My Wife is a Hidden Big Shot-Chapter 135 - 129: Master Actually Has a Cell Phone?
The round-robin point tournament officially began.
Aurora Sinclair glanced at the options on her computer screen. There was only one: [Be Challenged]. It also had a 10-second countdown on it.
Aurora Sinclair clicked "Be Challenged" without hesitation.
Soon, she was matched with a player ranked 15th—a melee Swordsman.
The moment that player saw Master Rory’s ID, he was so scared he almost cried.
Before the match even started, he sent a text bubble directly: "Pro, I give up!"
But there was no "surrender" option in the match. He could only brace himself and stand there, letting Master Rory beat him up.
In less than 20 seconds, Master Rory won her first battle.
The audience outside had expected to see an exciting opening match, but they didn’t expect someone so spineless. They all started cursing the player who had willingly given up.
Julian Lawson, in particular, almost cursed out loud because the player who gave up was a trainee from Team PL.
"Who is this guy? His training results are unacceptable!" Julian Lawson said, grinding his teeth.
Hearing this, Arthur Lockwood teased, "The kid knows how to read the room. If you at PL don’t want him, we at DAF will take him."
Julian Lawson glanced at him and pressed his lips together without speaking, but his expression was grim.
In the following matches, some players fought tenaciously down to their last sliver of health, while others, like the first player, gave up right away.
From the start of the tournament until now, Master Rory’s win rate was 100%, and her points kept climbing higher and higher.
Outside, Jean Quincy watched with her heart in her throat, terrified that her own brother would run into Aurora Sinclair. Fortunately, the two of them hadn’t been matched against each other since the tournament began.
In the CEO’s office, Jared Miles glanced at the time and called Harrison Yates directly. "Everyone takes a half-hour break."
Harrison Yates was taken aback and replied reflexively, "The tournament runs for five consecutive hours. There are no breaks."
Normally, a PK match between average players takes 10-20 minutes to decide a winner, so they’d only fight 3-4 matches in an hour. Who could have expected a monster like Master Rory, whose longest match against any opponent was only five minutes?
As of now, in just over an hour, she had already fought in more than 20 consecutive matches.
Jared Miles asked, "A player like Master Rory... you’re making her fight for five hours straight?"
"No... after five matches, our system increases the matchmaking time, giving players a five-minute break. The more matches they play, the longer the break. At Master Rory’s pace, she might get a break of over ten minutes."
Jared Miles used the remote to switch to Master Rory’s screen. Sure enough, the matchmaking timer on her computer had already passed the 10-minute mark.
Meanwhile, Aurora Sinclair stared with some dissatisfaction at the spinning icon on her screen. After a while longer, her computer finally matched her with a player—an old acquaintance!
Surprise, the Mage.
[Surprise: Master Rory, I haven’t fought a Boxer yet! You’ll have to go easy on me later, let me stick around a little longer. (Laughs)]
[Master Rory: Okay.]
Surprise was Ethan Lowell. He had two options on his screen: [Challenge] and [Be Challenged].
Given his rank, if he clicked [Challenge], he would 100% be matched with Master Rory. So, his team coach’s advice was to consistently choose [Be Challenged] during the round-robin as the safest strategy.
But Ethan Lowell still wanted to fight Aurora Sinclair’s Boxer to see just how big the gap between them was.
The audience outside grew excited. A PK match between the top two players—this was more thrilling than any other PK match.
As the countdown finished, the word "Begin" appeared on both of their screens.
Surprise was the first to activate a Skill, but Master Rory interrupted him instantly. She used a quick dash, trying to close the distance with the Mage, but Surprise swiftly retreated, creating space again.
Ethan Lowell understood Aurora Sinclair’s strength very well; once she got in close, there was absolutely no escape.
So he constantly struggled to maintain distance from her. By whittling down Master Rory’s stamina, he successfully drew first blood.
The audience outside gasped in an instant. The live stream’s bullet comments were spammed with "666."
Master Rory had always comboed her opponents until they were down. No one expected that this time, she wouldn’t land a single attack for over three minutes and even gave up first blood. This proved she wasn’t invincible.
