New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 575: Ugly feeling
Coco’s face felt hot, especially her ears and neck.
She was so distracted with how embarrassed she felt that she failed to notice Quizen calling out to her, completely focused on bringing Kairo back to his room.
Once he was right in front of his door, she kicked it open and rushed inside.
She was panting and breathing heavily by the time she placed Kairo down onto his bed, the bed dipping under her weight as she took a seat on his mattress.
She buried her face on her palms, groaning quietly against her hands as shame creeped under her skin.
Why did she act that way to her own mother when she realized that Cleora is Kairo’s master? Shouldn’t she be happy that he was connected to someone who is as kind and caring as her?
Cleora Coison is a good mother and a good woman, if Kairo were to want to get to know her, he would surely fall for her.
Cleora knows how to cook, how to take care of someone, how to comfort people, so it would not take long for the hybrid to catch feelings for his master and falling for someone like her mother should be relieving.
Except, in this case, Coco doesn’t feel relieved.
Her heart clenched at the thought of Kairo falling in love with someone else, much more if it was her mother.
She straightened herself up and shook her head, but her eyes shifted to stare at Kairo’s sleeping face, her hand withdrawing from her face and touching his cheek instead.
Coco’s eyes darkened, her thoughts swirling in her head as the scenario of Kairo walking out of the house to go after Cleora clouded her judgement.
I don’t like this feeling. Coco’s face got graced with a deep grimace.
Why am I thinking this hostile against my own mother? Why am I being a bad daughter? She couldn’t help, but wonder why she was feeling an ugly emotion.
This hostility is not suitable for someone who is as kind as mama. Coco grumbled in her mind, her eyes unconsciously narrowing into a glare as she continued to stare at Kairo.
But Coco quickly pulled her hand away from his cheek and stared at the wall instead, catching herself being all creepy like towards a sleeping person.
Such a disgraceful act is not acceptable— she is well aware of this fact, but a part of her kept whispering that it was fine, that it was alright.
It will never be alright. Coco hissed, shaking the thoughts away from her head.
The desire to keep herself around Kairo and keep an eye on him is gnawing at her, a sense of dread looming over her head and whispering nothing, but terrible things.
Coco bit her tongue, the sharp edges of her teeth drawing blood from the wet muscle.
She stood up from Kairo’s bed and casted one last glance before she made her way to his door, the metallic tang of her blood clouding her senses which prompted her to leave his room.
She closed the door as quietly as possible and walked further down the hall, her feet carrying her to the bathroom.
She immediately shut the door behind her, pressing her back against and burying her face in her hands, right before the same ugly feeling she felt earlier clawed back onto her skin.
The sharp claws of the emotion dug itself deep into her being, murmuring words that will make everyone hate her.
Claim him. Make him yours.
The injury on her tongue made Coco flinch, the ache was dull, but it was enough for her to go find at least a little semblance of sanity.
Coco walked over to the sink and turned the faucet, causing water to immediately come pouring out, the liquid going straight to drain with the usual swishing sounds.
Coco opened her lips, letting the blood that accumulated inside to drip out of her mouth and stain the sink a light shade of red.
She watched the water wash away her blood, the color fading into nothing until there was no more blood in sight, but the red liquid kept dripping from the injury on her tongue, slowly and gently.
Coco raised her gaze, her eyes landing on her reflection in the mirror.
Is this the face of the woman who loves such innocent and lovely mediators like them? She wondered, her gaze darkening with disgust as she continued to stare at herself.
After a while, she averted her gaze from the glass and leaned down, her lips closing a little to suck in some water into her mouth.
Once she had enough, she gurgled the water and spit it out, the liquid a beautiful shade of red.
She proceeded to wash her face, hoping that it would calm her rampaging thoughts down so she can finally go out of the bathroom.
She hated the feeling of being hostile to her mother, but she doesn’t know why she was acting like that when Cleora merely wanted to help put Kairo out of his misery.
"Please end my misery, too, mama." Coco grumbled as she splashed more water into her face.
With the cold water wetting her skin, she felt much better compared to earlier. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
She straightened herself once again and placed her hands on the sink, gripping the edges as she stared at her reflection.
"I’m beautiful." Coco whispered, her eyes taking note of her features. "I have a mole under my eye, which is a plus.. And I have beautiful eyes, as well as good eyelashes."
She sighed and shook her head. "I’m attractive enough, but why doesn’t Kairo like me—"
Coco paused and gasped, her eyes widening as big as saucers, her head snapping up to look at herself in the mirror again.
The way her cheeks became warm and a fuzzy feeling tingled her chest, the signs she often gets whenever she’s thinking about the husbands, were enough to make her realize one thing.
"I like Kairo."
