Chapter 216 (2): Experts Fight Their Own, Amateurs Fight Others

With Veronica covering his eyes, Wayne couldn’t see anything. Outside the fleshy sphere, a tentacle reached out, the tip transforming into an eyeball.

As expected of a succubus. She was totally his type. So big and so leggy.

Auston ignored the succubus’s temptation, shuffling his deck of cards calmly. “You’re free to keep your mouth shut, and I’m free to make assumptions. I presume that the traitor of the Ministry of Magic is observing from the dark, daring not to show himself before me...”

“Tonight’s meant for testing the water and collecting information!”

“I can give them some information, such as the Lando family’s luck...”

“I don’t know if there is a Goddess of Fortune in the world, but the Landos have always been lucky...” Auston had finished shuffling his cards. “There are fifty-four cards in this deck—ten numeral cards for each of the four suits, representing the earth, fire, water, and wind elements. I’ve sealed elemental magic in the cards according to their power level, with ten being the strongest and one being the weakest...”

“Then there are the twelve court cards, Jacks, Queens, and Kings, as well as two Jokers, one big and one little. Above the elemental magic, they each represent different faiths, making every card incredibly expensive to create.”

Auston drew a card and smiled, showing it to the succubus. “See, I’m lucky.”

The back of the card was the Lando family’s emblem, and the front of the card showed the King of Spades and the drawing of an undead knight riding on a warhorse, representing the Death Knight.

Auston closed his eyes, drawing four elements from the silver coin to inject into the King of Spades, manifesting the knight’s projection.

In the study, the Death Knight appeared on his undead horse with a greatsword in his grip, clad in black armor. White light danced in his skeletal eye sockets, and Death energy fluttered in the form of a cape.

It was vivid, so much so that even Wayne couldn’t find fault in it.

The moment the Death Knight appeared, Auston’s complexion became paler with beads of sweat dripping down, and his breathing became hurried.

“You’re not the Lord of Lust. Your divine power is limited. He’s not the real Death Knight. You two are a perfect match for this fight.”

Auston drew another card—Eight of Hearts. With it, he established a barrier of wind elements around him, which made his breathing even heavier.

Veronica felt a pang in her heart. She elbowed Wayne in the side, urging him to go out and help.

“You haven’t learned from all the diary entries you’ve read. Open your eyes and look carefully. Auston’s lying to you. Unlike him, I’ve always been an honest man and never tell you any lie.” Wayne insulted Auston to flatter himself.

Veronica made a face. No one with a functional sense of shame would write a diary, and a future diary at that.

By now, the Death Knight was already clashing with the succubus. Veronica quickly turned to look, not wanting to miss any detail.

The Death Knight rode toward the succubus, swinging his knightly sword at her neck. As a magical creation, though, he could not resist the succubus’s charm, and the swing lacked proper power, obviously going easy on the beauty.

Auston shook his head. “The Death Knight is nothing but a pervert.”

(ꐦ乛‸乛)

Well, you got that right! Wayne huffed.

The succubus swung her tail to parry the sword. The pointy stinger at the tip caught the blade, sputtering sparks at the collision. The knight’s undead horse raised its front hooves and stomped at the succubus’s two assets; they were so prominent that the horse subconsciously saw them as targets.

The hooves went through the succubus’s chest, but it was only an afterimage left after she vanished. She was suddenly right behind the Death Knight like she had teleported. Spreading her wings to hover midair, she whipped her legs with pink currents of seductive fragrance swirling around them.

Gulp! x3

I saw it! x3

The kick hit the Death Knight’s skull squarely, but the knight didn’t even budge, making the disparity of power clear.

While the succubus lacked in physical strength and had a soft, agile physique, though, she was the Lord of Lust’s vessel in the human world, and one kept by the royal family at that. Her divine power was not to be underestimated, especially since the mysterious figure had enhanced it.

The moment her leg made contact with the knight’s skull, a burst of pink air rushed to envelope the knight’s skeleton, turning the black armor pink. The Death Knight froze, losing control over his body. The white light flickering in his eye sockets gradually turned pink as well. And not only he, but his mount was also enthralled.

The succubus hovered in the air like she was weightless. Without even flapping her wings, she approached the Death Knight and lifted his skeletal chin, pressing a kiss to his forehead.

“Go, my knight. Cut Auston’s head off for me.”

Inside the fleshy sphere, Wayne couldn’t be more envious. If he had known about the reward, he would have willingly pretended to be the fake knight. He filed the succubus’s power away in his head. It could be of use one day!

Suddenly, he felt a jab in his side. Veronica elbowed him again. He quickly interrupted, “There’s no need to help Auston. He’ll be fine. If you don’t believe me, let’s bet on it. If you lose, I’ll kiss you. If you win, you’ll kiss me.”

