Chapter 562: Drunken mess

After Coco tucked Heiren into his bed, she made her way down to the kitchen and was greeted by the sight of Zaque sleeping on the table, Alhai propped on the wall, and Kairo laying on the floor.

The three mediators are hugging a bottle of wine, their faces flushed.

Coco’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion, her eyes sweeping across the room to check how many bottles of wine there were.

She spotted two bottles by the sink and more or less guessed that those were empty.

"Goodness.. What a drunken mess." Coco grumbled under her breath, but it was meant with good intentions.

Coco stayed standing by the doorway for another second before she let out a sigh and walked over to Alhai, walking past Kairo’s sleeping form on the floor, and kneeled before him.

"Let me start with you." She mumbled and pushed the bottle he was hugging aside, gently placing it on the floor beside him. "Geez, this bottle is almost empty."

She had fun with Quizen, but at what cost? The other mediators in the house got drunk off their asses.

Coco sighed again, then slipped her hands under Alhai and hauled him up with ease.

She didn’t waste any time walking to the second floor and carrying him to his own room, but on the way there, the mediator groaned and protested against her. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

A moment after he shifted on her arms, his eyes fluttered open and greeted her with a dazed look on his face.

"Coco?" Alhai called the second his eyes landed on her face. "Oh, Coco.. I love you."

Coco nodded her head and gently lowered him on his bed, her lips pressing against his forehead. "Yeah, it’s me. I love you, Alhai."

The mediator’s lips twitched, but he fell asleep immediately afterwards.

Coco made sure to tuck him under the covers and left his room, rushing back down to the kitchen because she didn’t want Zaque or Kairo to be left alone any longer.

When she entered the kitchen, she made a beeline towards the mediator sleeping on the floor.

"You’ll get sick." Coco grumbled and crouched down, her hand reaching out to grab the bottle of wine from Kairo’s embrace. "I will have to look out for all of you the next time you decide to drink."

After placing the bottle down onto the counter, Coco picked Kairo off the floor and made sure that he was comfortable.

She cast a glance onto the first husband’s way before she left the room.

Coco made her way down the first floor’s hallway and kicked the door open to Kairo’s room, she trudged inside the makeshift bedroom and stopped, her eyebrows furrowing.

Kairo’s room was almost empty, saved for the pile of folded clothes by the end of his bed.

When she fetched him to eat dinner a couple of nights ago, Kairo walked out of his room so she didn’t manage to take a peak, but it’s not like she’s trying to have a look— she was just concerned.

Though, she should have acted on that concern of hers and checked on him that night.

Coco heaved a deep breath and placed Kairo down onto his bed, causing him to roll on to his side and turn his back on her the moment he was placed on the soft mattress.

Coco didn’t walk out of his room immediately and opted to stay for a couple more seconds, just looking around and checking what she could buy him to make his room more warm and welcoming.

A desk right on the corner would be good, a couple of books, a dresser, and a few things that he might want should be added as well. Coco thought, nodding to herself.

When she was satisfied listing off the things she wanted to buy for Kairo, she walked out of his room and closed the door.

She quickly made her way to the kitchen and rushed to Zaque’s spot.

She was careful to pull the bottle out of his grip and placed it under the table to make sure that it wouldn’t fall on the floor.

Once she was done, she turned back to Zaque and just like with what she did to the other two mediators, she carried him as gently as she could and walked to his bedroom on the second floor.

The walk there was slightly hectic because Zaque was the tallest and largest out of the four husbands, she had a little trouble putting him in a comfortable position because of it.

Still, she successfully made her way to his room.

"I can’t have you getting sick just because you were drinking with your friends." Coco mumbled, placing him down on his bed and tucking him under his covers.

With the four mediators sleeping soundly in their bedroom, Coco decided to stay by Zaque’s side for a minute longer.

She took a seat beside him, the bed dipping and creaking under her weight.

Her eyes swept across Zaque’s features, noting how chiseled his jawline is and how long his eyelashes are.

It might be creepy of her, but watching the mediators sleep made her feel relieved because she knew that they were well taken care of and was fed with the money she earned.

She doesn’t like the idea of them working to earn money, but she doesn’t want to make them sad.

In her mind, since the dynamic of women and men in this world are reserved, and mediators tend to have it harder than normal men and women— she believed that she was the only one who should be working.

Coco sighed and shook her head. Such thoughts are not good because it might cause a rift between them if she decided to act out on it.

Coco stood up from Zaque’s bed, casting him one last glance before she turned in her heels.

Just as she was about to walk away, something grabbed her wrist and pulled her down onto the bed.

".. I love you, Coco."