If everyone could find the right strategy, they could successfully defeat her.
Just as everyone was celebrating, Ethan Lowell typed out a line with a wry smile:
[Surprise: You don’t have to go easy on me. Pick up your hand speed and attack!]
[Master Rory: Okay]
The moment the text bubble vanished, Master Rory’s speed suddenly jumped a level. Not only did she swiftly dodge the Mage’s instant-cast Skill, but she also unleashed a Flame Fist while moving at high speed.
No matter how hard Surprise tried to retreat, his speed was ultimately no match for Master Rory’s, and she finally closed in.
Then, just like every other player, Surprise was comboed to death by Master Rory.
The crowd outside erupted in a deafening roar once more. Players who liked Master Rory spammed "666," while those who didn’t continued to question the fairness of the competition, feeling that for someone with her level of skill to participate in the qualifiers and stomp on newbies was a sign of poor character.
But regardless of the comments, Master Rory had successfully proven her strength in this tournament, making the upper management of many teams so envious they wished they could snatch her for their own team immediately.
"Mr. Lockwood, you’ve really found a gem this time! Will DAF be able to make it into the national top four this year?"
Arthur Lockwood smiled humbly. "We’ll do our best."
"Mr. Lockwood, you sound so much more confident now. It looks like the ’Rookie of the Year’ title is going to DAF this year."
"Isn’t that the truth? Mr. Lockwood is riding high right now, the envy of everyone!"
Arthur Lockwood listened to their sour-grapes comments, feeling absolutely ecstatic inside, but his face remained humble as he responded.
Master Rory was now a complete idol in District Twelve.
Many guilds wanted to form an alliance with Zeke Quincy, and tons of players flocked to create new accounts in District Twelve, planning to join Master Rory’s guild, Apex Dominion.
Master Rory had gained a huge number of fans from the qualifiers, and everyone was speculating about which team she would join in the future.
PL and New Generation were the most common guesses among players, but DAF struck while the iron was hot and posted an update on their official account:
[Welcome, Master Rory, to the DAF Team! #WhichTeamIsMasterRoryJoining]
Because of this post, DAF instantly gained 200,000 new followers.
The number of players applying to become DAF trainees was two to three times higher than the previous year.
The number of registered users for the Boxer class, developed by EM Group, exploded to 500,000 in a single day and continued to rise.
This thrilled the executives and employees at EM Group. They quickly contacted DAF’s manager, Gideon Lockwood, hoping to get Master Rory to be the spokesperson for EM Group’s Boxer class, but they were rejected outright.
To that end, Harrison Yates even went to speak with Arthur Lockwood personally about a partnership. In the end, they only reached an agreement for the virtual character to be the spokesperson; Master Rory’s operator, Aurora Sinclair, would still not appear in any endorsements or commercial activities.

In the CEO’s office, Leigh Miles jumped up in excitement. "This is great! Senior Sister is number one! We’re getting the prize money!"
"Prize money? Did Aurora enter the competition for the prize money?" Jared Miles asked in disbelief.
He had originally thought she signed up because she was interested in it.
Leigh Miles nodded and replied seriously, "Senior Brother, we owe The Verdant School 53 million..."
Before she could finish, Jared Miles shot to his feet. "Did Master get involved in some messy business again?"
His expression was extremely serious, which startled Leigh Miles. Her voice became quieter as she said hesitantly, "It’s for Senior Sister’s and Tiger’s medicine..."
Jared Miles immediately pulled out his phone, dialed a number, and pressed the speakerphone button.
After a few rings, the call connected, and Master Aerion’s long-unheard voice came through.
"Eldest Disciple, are you wiring money to your master again? I’ll go check the bank right now..."
Leigh Miles was completely shocked, her eyes wide.
’Master has a phone?’
’And he’s been in contact with Senior Brother this whole time?’
’Then where in the world did he go?’
On the other end, Jared Miles skipped the pleasantries and said bluntly in an unfriendly tone, "I’m not sending money. I have something to ask you!"
"What is it, my good Eldest Disciple?"
"Why do you owe The Verdant School 53 million? And you’re making Aurora and the others pay it back?"
