Chapter 261: Embracing the World Tree

Anon remained silent, thoughtfully so.

Indeed, True Father had mentioned three things.

The first of them was the Omniscient Saintess, so even if she was merely a Dimension Lord, the mere fact that she was mentioned by True Father meant that she was not bound by normality.

Once his thoughts reached here, he suddenly stepped toward the figure under the tree.

Due to the mysteries permeating this world, he was only the size of a mortal boy, and he only appeared to be a young man approaching a young maiden who sat under a tree’s shade.

Such a picture was incredibly simple in appearance, but the truth behind this appearance contained innumerable mysteries.

The World Tree held complete dominance over the entirety of Mythralis. Naturally, Anon was also caught within the bounds of this dominance.

He held little sway here.

Nevertheless, unlike when Tenebris had approached her, the Omniscient Saintess did not prevent him from stepping toward her.

In fact, his approach instigated the breathtaking smile that was spread across her face, to only widened further.

When he appeared before her, he lowered his stance, stooping, and his face drew closer to hers.

In any other scenario, and in any other context, his actions could easily be determined to be disrespectful and unbecoming, but Anon really did not believe that there were any risks involved with his actions.

After all, it was clear that the Elven race sought to unite with the Human species through him, so they overlooked many of his actions.

More importantly, he felt like this Omniscient Saintess was actually quite eager to unite with him.

His face appeared so close to her own that the very tips of their noses brushed against each other; however, they did not appear to pay this fact any heed.

Anon’s eyes attempted to pierce through the mysteries of the Dimension Lord before him, and they lit up with the brightest of golden lights...

Even so, it was no different than an ignorant mortal attempting to glance at the world beyond a thick fog by piercing through the fog with only the power of their gaze.

Doubtfully, he asked, "Omniscient Saintess, are you all-knowing?"

His words fell, and for a moment, they were swallowed by silence.

The smile stretching across the beautifully molded face of the Venerable Saintess began wavering ever so slightly.

Her soft, slightly plump lips gently pressed against each other before parting. Unknowingly, Anon found his gaze drawn towards them.

"Omniscience is subjective, so it really depends." The Venerable Saintess said, "Every concept existing in this world is essentially part and parcel of a principle that characterizes this world, and the concept of knowledge is no different."

"I am merely one who has no equal in the act of enlightening the Principle of Wisdom. There are no individuals outside of the previous generations of Venerable Saintess who can remotely compare, and I have naturally surpassed my predecessors."

"Otherwise, I would not be fit to become your wife." In saying this, she leaned towards him ever so slightly. Her warm breath lashed against his lips, spurring him on...

His right arm grabbed her by the waist, lifting her, and his left gently pinched her chin.

In but a moment, without the slightest hesitation or thought for repercussions, he embraced the Omniscient Saintess.

Thereafter, they completed a process of exchanging insights into the secrets of the world.

One could call this process expounding on the Dao.

After all, very soon, they would be considered Dao companions, so it was not unusual to find Dao companions expounding on the Dao.

In this process, Anon felt a sense of existential liberation.

What did it mean to embrace the Omniscient Saintess and exchange insights into the secrets of the world?

What did it even mean to be the Omniscient Saintess?

This was lineage, venerated by the Elven folk!

The Venerable Saintess was a mortal Elven child who was chosen by the World Tree.

One must understand that the World Tree molded the bodies of billions and trillions of Elves every cosmic cycle.

Amongst all of these trillions upon trillions, and quadrillions of Elven folk across the entire Prime region, there were only five ever chosen by the World Tree.

These five were the elves who were deemed by the World Tree as its most brilliant creations.

It all began in the beginning, as all things should. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

This was the very first Elven creature, a single sentient lifeform that had taken up the entire focus of the World Tree.

And the lineage of Venerable Saintess only had an additional member on the ninth cosmic cycle after the creation of this species.

This became a cycle, with every other Venerable Saintess only being created after nine cosmic cycles...

The Venerable Saintess was the most treasured creation of the World Tree, and in this way, they were inherently cursed from conception as well.

The World Tree did not desire to see this lineage ever depart from Mythralis.

More damningly, as mortal elves, they would sacrifice a single one of their five senses upon assuming the identity of Venerable Saintess.

The first Venerable Saintess sacrificed their sense of smell, but the World Tree was immediately satisfied with its most perfect creation’s sense of smell, so the second could only sacrifice their sense of taste, whilst the third sacrificed their sense of touch...

With only the sense of sight not being sacrificed, the fifth member of this Venerated Elven Lineage was never given a choice, predetermined to sacrifice her eyes.

In exchange, she was the most favored amongst the generations.

Transcending mortality was akin to a form of rebirth.

Inevitably, upon transcending mortality and seeing its most brilliant creation achieving a second layer of perfection, the World Tree treasured it even more.

The first of this Venerated Elven Lineage was one of the only mortal existences across the entire cosmic space that had evaded the natural cosmic order and escaped the lifespan limit of 129,600 years, or a cosmic cycle, as a mortal.

However, they had succumbed to death, or in essence, returned to the World Tree, before becoming an otherworldly creature.

The second of this Venerated Elven Lineage had indeed transcended mortality, but they had only achieved this feat with a fifth world cultivation and did not survive the sacrifice thereafter.

Though the third had transcended worlds with a fourth world cultivation, the sacrifice was similarly too overbearing.

The fourth of this Venerated Elven lineage was the first to survive this sacrifice, but sometimes, living was a worse fate than death...