“Who’s talking about that?” Veronica bit out. “You just gulped. You could see outside.”

“...”

And this is the one time you’re not dense?

“Explain!”

“This isn’t the time for that discussion. Besides, you gulped, too.”

Enthralled by the succubus, the Death Knight’s eye sockets were now filled with pulsing pink hearts. He turned his mount around and pointed his sword at Auston. The succubus sat sideways on the horseback, wrapping her arms around the knight and plastering her supple body against him. The Death Knight was entirely gone.

Overcome hard power with soft power! Being busty was the greatest superpower!

Auston remained unfazed, showing no anger for the Death Knight’s betrayal. “Fool. The knight betrayed me. Then he can betray you, too. Were I you, I wouldn’t sit so close to it.”

The succubus giggled, looking at Auston with leering eyes while pressing a finger to her lips. “I look forward to you betraying your wife more. Want a taste? I was born out of the Lord of Lust’s divine power and represent the perfect female body.”

Gulp! x3

If skeletons had salivary glands, even the undead horse would have gulped, let alone the Death Knight.

Naturally, Wayne got elbowed again.

Auston raised the King of Spades in his hand. The grey mist drawn on the front slowly faded, projected to the real world. Death energy surrounded the Death Knight and erased the pink hearts in his eye sockets. With cold, aloof white light returning to his skull, the knight thrust his sword through his chest.

Blood splattered.

The Death Knight was all bones and no blood. Naturally, the blood had come from the succubus when the knightly sword went through the gaps between his bones to hit the succubus behind him. Although the law-abiding succubus had her airbags equipped while riding the horse, the blade still pierced through her chest.

She screamed, the sonic waves of her piercing voice shattering the space of the study like a mirror. All of them plunged into darkness, which ended where the Lando Estate’s vast lawn began. On the sides were the main house and the grove. The open field allowed for an open view.

The succubus grimaced, covering her chest while hovering in the air. Where the blade had thrust through, grey Death energy extended short tendrils and exhausted the succubus’s vitality, resulting in the wound alternating between mending and decaying into bones and rotten flesh. She had to tap into what remained of her divine power to erase the Death corroding her flesh.

She didn’t attack again. Frowning down at the Death Knight guarding Auston, she whipped her long tail and ripped open a curtain of blackness. A pair of sharp claws reached out, tearing the fissure further.

A semi-humanoid figure over five meters tall walked out on two feet, its slim body covered in deep blue scales and black decorative patterns. It had a head that resembled an anaconda and eight tails that resembled an octopus’s arms behind its back.

It was the Lord of Envy’s vessel in the human world, whose main representative creatures were snakes, as well as cats and dogs. This particular vessel was created mainly after the image of a snake. As for the octopus-arm, they stemmed from the description of the Lord of Envy as a massive sea monster that devoured all in the encyclopedia of hell.

Buzz—

A giant fly that was over ten meters long flew over, clearly the Lord of Gluttony’s vessel in the human world. The demon lord was also represented by tigers and pigs, and there were numerous varieties of flies, not all of them feeding on feces. Many flies sucked blood. Judging by this giant fly’s sharp mouthparts, it clearly didn’t sustain itself mainly on waste.

The vessel had an incredible number of human limbs instead of regular fly legs, crowding under its abdomen. While it flew, the limbs swayed around, making it a corruptive source that ate away at one’s sanity even without doing anything.

Disgusted, Veronica retched a couple of times.

“Just to make it clear, I didn’t do anything.”

The suggestive joke went over Veronica’s head, but she still elbowed him once more, knowing nothing good could have come out of his mouth.

The three vessels circled the battlefield. It was Auston’s turn to draw a card. He drew the Queen of Hearts, projecting a figure completely clad in golden armor, wielding a sword: the Sun Knight.

Wayne looked closely. The armor covered the knight so thoroughly that he couldn’t see the knight’s face. They wielded sunlight and blazing flames, with a fiery red cape that looked like a pennant.

Judging from the knight’s large build, broad shoulders, and long arms, they were unlikely to be a woman.

“Auston, aren’t you going to summon another knight?” The succubus smiled. “Or is this the limit of your luck?”

“It’s three on three, just the right number.” Auston pointed at the fleshy sphere where Wayne was hiding. “The heir of the Lando family is also the knight of the family. He is quite power—”

Before he could finish, the sphere swung its tentacles around and lunged at the Sun Knight, the sudden turn of events confusing the succubus. Auston scowled, drawing another two cards.

King of Hearts—Moonlight Knight!

Big Joker—Nature Knight!
