Nine Star Hegemon Body Arts-Chapter 5953 Acknowledging One’s Mistake
Chapter 5953 Acknowledging One’s Mistake
Even with supreme long-distance transportation formations, it took three successive transports to reach their destination. Each jump came at an astonishing cost, and the users’ auras had to remain exceptionally stable throughout.
If someone’s aura became chaotic under pressure, it could instinctively resist the transportation energy and disturb spatial stability. That was extremely dangerous—one mistake could result in being pulled into the chaotic spatial flow, never to return.
Because of this, such transportation formations were rarely used between major cities. The cost was too steep, the requirements too strict, and the risk far too high. On top of that, they weren’t very profitable. More money could be made from having travelers use multiple shorter-range teleportation arrays, which were safer and still relatively fast.
After the second transportation, they were no longer in as much of a rush. Everyone took a brief break to adjust their condition.
After resting, Little Nine couldn’t help but ask Long Chen how he had known the four Sovereign Lords would stand by and not interfere when they attacked Lian Sanqiang.
“Because of the heart,” he replied.
Before the assault, he had used the violet crystal heavenly eye to scan the Sea of Oblivion. When he saw the opportunity, he immediately launched the attack.
If they had hesitated and allowed the four Sovereign Lords to form an alliance, it would have been suicide to attack. Though it had been a gamble, Long Chen took the risk for the sake of the Undying race.
This time, he had won, and the vegetative demon race had a chance to breathe. Once Liu Ruyan and the others returned, their subordinate races would undoubtedly rally around them. The Undying race would once again have a shot at uniting the vegetative demon race.
Even if the plan had failed, Long Chen was prepared. He could have detonated all three Sovereign Lord puppets simultaneously to buy time for their escape. With Xia Chen’s formations and Bai Xiaole’s spatial abilities, their retreat was assured.
That was why, despite his rising strength and the existence of his three Sovereign Lord puppets, Long Chen still brought his brothers. They were the assurance against the unknown.
This strike had great significance—and notably, even the Earth Cauldron didn’t object to it. It had come to realize that while Long Chen often seemed reckless, his actions were calculated on a level even it couldn’t foresee.
Even as a primal chaos divine item with its own soul, the Earth Cauldron couldn’t fully understand human emotions. Strangely enough, it was Evilmoon that best understood Long Chen. No matter what Long Chen did, Evilmoon always stood by him, never once raising an objection.
After the third teleportation, they finally returned to the Dragon Domain.
Back at home, the atmosphere was heavy. When the Dragonblood warriors departed without a word, the morale of the disciples had plummeted. Everyone had been left feeling lost and disheartened.
But when they returned, these disciples shouted in excitement. The Dragonblood warriors were genuinely moved. These young ones they had once beaten until they cried for mercy were now so emotionally reliant on them.
Though the Dragonblood warriors scolded them for being so emotional, deep down, the Dragonblood warriors felt a warm fondness. They appreciated the dragon race’s simple and direct way of expressing their feelings.
Meanwhile, Long Chen went straight to see the domain lord. The others went to rest—Yue Zifeng, in particular, needed urgent recuperation.
When Long Chen arrived, the four dragon ancestors were already present. They looked like loan sharks waiting to collect a debt, ready to pounce the moment he appeared.
But as soon as he walked in, they froze.
The killing intent that still clung to Long Chen was oppressive, and the resentment that lingered in his aura was nearly solid. As fellow Sovereign Lords, they recognized it instantly—it was the lingering hatred of a dying Sovereign Lord.
“You... What did you do?!” barked the scarlet dragon ancestor, unable to hold back his impatient nature.
Long Chen quickly responded, “I had to get the aid of my brothers to get revenge. However, I immediately rushed back once I was done. Seniors, this junior apologizes. With just a look, I can tell you are great seniors of virtue. I know you won’t quibble with me over my rudeness, but I still feel that I must apologize and pass on my sincerest regrets. I have come specifically to hear your instructions.”
As expected, flattery worked wonders. The ill-tempered scarlet dragon ancestor suddenly found himself unable to scold Long Chen.
“Did you kill Lian Sanqiang?” asked the domain lord with a smile.
It seemed this was all within his expectations.
“I didn’t do it alone. We killed him together,” said Long Chen calmly.
Even though they had mentally prepared themselves for this answer, hearing it still shook the four dragon ancestors. This group of youngsters had really taken down a Sovereign Lord?
“Wait a minute, Domain Lord,” one of the elders said, turning toward him. “Didn’t you say before that you didn’t know who Long Chen would be targeting? But now it sounds like you predicted he would go after Lian Sanqiang all along.”
Previously, when the elders suggested pursuing Long Chen, the domain lord claimed he didn’t know Long Chen’s destination. With it, he implied that they wouldn’t be able to catch up. But now it was clear he had known from the start.
The domain lord simply looked at Long Chen.
Long Chen smiled and answered, “Actually, it wasn’t hard to figure out. I had to pick the weakest one. Among the three Sovereign Lords, Lian Sanqiang was clearly the weakest. As arrogant as I am, I know full well that even with the full might of the Dragonblood Legion, we’re no match for Yang Yan or Long Can. At least, not yet. And more importantly, they have powerful backers with countless unknown trump cards. We can’t face them head-on just yet.
“As for why I had to kill Lian Sanqiang so urgently—it’s because if he succeeded in unifying the vegetative demon race, his influence would grow exponentially. He would become far more dangerous. The calamity in the Undying Demon Forest started because of me, so I couldn’t leave things like that. I had to end Lian Sanqiang before advancing to the Human Emperor realm.
“This way, the factions wavering about joining him will continue wavering. They won’t join Lord Brahma and Yan Xu’s side so lightly. Thus, Lian Sanqiang had to die.”
Hearing that explanation, the dragon ancestors now understood. The domain lord had seen it clearly from the beginning, while they had missed a crucial layer.
“It was still far too dangerous to confront a Sovereign Lord head-on,” the scarlet dragon ancestor scolded. “One misstep and all of you could’ve died. Even if you didn’t want us to interfere, you could’ve at least let us watch from the shadows, just in case! And why did you take everyone without even saying a word? Do you not think of the Dragon Domain as your home? Or do you think we old-timers have lost our fangs and are useless?!”
Although the scarlet dragon ancestor was impressed with Long Chen’s courage and tactics, his anger was real. The Dragon Domain had welcomed Long Chen and his comrades as one of their own, but he hadn’t even left a message.
“Seniors, please don’t be angry. I acknowledge my mistakes. Next time, I will definitely discuss things with you all,” promised Long Chen.
Long Chen knew that they were simply angry about his attitude. He might as well just say he was wrong and get it over with. That was all they were looking for.
As expected, as soon as Long Chen acknowledged this, the four ancestors’ expressions improved. They no longer acted antagonistic.
They began eagerly questioning him about the battle. When they learned that there had been four other Sovereign Lords present during the assault, they were chilled to the bone.
The scarlet dragon ancestor almost cursed Long Chen when he heard this. For him to still attack in that kind of situation, was he crazy?
Luckily, things had gone well. In the end, the domain lord chuckled, “You need to stop running off on reckless adventures. The Dragon Domain has prepared something for you—something very special. You should refine it before your advancement to the Human Emperor realm.”
