jerk. What’s Sophia got to do to please him? She’s already so humble, yielding in everything, and not being a pest. Will he die if he eats her cake? Is it worth disrespecting her like this?"
Liam, standing beside, listened to Maya’s complaints, gently wrapped her waist, kissed her cheek, and said, "Little bundle of nerves, getting angry again."
"Humph! Christopher will regret missing my sister later on. I’ll talk to Dad tonight and have him arrange a matchmaking for her. I’m sure she can find someone better than Christopher."
Over a year, Maya has watched Sophia change; she’s seen Sophia stop being reckless and arrogant, even becoming somewhat insecure because of Christopher, yet he remains unappreciative. It pains Maya to see this. After all, Sophia is her cousin. How could she stand idle?
Thus, she took the knife and fork from the server and personally cut the cake, calling out Sophia’s name each time she cut a slice, asking her to help pass the cake to everyone.
When Maya reached the last large piece of cake, she loudly called out, "Sis, help me deliver this piece to Christopher, Fifth Master Scott, to thank him for attending my birthday party."
Sophia listened to Maya’s request and made a silly face at her, knowing Maya was helping her, giving her a chance to talk to Christopher.
Though considering she might face rejection again, she still obeyed Maya’s instruction, picked up the large cake, and approached Christopher. She thought if Christopher refused again, she’d just eat it herself! After all, she’s been pursuing Christopher persistently, used to rejection, and wasn’t afraid of being laughed at anymore.
As she approached Christopher, she took a deep breath and softly said, "Fifth Master Scott, thank you for attending Maya’s birthday party. Would you like to try some cake?"
This time, Sophia’s voice was even quieter, more cautious.
Christopher glanced at the cake Sophia brought over again, then at Maya, who was glaring at him from a distance. He helplessly rolled his eyes slightly and then said to Sophia, "Thank you."
This time, he accepted the cake. After taking it, he walked to the dining table, picked up a rubber knife, and cut the cake in half. The piece Maya had given him was too big; he couldn’t eat it all, especially with an upcoming dinner.
Sophia saw Christopher cut the cake into halves and quickly followed, cheerfully saying, "Christopher, I haven’t had any cake yet. Can you give me half?"
As she spoke, she picked up a plate from the table, held it with both hands, and presented it in front of Christopher.
Only then did Christopher glance at Sophia, dividing half the cake on the plate for her. He then calmly walked over to Maya, used a fork to steal the piece of chocolate she’d bitten off before and unapologetically popped it into his mouth.
Maya saw Christopher snatch her chocolate and said mischievously, "Christopher, since you ate my chocolate, you might have to agree to something for me!"
Christopher listened to Maya’s threat, replied nonchalantly, "Sweetheart, should I spit it out and return it to you, do you want it?"
Christopher understood well what Maya was hinting at.
Standing beside Christopher, Maya held a plate in one hand and a fork in the other, gently bumped him and said, "Aren’t you disgusting?"
She then bit her fork, turned her head, looked seriously at Christopher, and asked, "Fifth Master Scott, my sister transformed from a spoiled princess to a good girl for you, what more do you want? Are you really completely unaffected?"
"If you have any feelings for her, don’t pretend. Otherwise, miss this chance and it’s gone forever. My sister’s only half a year older than me, and the family is eager to marry her off!"
"Pff..." Christopher listened to Maya’s words and couldn’t help but laugh.
After the laughter, he forked a piece of mango from Maya’s plate into his mouth and said, "If you like someone, you just do. If you don’t, you don’t. What’s there to pretend? I don’t like Sophia, regardless of how good or cute she becomes, I just don’t."
"Sweetheart, oughtn’t you give me an explanation? Didn’t you say she has three minutes’ interest? I’ve been trouble for over six hundred days, how is her interest not ebbing?"
"Sigh..." Maya listened to Christopher’s questioning, sighed helplessly, and said, "Who knows what’s up with her this time? Seeing your disinterest in her, I don’t wish her to keep pursuing you either. But I couldn’t persuade her. You, in public spaces henceforth, could you give her some face?"
