Chapter 50 -50: Deceive the Heaven and Cross the Sea (10)_1

Liang Chen halted and turned to look at Jing Haohao.

Jing Haohao looked at Liang Chen, stood up from the dining chair, and said, “I have something to tell you…”

As she spoke, Jing Haohao deliberately clenched her fingers tightly.

Liang Chen looked at her delicate fingers, which had turned red from the force. He turned back, returned to his seat, hung his coat back on the chair, sat down, and said, “What’s the matter? Sit down, let’s eat and talk slowly.”

Jing Haohao obediently sat down, but she didn’t eat. She just stared into Liang Chen’s eyes and said, “I have to go to Yunnan in a few days…”

“For how long?”

“Half a year…” As Jing Haohao uttered these words, Liang Chen’s expression instantly turned cold. Jing Haohao’s heart contracted sharply. She gathered her courage and continued, “It’s Director Fang Lu’s film. I agreed to do it two months ago. They are starting production in a few days, so I have to join the crew.”

Jing Haohao’s voice gradually dropped as she spoke, even lowering her head.

She looked as if she was extremely afraid of provoking Liang Chen’s anger.

“Back then, I didn’t know you. Moreover, Director Fang has helped me many times. I can’t ignore her kindness… so this time, I have to go… ”

“Haohao, are you making up excuses to avoid me?”

Jing Haohao quickly shook her head, lifted it guiltily to look at Liang Chen, and said, “No, absolutely not… If you don’t believe me, you can call Director Fang.”

Jing Haohao’s head drooped again as she spoke. She stared at the rice in the bowl, fell silent for a while and then, adopting a placating tone, she said in a manner which suggested a compromise, “If you don’t want me to go, I can tell Director Fang that I won’t go…”

Liang Chen stared at the top of Jing Haohao’s fuzzy head, observing her nervousness. He considered whether his softened stance was due to her trying to please him last night, or was it her current fearful and uneasy demeanor that moved him. In any case, despite not being particularly generous, he said, “Haohao, what nonsense are you talking about? How could I possibly prevent you from filming?”

Jing Haohao let out a silent sigh of relief, yet looked up at Liang Chen with surprise in her eyes. “Really?”

Liang Chen nodded, looked at his watch, and said, “It’s getting late, I have to go to the company. Call me before you go to Yunnan…” As he was speaking, it seemed like he remembered something and added, “I will call the producer of your crew and tell him to give you two days off at the end of every month. I will arrange for someone to book your plane tickets in advance, you can just return to Jiangshan City.”

With that, Liang Chen left the restaurant.

Only when she heard the engine sound outside did Jing Haohao let out a long sigh of relief. Her entire body went slack, plopping down onto the dining chair. She opened her hand and saw that her palm was sweaty.

Although her initial expectation and the final result deviated a bit, with the arrangement of returning to Jiangshan City once a month for only two days, she just needed to take progesterone to avoid Liang Chen.

Half a year, she thought, Liang Chen would surely lose interest in her by then.

Four days later, Jing Haohao happily boarded the plane to Yunnan.

PS: Judging by the tone of this story, it’s a sweet romance. I, Yezi, don’t write about jerks…
