No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1860: Hayes Edwards Side Story (17)
"Have we arrived?"
The teacher smiled and said, "Not yet."
Grace Winter nodded and her eyelids drooped down again.
Watching her about to fall asleep, Hayes Edwards felt his pocket.
"Grace Winter, do you want some strawberry cookies?"
Strawberry cookies?
Strawberry cookies!
She woke up immediately, her eyes sparkling, "Are the strawberry cookies back?"
Hayes: "???"
Oh, right! He had said before that the strawberry cookies grew legs and ran away.
"Yes, they are back now."
Hayes took the uneaten strawberry cookie from his pocket and placed it in Grace’s hand, "No sleeping once you eat the cookie."
"Okay." Grace nodded obediently.
The small cookie was not even half the size of the palm of a child’s hand.
Even though she ate it in small bites, it was still gone quickly.
After finishing the strawberry cookie, Grace looked at Hayes eagerly.
Hayes was left with no choice but to turn away and ask gruffly, "What?"
Grace blinked, "Hayes, do any other strawberry cookies run back?"
Hayes: "..."
Well, actually he had saved another small cookie.
A minute later, Grace looked over again.
Hayes pulled out another one.
A minute later...
Grace thought Hayes seemed like a treasure trove filled with strawberry cookies, maybe some were her own, or possibly ones that escaped from other kids.
"No more." Hayes emptied all his pockets, "Really, there are no more."
"Alright." Grace felt a bit disappointed.
Luckily, the kindergarten was almost there.
This afternoon they didn’t have to come back, as it was coupled with the weekend break.
Many parents were already waiting at the entrance.
Before dismissal, they needed to gather and count the number of students.
Grace went back to her class, and when they were released, she ran with her little backpack to find Hayes.
The two walked together toward the kindergarten’s exit.
During dinner, Grace talked about the "strawberry cookies growing legs" with her mom.
Mother Winter found it amusing and asked who told her.
Grace said, "Hayes Edwards told me, later the strawberry cookies ran back on their own."
She found it quite magical.
Father Winter immediately understood what was going on, but he didn’t want to shatter the kids’ lovely fantasy.
But soon, Grace raised a new question: "If strawberry cookies grow legs, will they cry when I eat them?"
Mother Winter: "..."
Father Winter: "..."
The direction of the story suddenly got a bit frightening.
Fortunately, Grace stopped dwelling on the issue.
She still really liked eating strawberry cookies, and if she misplaced one, she comforted herself by thinking they grew legs and ran away.
They would return eventually.
During the weekend, Grace went to play with Hayes again. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
It was Mother Edwards who opened the door.
They had just finished breakfast, and Grace had also just eaten.
Mother Edwards always adored Grace and couldn’t resist picking her up whenever she came over.
The little girl was soft and fair, like a caring little cotton jacket; once picked up she immediately snuggled in sweetly and coquettishly said, "Grace wants Aunt Edwards’ little cake."
How could Mother Edwards refuse, "Grace, go play with Hayes, and I’ll bring the cake to you later, how does that sound?"
"Okay." The little girl’s voice was soft and milky, her eyes smiled happily.
