Mystic Overlord: Reading Gives Strength-Chapter 526 - 523: The 2nd Paint Factory
Chapter 526: Chapter 523: The 2nd Paint Factory
Under Ronald’s control.
The two took off from the back of the library and headed toward the southern part of Springs through the sky.
Ronald glanced at Eddie beside him.
As they flew, the young Caster’s reaction was somewhat peculiar.
Eddie did not seem unfamiliar with flying; instead, he was uncomfortable with the current situation, much like someone who, accustomed to regular trains, suddenly finds themselves on a high-speed rail.
Ronald subtly probed,
"Does my Flying Spell make you uncomfortable compared to Ms. Theresa’s seasoned Spell control?"
"No, no, no," Eddie replied, shaking his head unconsciously not realizing Ronald was testing him, "I’m just used to the Spells used by my teachers... The speed of your flying ability is somewhat unimaginably fast."
"I see..."
Hearing Eddie’s response, Ronald took note and remained silent, driving the Spell that led them directly above Springs.
To avoid being disturbed by the Casters of Springs at night.
Ronald deliberately adjusted the flying altitude.
Their current position was quite high, where people with poor vision might even fail to distinguish the details of the streets below.
As the two crossed the urban area to reach almost the southernmost place,
Looking down at the line where the city met the sea and the remains of the recent explosion in the Springs industrial area, Eddie naturally spoke with a tone of confusion:
"Mr. Ronald, have we reached our destination?"
"We’re right above it, get ready."
Ronald nodded in response and then began to lower their altitude.
Recently, Queen Dantrian’s policies had been implemented: the industrial area would preserve some industries that caused less pollution, but chemical and coal-related factories had to relocate to a new site within two years.
Combined with the residual impact of the previous explosion in the industrial area,
The remaining number of people in this urban area was notably reduced.
"People are really scarce here..."
Muttering softly, Ronald began to expand the range of his ’Fury’ power for surveillance.
The purpose of their trip today was quite clear.
To inspect the few factories that manufactured paint in the industrial area and see if they could find any trace of Rumil.
Maintaining a reasonably safe altitude, they circled a few times.
Following Ronald, Eddie spoke with a touch of surprise:
"Mr. Ronald, can you sense the situation below from here?"
"My Spell is quite passable in that respect."
After responding to Eddie, Ronald had already surveyed the state of the first paint factory. Although it was still operating, the number of workers was clearly low, and there were no signs of Rumil.
Then they flew to the second paint factory...
"Hmm?"
Ronald raised an eyebrow as they arrived.
It wasn’t that he had seen anything yet.
But before arriving at the location, several people engaged in combat on the ground appeared within the range of his surveillance, and the situation was quite unusual.
Three individuals were positioned to support each other, moving through the factory’s first floor in combat. However, in Ronald’s surveillance, he didn’t spot any enemies fighting these three men!
— These three were controlled by an Illusion Technique of some sort.
— Or perhaps the enemies were outside of ’Fury’ power’s surveillance range.
— Or even more boldly.
Was it possible that the enemy they were facing was a puppet created by Rumil?
"Eddie, there are people fighting over there. Let’s go down and have a look."
"Understood."
Ronald reminded Eddie and immediately accelerated their pace.
Bang—
Less than ten seconds had passed when he heard a gunshot from inside the factory.
Gunshot, trio, night operation, battle mindset...
These three fighting inside were likely agents from the Bureau!
Ronald silently continued to accelerate, and by the time he and Alya behind him hit the ground, they were already inside the paint factory.
"Uh—"
Suddenly, Alya behind Ronald muttered softly.
Ronald’s keen hearing and the power of "Fury" told him that Alya had suddenly lost consciousness—without him noticing anything amiss.
Had Alya behind him been attacked?
Almost instinctively, Ronald turned around; as the dark mist surged out, his right hand also rested on the hilt of the Saint Catherine’s sword.
"Mr. Ronald, please show mercy."
"..."
Entering his pupils was someone Ronald didn’t know how to deal with—
—Ralaye.
The chief spy of Entrode.
Still appearing before him as silently as ever.
At this moment, Ralaye gently helped Alya to stand in front of him and gently leaned him against the factory wall. His gaze at Ronald was still full of apology and smiles.
"I’m really scared of your ’Spell’."
"Even the tracking ones are tough to deal with when they are upon you."
Ronald looked at Ralaye with a very serious gaze.
Even though this guy was standing right in front of him, Ronald still couldn’t sense his presence with the power of "Fury"—there was totally no spell fluctuation of any sort.
Aside from his visual perception, a human’s innate ability...
The man in front of him was like a non-existent fantasy.
While observing the other person, Ronald was also analyzing Ralaye’s intentions.
That this guy would appear at this time was inevitably related to the fight inside the factory. Secretly appearing and only knocking Alya unconscious while displaying his abilities in such a manner...
For Ronald, the crucial point was the other’s attitude.
So, Ronald boldly probed:
"Ralaye, do you want to lay your hands on that original tome from Lumir?"
"..."
Ronald had guessed right.
The moment he spoke, Ralaye’s pretentious smile instantly vanished.
The spy chief gently patted the back of his hand, then adopted a serious expression:
"Mr. Ronald, I personally bear no hostility towards the ’Twelve Witches’ and do not intend to provoke Alya."
"Appearing here tonight is actually just to reach a trade agreement with you."
Ronald nodded noncommittally:
"Go on—"
Ralaye continued,
"I’d like to invite you to Entrode."
"It won’t take too long, just help me decipher an original tome."
Just how much does this guy know about him?
Although Ronald had already prepared for such a situation, he couldn’t help feeling tense.
He tried to control his expression as he prepared to deny it.
However, before he could, Ralaye took a step forward and continued,
"If you agree to my small request, then as a return, I can even erase the records of Halloys, thus securing this crucial trump card for you forever, free from future worries."
"What do you say?"
