Nine Star Hegemon Body Arts-Chapter 5970 Lifehunter Encirclement
Chapter 5970 Lifehunter Encirclement
“Everyone, gather up! Don’t get separated!” shouted Xie Wanyi as she clashed with the assassin.
The group immediately gathered, ready to face a powerful foe. They raised their weapons nervously.
But after that sudden strike, there was only silence. The assassin had vanished like a ghost in the wind.
Still, Xie Wanyi remained on high alert, gripping the hilt of her sword tightly. Her gaze swept the surroundings with razor focus as Violet Blood Qi surged from her body. She was trying to pinpoint the enemy’s position.
Seeing even the Sovereign sprout Xie Wanyi so serious, everyone else tensed.
Long Chen stood at the outer ring of the formation, and there was a woman trembling behind him. He could feel her fear.
Long Chen then turned back and gave her a calm, reassuring smile. He said, “Don’t worry. We’ll be fine.”
The woman had been incredibly nervous, but when she saw Long Chen’s sunny smile, she felt like the shadows of the world were being driven away. It gave her a sense of safety.
Suddenly, Xie Wanyi shouted, “Found you!”
Violet qi erupted out of her. Like a bolt of violet lightning, she shot through the air.
BOOM!
Many miles away, a figure was sent flying by her attack.
“Nice!” Long Chen was impressed. He could easily sense the assassin’s hidden location, but that was thanks to all the Lifehunter race’s assassins he had slain so far. The Nine Star Hegemon Body Art had carved their aura into Long Chen’s body. Against him, hiding was a fool’s errand.
However, Xie Wanyi had managed to track the assassin down with pure bloodline instinct and technique. That was impressive.
This Lifehunter expert was by no means unskilled. He had left behind multiple auras in the vicinity to trick their senses. Yet amidst the decoys, Xie Wanyi had zeroed in on the real one. She truly was talented.
Everyone else cheered. They finally bore witness to a Sovereign sprout’s power.
After forcing her opponent out of hiding, Xie Wanyi moved like lightning. She struck over ten times in an instant, forcing him on the defensive. Her sword swept sideways, and suddenly, the Lifehunter was locked down. His expression twisted.
BOOM!
His sword shattered, blood spewed from his mouth, and his body turned transparent. He was trying to flee.
But Xie Wanyi merged with her sword in a flash. Her blade pierced the void.
PAK!
Blood burst into the air. The next moment, a slender, long sword stabbed into the ground, its master now lifeless.
The group cheered once more, awe shining in their eyes as they looked at Xie Wanyi.
But her expression remained solemn.
“This is bad. The Lifehunter race has appeared here,” she said gravely. “Space is unstable, and the laws here are in chaos. In this kind of place, they’re like tigers with wings. We’re exposed, while they are in the shadows. If we don’t reach Sovereign Mountain soon, we’ll all be in danger.”
“Big sister Wanyi, what’s the Lifehunter race?” asked one of them.
“Even someone as powerful as big sister Wanyi is afraid of them?” asked one woman.
Shaking her head, Xie Wanyi explained, “You’ll know what the Lifehunter race is in the future. Don’t underestimate them just because I killed this person easily. They are the most frightening assassins. Rather than fighting directly, they are skilled in stabbing you in the back. Had I failed to find the assassin’s position, I would have been powerless to do anything to him. Most importantly, he was just an ordinary Heaven Saint, not a Sovereign sprout. If he had been one, I would’ve had to go all-out. In that case, I wouldn’t be able to protect any of you. Now that he’s dead, his comrades will be on high alert. We have to move.”
“Senior apprentice-sister Wanyi, we’ll listen to you. But promise us one thing. If you really do encounter a Sovereign sprout assassin, don’t bother with us. Just survive. You have to live and take revenge for us.”
“That’s right, senior apprentice-sister Wanyi, our deaths don’t matter. You must live!” echoed the girl who had been rebuked before.
Their determination stirred Long Chen’s heart. He hadn’t expected this random group of violet blood disciples to have such strength of character.
Xie Wanyi was also moved. Though strangers, they were willing to entrust their lives to her. That kind of faith... was something no warrior could take lightly.
She nodded silently, but inside, she made a vow—no matter what, she would get them to Sovereign Mountain safely.
Long Chen noticed the change in her eyes and smiled. The human heart could be surprisingly simple. One act of courage, one moment of trust... and people were willing to walk through fire for others.
“Long Chen, why are you smiling?” asked the young lady hiding behind Long Chen, her curiosity breaking the tension.
Long Chen nearly rolled his eyes. Does this girl ever think before she talks?
Seeing everyone turn to him, he quickly said, “With a powerhouse like senior apprentice-sister Wanyi here, I am sure we’re worrying for nothing.”
“Let’s move now,” said Xie Wanyi. “We’ll pick up the pace.”
They rushed in the direction of Sovereign Mountain. Since they could sense it, there was no need to worry about getting lost.
After rushing for an hour, they suddenly came to a stop.
There was no path in front of them. The land was gone, replaced with a bottomless ravine.
The ravine pulsed with spatial energy, like a black river of death. Spatial currents twisted and writhed along the cliff walls. Just looking into it made their skin crawl. Even an idiot could tell that there was no way of crossing. They would just be sending themselves to their deaths.
With the ravine in their way, they could only go around. They looked at Xie Wanyi.
“Left or right?” someone asked.
No one knew what difference would be, as their divine sense was suppressed. Xie Wanyi could only guess.
“Right.”
They veered right and traveled for another incense stick’s time. Then, a foul stench hit their noses—blood.
Moments later, they found dozens of corpses strewn across the ground.
“They’re... from the violet blood race!”
Shock and fury exploded through the group. They could sense the same bloodline aura from the bodies.
As they got closer, rage overtook their sorrow. The bodies had been mutilated, carved apart by long, narrow blades. It was clear that the Lifehunters had toyed with them before delivering the final blow.
Even Long Chen was angry.
“These bastards...”
Everyone clenched their fists. The brutality was beyond what they could accept.
“They haven’t been dead long, less than an incense stick’s time! We’ll chase them and get revenge!” said one person after examining the corpses.
Xie Wanyi’s expression was gloomy. She was also outraged, but she had to keep her cool. After all, a dead person couldn’t get revenge. She had to make sure her group was safe first.
“Let’s go.”
They gathered the bodies and pressed onward. Certain that Lifehunters were around, Xie Wanyi pushed her Spiritual Strength to the limit.
Then, she stopped. Her eyes sharpened into blades.
A cold voice rang out.
“Wow, your senses aren’t bad! Finally, a decent opponent. It's only fun when someone like you shows up!”
The space ahead twisted, and a figure slowly materialized. Then—ripples spread out.
Dozens of ghost-like silhouettes emerged, encircling them.
