Mother Winter shook her head with a smile. ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐จ๐ฏ๐๐.๐๐จ๐
The two mothers went into the kitchen together. Father Edwards was cleaning up, and Father Winter was also doing chores at home. When taking out the trash, they happened to bump into each other.
They chatted and naturally brought up the topic of starting elementary school.
Hayes Edwards is six years old this year, and by September, heโll need to prepare for school enrollment.
Thereโs an elementary school right across from their neighborhood, near the kindergarten.
Father Winter also thought of letting Grace Winter attend this elementary school, but sheโs still young and it will be two more years before she starts elementary school.
Father Edwards half-jokingly suggested that Hayes could check out the school for Grace first and later protect her.
The two kids had grown up together as neighbors, so naturally, the parents were happy to see them get along so well.
Once during a meal, Mother Edwards even joked that Grace should become her daughter-in-law in the future.
Three-year-old Grace Winter didnโt understand much and asked her mom in her sweet, childish voice, "Mom, whatโs a daughter-in-law?"
Her cute and soft demeanor melted everyoneโs hearts.
Of course, Hayes didnโt feel the same way.
In the evening, when the two families were having dinner together, this topic came up again.
Mother Edwards said, "Thatโs great. Dawn Light Middle School is near the kindergarten, so Hayes can help pick Grace up in the future."
The braised ribs Hayes was holding slipped and fell into his bowl with a clatter.
Mother Winter said, "Oh no, Hayes is still just a child himself."
"Whatโs wrong with that?" Father Edwards said, "When Grace starts elementary school, they can look out for each other."
Father Winter nodded, "Having each other as companions will give us peace of mind."
Grace Winter didnโt quite understand what everyone was talking about, but she heard Hayes Edwardsโ name. While munching on corn, she nodded, her cheeks bulging like a hamsterโs.
And looking a bit silly.
Hayes glanced at her and then looked away.
The little companion had corn kernels stuck on her face, looking very annoying.
The parents were already talking about them going to college after elementary school, and eventually about marriage and children.
"Childhood sweethearts. If Grace and Hayes end up together, theyโd just live upstairs..."
Everyone was laughing and chatting happily, filling the room with joy.
As for the two concerned... Grace Winter was laughing cheerfully, but only Hayes Edwards was troubled.
Troubled about when he could finally shake off the little tag-along Grace Winter.
Itโs so annoying!
Actually, most of the kids from the same kindergarten lived in nearby neighborhoods, like the chubby one who lived in the neighborhood next to Hayes Edwards.
"My mom said that Iโll attend Dawn Light Middle School too, and weโll be classmates then."
The chubby one crunched on the cookies in his hand.
"By the way, Hayes, what about your sister? Is she coming with us?"
Hayes replied with a cold little face, "Of course not!"
"Makes sense." The chubby one thought for a moment, "Grace is only in the lower kindergarten class, still a year or... two away from school..."
He couldnโt figure it out.
Hayes, however, thought that when he started elementary school, he would definitely stay far away from Grace, this little tag-along, and see how she keeps sticking to him.
During the summer break, Grace Winter went back to her hometown with her parents.
Hayes couldnโt be happier because he wouldnโt have to worry about bumping into that little tag-along the moment he opened the door, nor would he have to play boring pretend games with her every day!
