Chapter 1879: Chapter 1879: Hayes Edwards Side Story (36)

"Here’s the water you wanted." He placed the bag on the table.

Grace Winter looked at him, still holding half a cookie in her hand, her eyes sparkling as if saying, "What about mine?"

Hayes Edwards took a bottle of yogurt out of his pocket and placed it in front of her, "Here’s your yogurt, such a hassle."

Grace Winter was pleasantly surprised, looking at him, "You bought yogurt for me?"

"Didn’t you say you wanted to drink it?" Hayes Edwards said impatiently, acting as if to take it back, "If you don’t want it, give it to me."

Grace Winter quickly hugged the yogurt, "I want it." Like a hamster protecting its food.

After finishing their food, the morning’s competition was nearly over, and Hayes Edwards was pulled by Fatty to escort Grace Winter back to the classroom.

Although Hayes Edwards was complaining, "Not a three-year-old child, only a few steps and you need to be escorted," he still accompanied Grace Winter to the classroom door.

Inside the classroom, only a few returned students were chatting.

Grace Winter stood at the doorway, "Hayes Edwards, I’ll wait for you after school to leave together."

"No need for you to wait." Hayes Edwards frowned and after a moment said, "Just stay in the classroom, I’ll come find you."

Grace Winter instantly smiled, "Alright, I’ll wait for you in the classroom."

By the time all the classmates returned to the classroom, twenty minutes had passed. According to the usual timetable, it should be the time for the fourth period, with five minutes until school ends.

On the podium, the teacher briefly summarized the morning’s activities and, as usual, reminded everyone to be safe before dismissing the class.

Everyone started leaving the classroom, and Grace Winter’s deskmate asked if she wanted to leave together.

Grace Winter shook her head, "No, I’m still waiting for Hayes Edwards."

Her deskmate said, "Then I’ll leave with them first."

"Alright, bye-bye."

"Bye-bye."

The classroom emptied out even more.

The school building was most lively during breaks and right after school ended. Following Hayes Edwards’s words, Grace Winter obediently sat in the classroom waiting for him, craning her neck to look outside.

There were many people outside, but Hayes Edwards was nowhere to be seen.

A few minutes later, the school building gradually quieted down, with only occasional laughter.

Grace Winter stood up from her seat and walked to the classroom door to look.

The stairs in the school building were already empty.

Grace Winter looked down, bored, playing with her fingers, thinking Hayes Edwards might have been delayed by something.

She continued to wait.

Until a teacher noticed her, "Why haven’t you gone home yet, student?"

Grace Winter stood up, "Teacher, I’m waiting for someone."

"Who are you waiting for?" The teacher walked over, "Everyone’s gone, and if you don’t leave soon, your parents might get worried."

Lower-grade students were usually picked up by their parents, so they left this school building the quickest every dismissal.

Though only a few minutes past dismissal, the school building was indeed empty.

Grace Winter was dazed, still slow to react, "Hayes Edwards said he’d come back to find me."

The teacher said, "Hurry home, the teacher will lock the doors soon."

"Okay then." Grace Winter returned to the classroom and took her backpack.

The school’s exit was already closed.

Grace Winter walked alone towards the school gate, moving slowly, and constantly turned back.

But she still didn’t see Hayes Edwards.

"Did he forget me?"

She felt a bit down, rubbed her eyes with her hand, her nose feeling sour.

Upon exiting the school building and turning past the cafeteria, she could see the school gate.
