New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 565: Physical examination
The questioning didn’t take long, and Coco managed to debrief them on what happened from her stalking a tough crocodile down the river and suddenly getting ambushed by someone.
She left out the part of what happened where she was incredibly hurt and got healed by the woman with a strange healing ability.
Not to mention, the disclosure of the existence of the king beasts.
She wanted to confront them herself, but she knew that she will have to hold that off for a while because the physical examination that the guildmaster had scheduled for her will have to come first.
Honestly, she felt like ditching the examination, but she was rather curious as to what the examination would have.
And there’s a saying that curiosity kills the cat.
"Since you assured us that you’re feeling well, we will be conducting a medium difficulty examination." Mr. Covez stated, nodding his head towards Alucard and Greinzer who were standing by the gates.
The hunters and the guildmaster had brought her back to the arena where the second stage of the examination was held.
The arena was already built back to its original state, but the ground still has a couple of cracks here and there— presumably from what happened a few weeks ago.
Being in the arena where she first killed a goleter felt somehow nostalgic and she couldn’t help, but smile.
"I understand." Coco answered, her hand gripping her unbreakable hoe tightly.
"The struggle to kill monsters is no lying matter so I take it that if you were able to take down this monster, then you’re free to go back to your daily work style." The guild master smiled, cold and daring, at her.
Coco shuddered. The look on Mr. Covez’s face is the kind of look a teacher would give his student whenever they have done something wrong and is daring them to continue lying their way out of their trouble. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
But why would the guild master look at her like that? She hasn’t done anything wrong.
"So I just have to kill the monster on the other side of that gate?" Coco asked, tilting her head and ignoring the look on the guild master’s face.
Mr. Covez huffed. "Yes, if you manage to do so, then you won’t receive a house arrest."
"House arrest for what?" Coco’s nose scrunched up and turned her head away. "I love working, and I will continue working. I will kill whatever is behind that gate and go on a mission today."
The guild master simply shook his head at Coco’s stubbornness.
He only wanted her to back down and say that she will rest, but the huntress herself is as stubborn as a mule.
"Very well." He uttered and turned around. "Take down that monster in under five minutes."
"Roger!" Coco called from behind him, playfully saluting at him even though he couldn’t see it, but she didn’t care— she would take down that monster no matter what.
Once Mr. Covez is at a safe distance, he raised a hand and brought it down in sharp, swift motion.
Greinzer and Alucard perked up, the two of them quickly grabbing the gates’ chains and pulling it to open the gate.
The gate let out a screeching sound, causing Coco to cover her nose and close her eyes.
A second later, a flying pig came flying through the gate and quickly made a beeline towards Coco— its wings spread wide and sharp feathers glinting under the sunlight.
Mr. Covez, Greinzer, and Alucard watched with bated breath, their heart hammering inside their chest.
The monster continued to approach Coco’s spot and she merely stood there, waiting for it— actually, no, she started moving, but only reeling her arm back.
The three of them grew confused on what she wanted to do and got worried when Coco suddenly threw her weapon.
The unbreakable hoe came flying towards the monster with a sharp, whistling sound in its wake, and with a terrifying accuracy, it hit the monster right in the head.
The force of the throw must have been great because the moment the blade of the hoe came in contact with the monster’s head, it momentarily flew back a couple of feet in the air before crashing down on the ground.
The pig plummeted into the arena floor with a loud thud, making debris and dust fly in all directions.
They all watched Coco jog her way across the arena and approach the flying pig casually, and bent down to pick up her farming tool.
"I’m done!" Coco called, her voice bellowing and echoing.
"What in the world was that?" Alucard muttered, disbelief written all over his face. "How can she take down a monster as big as that in one hit from that distance? That’s impossible!"
"Yet, we watch it happen with our own eyes." Greinzer grunted out, walking away from Alucard and trudging towards Coco.
"Did I do good?" Coco asked, her eyes meeting Greinzer’s red irises, a hopeful look in her face.
Just in time, Mr. Covez stopped before them and as expected, a displeased frown was evident on his face, his eyebrows furrowed.
"Coco, can you spar with me?" The guild master asked, causing Greinzer, Coco, and Alucard, who had stopped right beside Greinzer, to snap their heads towards him.
"Excuse me?" Coco blurted out, blinking.
"It seems like you are stronger than we have anticipated, so I would like to test your strength out myself." Mr. Covez said, puffing his chest out.
"Then no." Coco refused, shaking her head and shot him a glare. "I would never lay a hand on people who had done nothing wrong against me, sir."
The guild master stared at her, scanning her face for any hint of doubt, but he found none.
He sighed and relented. "Very well."
"Please don’t ever say that again." Coco turned away, frowning.
"I see.. Forgive me." Mr. Covez apologized and forced a smile. "Well, at least you passed. You may go back to work, Coco."
