"Does Kakashi really think he can beat Youyu?"
"I heard he became a Chūnin a long time ago, but... it's Youyu."
Since the academy's founding, many prodigies had walked its halls, but none had left an impression as deep as Youyu Hatake. Unlike other students, his talent didn't come from endless training or disciplined study. It came from drinking.
And that made him unpredictable.
"Youyu, be careful!" Rin called out, waving excitedly.
"Youyu-kun, don't be reckless!" Kurenai added, her voice tinged with concern.
Hearing their voices, Youyu's grin widened as he cracked his neck, swaying slightly from the alcohol in his system. His gaze settled on Kakashi with an almost pitying look. "Little spy, you should've stayed hidden. Now I have to get rid

Hearing their voices, Youyu's grin widened as he cracked his neck, swaying slightly from the alcohol in his system. His gaze settled on Kakashi with an almost pitying look. "Little spy, you should've stayed hidden. Now I have to get rid of you for the sake of Konoha."
Kakashi's eyebrow twitched. "Spy? Again? Youyu, I—"
"Alright, alright," Youyu waved dismissively. "No need to confess. I'll deal with you quickly for the safety of the villagers."
The class collectively winced.
"Little... spy?"
Kakashi's patience snapped. He could handle being called short. He could endure the fact that Youyu was an unpredictable menace. But being called a spy was too much.
"YOUYU!!"
With a furious shout, he vanished, White Fang's short blade flashing as he lunged.
The clash of steel echoed through the air. Kakashi's blade struck first—only to be stopped cold.
Qiushui was still sheathed.
Yet Youyu had blocked the attack effortlessly with just a flick of his wrist.
Kakashi's arms shook from the impact. He grit his teeth, trying to push forward, but the pressure against his blade was immovable.
His instincts screamed at him to retreat.
But before he could move, Youyu drew his sword.
A dark purple arc of energy erupted from the blade, roaring through the air like a beast unleashed.
Kakashi barely had time to dodge. The slash grazed his cheek, cutting a thin line of blood before continuing forward.
Then, it struck a massive tree behind him.
The tree split clean in half.
Silence fell.
Shisui, watching from the sidelines, forgot to breathe. That technique...
"That was no ordinary sword strike. That was Slashing Steel."
A technique that separated ordinary swordsmen from true masters—the ability to cut anything, even steel itself.
And Youyu had done it without effort.
Kakashi barely had time to recover before a foot slammed into his gut, sending him sprawling across the training ground. A moment later, Qiushui's blade rested lightly against his throat.
"You two," Youyu slurred, turning his attention to Shisui and the other Jōnin. "Surrender now, or I'll execute your spy."
Kakashi twitched violently.
Tanaka covered his face in his hands.
"Kakashi... this is what happens when you fight Youyu."
"Youyu," Kakashi growled, feeling his dignity slipping away. "I'M KAKASHI! NOT A SPY!"
Youyu blinked.
"...Kakashi?"
The name sounded vaguely familiar.
He squinted at the boy under his sword. "...Ohhh! You're that kid I used to beat up!"
The class collectively winced.
Kakashi wanted to die.
"Yeah, yeah! Kakashi! I remember now." Youyu grinned, patting Kakashi on the back like an old friend. "Why didn't you say so earlier? I was about to execute you!"
Kakashi twitched. He had said so. Many times.
But Youyu's alcohol-soaked brain ignored logic.
"Well, my bad," Youyu shrugged, sheathing his sword. "Glad I didn't kill you. No hard feelings, right?"
Kakashi took off running.
He refused to deal with this madness any longer.
Tanaka sighed in relief and turned to Shisui. "Thank you for coming. You can return to Lord Hokage now—"
"Yeah, about that..."
Shisui looked at Youyu. At the ridiculous display of power he had just witnessed. At the sheer foolishness of it all.
Hiruzen Sarutobi was going to lose his mind when he heard about this.
But that was a problem for later.
For now, he just wanted to get as far away from Youyu as possible.
Later that day, in the Hokage's office, Shisui, Kakashi, and the others reported the entire event.
When they finished, the Third Hokage sat in silence.
A vein twitched on his forehead.
"He did WHAT?!"
Shisui coughed awkwardly. "Ah... well... Youyu may have almost executed Kakashi under the belief he was a foreign spy."
"HE'S A DRUNK EIGHT-YEAR-OLD!"
"Yes, Lord Hokage."
"WHO CAN FLING SWORD SLASHES THAT CUT THROUGH TREES?!"
"...Yes, Lord Hokage."
Hiruzen took a deep inhale, rubbing his temples.
"I swear to the Sage of Six Paths," he muttered, "if I don't do something about this boy soon, he's going to accidentally declare war on another village."
Silence.
And then, the Hokage sighed.
"...I need a drink."
